Chapter 296 - Chapter 296: Nightmare Annihilation

Bonney's plan was brilliantly simple.

Since her raw attack power was lacking against these colossal beasts, she would use her unique Devil Fruit ability to help the Straw Hat Pirates secure victory much faster.

Under the cover of the chaos, she stealthily slipped right to the feet of the two 100-meter-tall "Impoverished" nightmare monsters currently overwhelming Sanji.

Extending her small hands, she activated her ability, a power that altered the timelines and ages of living beings.

She could change her own form by imagining her future self.

So... perhaps she could try adjusting these monsters into an "ideal" future?

"Distorted Future!"

Darting and weaving between massive stomping feet, she touched one nightmare monster after another.

Three seconds later, the bizarre changes began.

Dozens of the starving, 100-meter-tall monsters began transforming one after another.

The previously impoverished giants became glamorous.

Their chipped, empty ceramic bowls turned into solid, glittering gold.

Their hunched bodies swelled into massive, wealthy potbellies.

They developed double chins, wore oversized designer sunglasses, and held premium, telephone-pole-sized cigars between their teeth.

"Age restrictions don't matter—whatever I imagine can be changed!" she declared triumphantly.

The newly affluent monsters displayed completely different combat intentions compared to their previous desperate, destitute states.

Their minds were now solely focused on lying flat, indulging in pleasure, and counting their money.

Their combat effectiveness plummeted to zero.

Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy stared in stunned disbelief at the absurd scene.

Mr. 3 stroked his chin, utterly amazed. "You can play it like this?"

"Isn't her power supposed to be the Toshi Toshi no Mi?"

"Something feels off... Even a Devil Fruit Awakening shouldn't be this absurd. Or perhaps Bonney's ability isn't the Toshi Toshi no Mi at all?"

Zoro drew his swords, cutting off the speculation.

"Never mind, let's not overthink it! Take advantage of them losing their fighting spirit. We need to finish this quickly!"

Mr. 3 immediately activated his ability, equipping each of his 10-meter-tall Candle Warriors with a massive, hardened wax blade.

With hardness comparable to steel, these blades—wielded by the monstrously strong wax warriors—easily sliced cleanly through the exposed heel tendons of the hundred-meter-tall, lazy nightmare monsters.

Without tendon support, the colossal, wealthy creatures crashed to the ground like toppled mountains.

Gem (Mr. 5) seized the opportunity, completely disregarding his own stamina consumption.

With his explosive ability fully unleashed, every single punch he landed on the fallen monsters triggered terrifying, 10-meter-wide explosions.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Within five seconds, the two Baroque Works agents had eliminated three monsters.

Mikita rushed over from the neighboring battlefield to reinforce them, dropping heavy kicks from the sky.

Usopp continuously fired terrifying Demon Star explosive seeds from his slingshot, bombarding the remaining giants.

As for Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji—they fought even faster.

"GOMU GOMU NO... KONG GATLING!"

"THREE SWORD STYLE SECRET TECHNIQUE: THREE THOUSAND WORLDS!"

"POÊLE À FRIRE: SPECTRE!"

One large-scale destructive technique after another wiped out entire batches of these "obese wealthy ghosts" who had completely lost their will to fight.

As for the few specific nightmare monsters that still retained combat capabilities—the Werewolf, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and the Zombies—they too were altered by Bonney's touch.

The giant Werewolf transformed into a gentle, toothless grandmother wearing a red hood.

The giant Little Red Riding Hood became adorably cute, completely devoid of her dark, menacing aura.

Snow White just began happily dancing on the spot, ignoring the battle.

The zombies... well, Bonney stated she simply couldn't imagine a "good future" for those ugly creatures.

But it didn't matter—there were only three left, and Luffy casually smashed them to pieces.

Fortunately, none of these dream constructs possessed Haki to resist Devil Fruit powers.

Once affected, they could only wait for Bonney's ability to naturally fade.

Thus, they were quickly and completely eradicated by the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Exhausted, everyone collapsed onto the ruined ground, panting heavily.

HISSSS.

Luffy released Gear Fourth, steam rolling off his shrinking body, and began his recovery process.

After ten minutes of high-intensity combat, he had nearly depleted all his Haki.

If he hadn't eaten so much meat earlier today, he would have lost his fighting capacity long ago.

Sanji and Zoro leaned against broken trees, taking brief rests.

After all, the God's Knights (Saint Killingham, Gunko, and the remaining Pacifistas) were currently being firmly suppressed by their allies.

Their best current option was to rest and recover stamina to handle whatever came next.

[Battlefield Assessment - Wave 1 Cleared]

Luffy: 15 points (Dispersed 20 nightmare monsters).

Bonney: 15 points (Tied with Luffy. MVP—her powerful ability secured the rapid victory).

Zoro: 12 points (Sliced apart 15 nightmare monsters).

Sanji: 10 points (Due to a disadvantage in wide-range AoE skills, only destroyed 10).

Mr. 3 (Galdino): 7 points.

