Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: This is My Struggle!

"What's going on?" Kirigaya Kazuto, who had been brought by the rich lady for a vacation, watched the two being led to the back kitchen, then heard screams and what sounded like fighting from upstairs.

Now, he suddenly saw one of the people who had gone up earlier, rushing down at an extremely fast speed, and directly heading to the door to pull up the main entrance and press down the bolt on the ground.

Kirito, thinking they had encountered some robbery, looked left and right, shielding his rich girlfriend behind him.

"What are you doing?"

His question came out, but Kazuma just yelled, while rushing to the window and pulling it shut.

"Go die, normie! If you want to live, take your woman and hide in the back!"

Although he was indeed a normie, Kirigaya Kazuto, who still considered himself an otaku, was displeased upon hearing this. He and Asuna had met in a game before.

Before Kirito could say anything, his eyes bulged.

He saw a strange shadow quickly pass by a window.

"What… what was that?"

As one of the few players in the world who had experienced virtual reality games, Kirito was not unfamiliar with the current situation, but... but that was always in a game before...

"Bang!" The next moment, a heavy thud came from another window. Thankfully, because they considered their guests to be wealthy, safety measures had been partially implemented, and the window immediately showed cracks but didn't completely shatter.

This time, he saw clearly; the humanoid, fish-like monster inflicted immense psychological damage on him. No matter how vivid the movements were in games, they couldn't compare to the impact of reality.

And soon, because something was amiss, a dozen or so people rushed out from the staff lounge in the back, making the previously empty hall packed.

Someone frantically pressed the emergency buttons to call security and medical assistance. Red lights illuminated the entire restaurant interior, but the other end of the intercom was met with a busy signal, showing no sign of connecting.

At the forefront of the crowd was naturally Keli, who had handled the aftermath upstairs. Because these things had astonishing jumping power, Keli had also locked the windows and picked up an axe from the back kitchen, seemingly used for chopping fruit wood.

However, most people in the hall, upon seeing those things, instinctively covered their heads and began to wail dryly.

Those with stronger reactions even started running around the hall like headless chickens, and some even lost their minds and ran towards the back, trying to open the door to escape. Keli stopped this behavior by lightly kicking one person half a meter away.

Keli felt that the Deep Ones had given him a much greater enhancement than the Ghouls.

With his current physical prowess, he could probably beat down the lightweight and bantamweight champions in a UFC octagon fight.

Amidst the clamor of human voices and the chaotic scene, Keli pondered the best course of action.

However, while he was thinking, the surging Deep Ones wouldn't give him time.

"Bang! Bang!"

The Deep Ones, wielding hammers found from who knows where, pounded on the glass. Soon, the expensive double-layered laminated glass shattered, and although the broken glass still clung together like glue due to its material, monsters were already rushing through the holes, heedless of their scales being cut.

Seeing the number outside, Kazuma chose to conserve bullets for now. He picked up his small sickle, and with a quick, short slide, he dodged the fish-man's hammer, then stabbed and hooked the Deep Ones who had already climbed halfway into the room.

"Aaa!"

Immediately, that eerie shriek erupted from the Deep One's mouth, and its viscous blood flowed downwards.

However, at the same time, another group of Deep Ones had already reached the main entrance.

Their various tools pounded dully on the glass door, making the entire hall seem to vibrate.

Most people in the hall still had no idea what was happening.

They just ran around aimlessly and constantly screamed, like startled small animals.

Some rational ones had already started running upstairs, and although this action made no sense upon careful thought, at least it allowed people to avoid looking at those terrifying figures.

In the chaotic crowd, however, two people picked up a steel pipe and a long sword.

Those were the two young lovers from the restaurant earlier. Although one was a young lady and the other an otaku, these two were also victims of the SAO incident that shocked the world last year, where the world's first full-dive game, due to the developer's madness, became a death game where death in the game meant death in reality.

And although their physical fitness was not great, in terms of combat experience and neural reaction speed, these two were battle-hardened veterans. One had practiced Western fencing since childhood, and the other had a very solid foundation in Japanese kendo.

They completely failed to understand why monsters would appear in reality, and their brains had been throbbing with pain earlier. Now, their hands were trembling with fear, but their first instinct was still to pick up weapons and fight.

"Bang!"

With a loud crash, the main door, locked with a ground bolt, and its frame finally gave way under the heavy blows, and the Deep Ones, with physical abilities far beyond human comprehension, swung their large hammers and charged in.

And in the dust, Keli, holding a gun in one hand and an axe in the other, stepped forward, put his foot on the fallen door panel, fired a shot, and then brought the axe down.

Like cutting through some kind of bean product, the axe in Keli's hand sliced directly from the Deep One's white belly, cutting through its lower limbs and exiting.

Having struck successfully, Keli pushed off with his legs, quickly retreated, and then fired two more shots from the gun in his hand.

"Bang! Bang!"

The Deep One next to him, attempting to grab him, was shot and fell to the ground.

But after all, it was a restaurant in a resort facility, and the door was quite wide. Keli, who had been able to move freely and prevent the Deep Ones from getting close by blocking the door, killed four and emptied his 9-round magazine, but even more Deep Ones surged in.

"Tsk!"

Lamenting that Totsuki Academy's security pistol magazines were far inferior to the 20-round capacity of some brand of pistol from New Township, Keli had no time to reload now.

The young man and woman behind him, and everyone else in the hall, watched this battle that seemed utterly unreal.

It was too fast. Cold sweat dripped down Kirito's forehead.

That speed of engagement, even in a game where everyone's physical abilities surpassed normal humans, was only at this level, and even then, it was because of network-assisted neural reactions that such an effect could be achieved.

This was completely like a battle that would only appear in mythological heroic epics, as if ancient demigods were fighting against demons.

Kirito also noticed that Keli's pistol was out of bullets, and he judged that Keli would probably have to retreat while fighting from then on.

However, the next moment, to everyone's horrified gazes, Keli not only didn't retreat but instead bent down quickly, put away his gun, picked up a machete that had fallen from a Deep One's hand earlier, and, with a machete in one hand and an axe in the other, charged into the surging Deep Ones like a rampaging, bloodthirsty Great White Shark, as if intending to urbanize his own country, neighboring countries, and even the neighboring countries' neighbors.

Completely disregarding the spear piercing his body, Keli thrust forward, letting the spear pass straight through his abdomen, then brought his axe down.

"Come! Come on, come on, come on!"

The hard fish head instantly exploded with brains, and Keli's horizontal slash quickly sent a Deep One's arm flying into the air.
