Avelina walked through the street of her house. The clouds had come down as the soft breeze blew through her face while she walked calmly. All she needed now was to go home and see her brother—she had missed Alor and her little sister, Ella.
Some of the neighbors were out, and as usual, they were staring. She already knew they had gossiped about something, or maybe they were just looking for something new to gossip about. She knew how these people were.
"Aunt Lina, hello!" a little girl ran to her and hugged her tightly.
Avelina hugged the little girl back. She was one of the neighbor's daughters and a close friend of Ella. She loved calling her "Aunt Lina," and Avelina didn't mind that at all.
Avelina turned around with the girl in her arms as she giggled.
"How are you, Rose?" she asked, and the girl smiled and nodded.
"I'm fine, Aunt. I haven't seen you in a long time, but Ella told me you had exams. I prayed hard that you would pass."