Gem (Mr. 5): 7 points. (Both Baroque Works agents performed solidly—neither carrying the team nor being carried).

Mikita & Usopp: External support / Unscored.

Bonney watched the battlefield conclude with a happy, vindicated expression.

Maintaining her childlike body, she silently turned and began running toward the epicenter—Ray's battlefield.

The group, still resting and recovering, hadn't noticed her slip away at all.

Only Shakky stared in the direction Bonney had left, lost in thought.

After a moment, she quietly followed her.

In Shakky's eyes, this girl Bonney had likely misunderstood the dire situation.

These monsters known as the Five Elders... what "future" could Bonney possibly alter for them?

As for their past, their hundreds of years of age weren't something the current Bonney could easily regress.

Shakky speculated that the Five Elders might be very special—perhaps their time was eternally fixed.

After Shakky departed, Kuma—who had been hiding behind a giant tree the entire time—also showed a deeply worried expression.

But he still had his own duties.

He was the one who had used his Paw-Paw fruit to send the unconscious Straw Hat Grand Fleet fodder flying to safety earlier during the shockwave.

For the safety of the Straw Hat Pirates and their executives, he needed to remain hidden as a trump card.

As for Bonney's safety, he had set up double insurance.

Moreover, with the legendary Shakky watching her back, there shouldn't be any immediate problems.

Since Ray was willing to risk everything to help him and Bonney, Kuma had to keep his promise and play his part perfectly.

...

As for why Bonney was so eager to rush toward a battlefield of Gods to help Ray?

Because she had already learned the horrifying truth about herself, her father Kuma and her mother Ginny, directly from Kuma's own words.

The mastermind behind all their suffering was that repulsive ox-demon fighting in the distance: Saint Saturn.

She couldn't forgive Saturn for causing her mother's tragic death, infecting her with the Sapphire Scales, and deceiving both her and Kuma into a life of slavery and cyborg modification.

At the same time, she was deeply, fiercely grateful to Ray for protecting them.

Back when Ray told her and Kuma his plan, he promised he would help them kill Saturn.

He explained that by eliminating Saturn, it would leave only Vegapunk and Kizaru within the World Government who fully knew about their father-daughter history and the pacifista deal.

As for the other Five Elders and Marine executives, they didn't know the specific intimate details, so their attention toward Bonney and Kuma naturally wouldn't be that high once Saturn was gone.

Without Saturn's direct orders, a slacker like Kizaru wouldn't actively hunt them down—especially not while Bonney and Kuma were under Ray's protection.

If they could kill several Five Elders today, it would severely cripple the World Government's ability to easily mobilize forces against Ray and the Straw Hat Pirates.

These Five Elders, despite their arrogant, godly appearances, were probably among the most death-fearing individuals in the entire pirate world.

They had sat on their thrones for 800 years.

So today, they had to be intimidated thoroughly.

In other words, they needed a decisive victory.

Bonney didn't fully grasp the global politics of what constituted a "decisive victory."

At ten years old, she only understood one thing: Saturn was the culprit who killed her mother and ruined her father.

She absolutely had to take revenge!

Though young, Bonney—as one of the Worst Generation Supernovas—wasn't as naive or timid as ordinary children.

This fierce, unyielding drive was exactly why Ray was willing to protect her and Kuma.

While their tragic father-daughter bond resonated with Ray's own past, his genuine appreciation for her pirate spirit was another matter entirely.

...

After seeing Nami release her sky-full of lightning, Ray had intentionally dragged Saturn and Nusjuro elsewhere to avoid collateral damage to his crew.

The three gods fought their way all the way to Grove 20, leaving shattered earth, deep ravines, and broken giant trees in their apocalyptic wake.

No living thing could survive their battle unscathed.

Including the residents.

Saturn deliberately released highly toxic, bone-melting poisonous gas during combat, specifically aiming to kill the terrified, fleeing residents nearby just to spite Ray.

Nusjuro employed similar cruel tactics, occasionally sending stray, massive freezing sword slashes toward the residential towns, seemingly just to slaughter ordinary people for being in his way.

Meanwhile, all of Ray's devastating skills were carefully directed toward uninhabited areas or aimed upward.

By such a stark contrast, Ray became even more certain that this archipelago probably couldn't continue to exist.

His decision to coordinate the evacuation plan with Kuma in advance proved to be absolutely correct.

After fighting non-stop until now, both Saturn and Nusjuro had been cleanly cleaved apart three times by Ray's Tessaiga.

Yet, their bodies quickly bubbled and regenerated each time, entirely ignoring the fatal damage.

However, the two Elders also realized that Ray's raw power far exceeded their initial assessment.

He was pushing them back effortlessly!

Thus, Nusjuro once again brandished the Shodai Kitetsu, his skeletal horse hooves clopping on the air, and charged furiously toward Ray to pin him down.

Meanwhile, taking advantage of the distraction, Saturn drew back his spider legs.

On the ruined ground below, he began drawing a massive, burning pentagram around himself, initiating a summoning ritual.
