Damn, I hit the jackpot!
Kairen secretly rejoiced. Just one Rasa was enough to trade for five Shabei.
If this happened a few more times, he could even exchange for a Sharingan worth 2000 points.
When the white smoke cleared, the unharmed Kairen appeared in front of them.
Rasa's pupils shrank. It was his first time seeing such a miraculous bloodline. Even reduced to a pile of blood and flesh, the boy could still resurrect.
...
Kairen stood shirtless, displaying his pale body.
"Well? Would a body like this satisfy your wife?"
A kunai pierced through Kairen's head, and he slumped to the ground.
This time, it wasn't Rasa who struck, but the Anbu behind him.
"Ding!"
"You were killed by Anbu jōnin Kuroda with a kunai. EXP +70."
Kairen revived once more, his words still sharp as blades.
"Anbu jōnin trash, did I tell you to make a move? Who gave you the right to lay a hand on me, Kairen of Konoha?"
"Konoha brat!"
The Anbu jōnin was about to strike again, but Rasa stopped him.
"As a ninja, if you can't even endure this much, what kind of ninja are you?"
Rasa moved his lips slightly, regaining the composure befitting a Kage.
Ignoring the barbed words from Kairen, he instructed Shabei:
"Dissect him thoroughly. Don't let him grow too comfortable. I want research results in the shortest possible time."
Shabei lowered his head. "I'll do it as quickly as possible!"
Rasa turned and left the laboratory with two Anbu, leaving a final order behind.
"Cut out his tongue. Let's see how he keeps insulting people then."
"Understood, Rasa-sama!"
Shabei picked up a scalpel and slowly approached Kairen.
The system's voice rang out: "Hand Seals +5!"
Kairen quickly formed seals with both hands. This time his hand seals instantly reached level 8, his speed lightning-fast, and he immediately spat out flames.
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"
"Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!"
Shabei's wind instantly blew the flames back, engulfing Kairen, burning him until his screams echoed.
But Kairen still refused to bow his head.
"Hahaha… Sunagakure shinobi, I am immortal! Anything that fails to kill me will only make me stronger. One day, I will become your nightmare!"
"Ding!"
"You were burned to death by your own flames. EXP +10!"
When Kairen revived again, Shabei grabbed his throat with one hand, yanked out his tongue, and sliced it off in one motion.
The lab fell quiet once more.
Kairen was bound to a wooden cross, only able to grunt "mmph mmph" sounds, unable to speak.
His tongue had been cut away by Shabei, leaving him mute.
Shabei kept fiddling with Kairen's organs. Out of boredom, he opened the system interface, studying the useful tools.
The Infinite Resurrection System contained everything from the ninja world. Even a strand of hair from Otsutsuki Kaguya a thousand years ago could be exchanged.
But most were flashy yet useless items.
Kairen scrolled quickly, until his eyes fell on the card directory—specifically the Ninjutsu Development Card.
There were low, medium, and high tiers, corresponding to the ninjutsu that required them.
"System, give me a low-level Ninjutsu Development Card!"
"Confirmed. Ninjutsu Development Card successfully exchanged!"
Kairen studied the instructions. The development of ninjutsu relied on chakra control and the degree of chakra nature transformation—it could not deviate from these.
Kairen declared: "Develop a technique that uses chakra vibrations to produce sound!"
"Confirmed. Sonic Ninjutsu development beginning!"
"Development progress… 1%!"
"10%…"
"50%…"
"100%!"
"Sonic Ninjutsu development complete!"
"Please name the technique!"
"Call it Ventriloquism!"
"Name confirmed! E-rank ninjutsu Ventriloquism has been recorded in the Ninja Scroll."
Kairen's head tingled as a new ninjutsu appeared in his mind, and he slowly absorbed it.
It was a technique that used chakra vibrations to produce sound. Though low-ranked, it required high-level chakra control.
By learning this jutsu, Kairen's chakra control advanced to the level of a high-level Genin template.
Opening his eyes, Kairen gathered chakra in his throat, causing vibrations, and immediately launched a verbal strike at Shabei.
"Hey, crazy hag, when Rasa was here just now, your legs went weak, didn't they? Did you get wet?"
Shabei turned around in disbelief. She remembered she had already cut out his tongue.
Where was this voice coming from?
...
"I'm talking to you, crazy hag!"
Shabei turned her gaze toward Kairen. His mouth hadn't moved, but the voice was coming from it.
"Controlling chakra vibrations to produce sound… your talent really is terrifying!"
With no other choice, Shabei stuffed plugs into her ears to block Kairen's verbal barrage.
In the days that followed, Shabei became even more ruthless.
Each day she sliced into Kairen's organs, using delicate precision with her scalpel to maximize his agony without letting him die.
She truly carried out Rasa's order—not to let Kairen grow too comfortable.
One day, Kairen felt his location change. Wrapped in white cloth, he was transported somewhere.
"Bang!"
Shabei threw Kairen onto the ground, unwrapping the cloth.
A harsh light forced Kairen to shut his eyes.
After being in darkness so long, light had become unfamiliar.
Slowly, he opened his eyelids, adapting to the new environment.
He was inside a well-lit greenhouse. The space was large, with air and temperature well-balanced.
In the center was a small garden filled with bright flowers, their vivid colors reminiscent of mandrakes.
An elderly voice echoed in Kairen's mind.
"So this is the child? I hear he possesses an undying bloodline."
Kairen looked up. A woman wore the Wind Country's distinctive wind-shielding cloak, her light purple hair tied under a cloth, her face marked with deep wrinkles.
Who else could it be but Sunagakure's advisor, Chiyo?
Shabei nodded. "Advisor-sama, he truly cannot die. I still haven't uncovered the essence of his bloodline."
"A mysterious mutated bloodline, then?"
Chiyo studied Kairen, whose body was mutilated—both arms severed, wrapped in blood-soaked bandages.
"Turned into this, is there still any point in researching him?"
Shabei explained: "When he revives, all his injuries are restored."
"Oh? Interesting."
Chiyo's eyes brightened, her curiosity piqued.
She slowly approached, wanting to carefully examine Kairen's body.
Shabei cautiously warned: "Advisor-sama, watch out for his mouth."
Chiyo chuckled, tilting her head at Shabei.
"You've already cut out his tongue. What tricks could he possibly use?"
Kairen lay on the ground, bloodshot eyes turning toward Chiyo.
His chakra gathered in his abdomen, vibrating once more.
"Old hag!"
Chiyo glanced around, then focused on Kairen's abdomen.
"Fascinating… gathering chakra in the abdomen to create sound through vibration?"
"They say you are a flower of the shinobi that never withers. But now, you're already old and covered in age spots."
Chiyo laughed indifferently. "I'm an old woman. It's normal for me to have a few age spots."
Seeing that his jab failed, Kairen pressed on.
"I heard your grandson defected, and Sunagakure still hasn't found him."
Chiyo's smile faded. She gazed seriously at Kairen.
"Every word comes with a price."
"Hahaha… I fear not even death. What price could possibly scare me?"
"You're truly pitiful, old woman. Your son and daughter-in-law were slain by White Fang, your grandson defected, leaving only your decrepit body to wander this world alone."
