Chapter 185 - Chapter 185: Daigo’s Questions

After Tiga vanished, Daigo stood there with a blank look on his face. What he'd just felt was like a dream.

He had turned into a Giant of Light and fought a monster.

"Why me?"

Daigo couldn't figure it out. He was just an ordinary human—so why had he become a Giant of Light?

Ultraman Tiga… he remembered that the awakened giant was called that. Couldn't anyone explain it to him?

"Oh? Classic plot," Yae Miko said with a breezy, teasing smile. "The protagonist gets power and immediately gets lost."

Power was the kind of thing that could addict you—and scare you. If your mindset wasn't steady, you'd lose sight of the road ahead.

Daigo was exactly like that: he'd been an ordinary soldier up until yesterday, and now he suddenly had godlike power. Of course he'd feel confused.

"Fufu, if you suddenly got the Hydro Archon's power, what would you think?" Koji abruptly asked.

"Me? I don't know," Furina shook her head.

If she'd had the Hydro Archon's power from the start, she wouldn't have had to exhaust herself pretending to be a god—she would've been the real thing. But now, five hundred years later… honestly, she didn't have much of a feeling about "power" anymore.

"Honey, how long do you think Daigo will stay confused?" Lumine asked.

"Not long," Koji said. "Monsters will keep showing up. Human weapons won't be able to handle them, and Daigo won't have a choice—he'll have to fight."

After all, this wasn't the Showa era. Back then, those anti-kaiju teams had absurd black-tech—humans could straight-up blow monsters apart on their own.

Sunlight. Sand.

Koji and the others were vacationing on a deserted seaside beach. From here, they could even see the TPC base out on the Pacific.

"A group like this can even be formed… the people in charge must be pretty capable," Yae Miko said meaningfully.

This world didn't have just seven nations—it was made up of many countries.

"When outside pressure hits, it's actually easy to push a united front."

Band together for warmth, or face supernatural phenomena and monsters alone—anyone with a functioning brain knew which choice to make.

"Was that you calling him over?"

Yae Miko noticed a yellow car pulling up. A familiar young man walked over—Daigo.

"Of course," Koji admitted with a nod. "Since we're already here, I might as well give him some proper special training."

"An Ultra Jeep?" Lumine clearly thought of a certain possibility. Her smile turned wicked—equal parts amusement and sympathy.

That cane-wielding alien's training was hell, but Jeep special training was Gen Ootori's nightmare—so bad it was the kind of thing that made you flinch on reflex the moment you saw a Jeep.

"Worthy of my wife," Koji said. "We really are on the same wavelength."

Constructed Blessing: "I Reckon" Power — Construct Out of Thin Air

He didn't use this Blessing much. If you could just conjure anything whenever you wanted, where was the fun?

But right now… if he wanted an Ultra Jeep exactly like the original, this Blessing was perfect.

An Ultra Jeep appeared—complete with the "brakes don't work" feature.

"Koji-san, I'm here. I have some questions I'd like to ask," Daigo said sincerely.

"What, about you turning into Ultraman Tiga?" Koji replied casually.

"…Yeah. Why was it me?"

That was what Daigo couldn't understand. There were so many people on Earth—why had it chosen him?

"First, don't reject this power," Koji said. "You can use Ultraman's power to protect the people you want to protect."

"As for why you can transform into Tiga… it's because the light of an ultra-ancient warrior runs in your body—an inherited 'light' factor. You have the qualifications to transform."

Daigo froze, stunned. He hadn't expected it to be that kind of reason.

Yae Miko laughed. "So it's bloodline theory here too, huh? Makes sense. Something this powerful… if you said there was no background, no special trait, that'd be the unrealistic part."

"I understand," Daigo said, the haze in his eyes easing. "I'll use this power to protect everyone."

"Daigo, Tiga's skill set is huge," Koji continued. "Yeah, the red Power Type feels amazing—those hits are satisfying—but you should try using more of Tiga's actual techniques."

Tiga's kit was ridiculously well-rounded, but in the TV story, Daigo barely used any of it. Most of the time he just switched to the red form and charged in headfirst.

A mage kit played like a berserker.

Sure, maybe it was an energy issue—but tossing out one different technique per fight was still totally doable.

"Yazumi said the red form can deal massive damage to monsters," Daigo said, scratching his head.

He'd latched onto that immediately: stronger power meant more effective damage against monsters.

Furina and the others laughed. This guy really loved the "rushdown" form—he could not stop thinking about it.

"That's true," Koji said, half amused and half helpless. "But Tiga's got plenty of weird little light-beams with all kinds of uses."

Daigo really was obsessed with Daigo Fun Mode. But honestly, fair—Power Type was insanely strong, the punch-after-punch impact felt great, and it wasn't like most men could resist that.

"Alright," Daigo said. "I'll think about it."

He nodded. Tiga's skill list really did make his head spin—there were too many to take in at once.

And that was exactly why it felt easier to just go with Daigo Fun Mode and keep it simple.

"Oh, and one more thing," Koji added with open schadenfreude. "Tiga's ex-girlfriend, Camila, is sealed on Earth right now. She's definitely getting unsealed one day."

"…Huh?"

Daigo went still. In Tiga's inherited memories, he found the name "Camila." After skimming it, his face instantly turned green.

That was Tiga's business. It shouldn't have anything to do with him, right?

An ex-girlfriend was one thing. A betrayed ex-girlfriend was scalp-crawling. Was this a joke?!

"Camila's been sealed for thirty million years," Koji said, seeing what Daigo was thinking and dumping a bucket of cold water straight over his head. "She's already a full-blown lunatic. And as long as you have Tiga's power, she'll come for you."

Camila didn't care whether you were Tiga himself. If you had Tiga's power, she'd treat you as Tiga.

"Thirty million years of resentment," Koji said. "Daigo… you think you can handle that?"

Yae Miko and the others all looked at Daigo with deep sympathy. Just imagining it was enough to know how Camila would "educate" him.

"…Can I just not transform into Tiga anymore?" Daigo asked weakly.

He was honestly going numb. Anyone hearing that would lose it.

Tiga caused this mess—so why did he have to suffer it? Where was the justice in that?!

"It's fine," Koji said, patting his shoulder. "Believe in yourself—you'll figure it out. Camila's unsealing is still a long way off. I'll train you a bit later."

Koji pointed at the Ultra Jeep.

This was the legacy of Warriors of Light. Daigo had to experience it properly.
