Chapter 42 - Ere the Sun Rises

The room was in chaos.

Not because of an attack, not because of a dispute, and not because of an accident.

No, this was a whole different beast.

Childbirth.

Specifically, the birth of my own child.

I would be lying if I said I didn't panic when Mitsuri went into labour. Or that I wasn't pacing a trench into the floor of the Butterfly Mansion.

Mitsuri's muffled scream made my ears prickle. Kanae, Shinobu, and Kanao were all busy inside the room caring for my wife as she birthed our firstborn child into the world.

There I was, Satoru, the undisputed strongest, one of the founders of the new school for sorcerers that Kagaya had started, husband to the Love Hashira, holder of too many damn titles, the man capable of erasing an entire army with a lazy flick of my fingers, and on top of it all, the man trying not to pass out from stress.

Maybe it's because I had modern standards for medical care, or maybe it was the fact that the Kocho sisters wouldn't let me in the room even with my ability to heal people with a touch.

Childbirth was a huge contributor to the deaths of women before modern times. I didn't want to risk Mitsuri's life but I also didn't want to make it seem like I thought she was weak.

'Whatever… I can feel my child's cursed energy, they've got a lot of it… they're gonna be strong just like their mom and dad.'

"It'll be fine Satoru-sensei! Kanae-san and Shinobu-san are amazing physicians." Tanjiro gave me a reassuring pat on the back, pulling me from my spiralling thoughts.

I wanted to glare at him, I had almost forgotten that Mitsuri had insisted that I get Kyojuro and Tanjiro for 'emotional support'. Really, I think she just wanted someone to hold me back just in case.

Kyojuro laughed, booming as always but much softer toned now. "Indeed! Fear not, Satoru-dono! Your flame burns bright, but Mitsuri-san's will burns even brighter today."

"…Yeah,l muttered, rubbing my temples, "that's the problem."

Minutes stretched to hours… or maybe it was just my brain melting. Each muffled cry from Mitsuri hit me like a Truck-kun hellbent on isekai'ing a random chump off the street.

Then finally the cries changed. A new sound cut through the air. Small, fragile… crying.

My heart skipped a beat.

Shinobu slid the door open, smiling softly. "You can come in now Papa." She teased.

I moved before she had even stepped out of the way, I barely brushed against her in my quick steps to get into the room. In a blink I was at Mitsuri's side, kissing the side of her face, not caring about the sweat.

She was clearly exhausted, but radiant. Hair plastered to her forehead, yet smiling through it all. And in her arms…

A tiny bundle wrapped in a soft white cloth.

The world around me faded, my hand shakily removed my shades as my eyes widened. My breath caught in my throat. The baby's hair, mostly pink just a touch lighter than Mitsuri's.

"S-she's perfect…" I whispered, still dazed.

Mitsuri just hummed, "She is… what should we name her?" She gently rocked our baby in her arms.

"Ai." I said before thinking, "Let's call her Ai."

Mitsuri blinked, "Love…?"

I smiled faintly, "Yeah, it feels like the right name. Love… it feels like everything we went through led to this, to her… our Love."

Mitsuri's eyes shimmered, her smile softening. "Then Ai it is… our little Love."

I sat in the bed next to Mitsuri, holding her close, supporting her exhausted frame with mine.

And just then, as Ai cooed softly and Mitsuri leaned against me, I knew… this was it. The strongest I've ever felt in my life, and it wasn't power that made me feel that way, it was love.

Five Years Later

"…and that's how your super strong daddy made all the stupid people stop fighting over stupid things. I said, 'I'm the strongest, I'll take all your dango if you don't stop fighting.' and they all listened."

Ai's eyes shimmered much like her mothers, she had on her pink pajamas and had her teddy bear nestled next to her. She clutched her blanket and stared at me awestruck.

"Waku waku! Papa is so strong!" Her pink hair, even lighter now bounced as she nodded her head. "Papa's words ended a war."

I grinned, "Yup, totally diplomatic… no threats, no violence."

She tilted her head at me, I felt a slight tingle behind my eyes. Ai had her own unique cursed technique, something she probably inherited from Mitsuri. She could read minds… something she was obviously doing now.

"Papa…" she pouted, "you lied, you didn't end war with words you did the scarwy thing!" She crossed her little arms.

I bit my lip trying not to chuckle, she still stumbled over her words if she talked too fast.

"Nuh uh…" I say with a mock frown, "papa never lies, it's not my fault they got scared because of my words. And what did I say about reading my mind, Little Love Bug?"

I started tickling her, making her laugh uncontrollably and roll around on her bed. Eventually I felt my fingers getting pushed away as Ai pouted while holding her teddy. She had also inherited Limitless from me, but without Six Eyes she couldn't use it properly.

"Papa meanie! Chimera-san, attack him!" Ai shouted before throwing her teddy bear at me.

The lion headed bear with pink fur bounced off my Limitless. Ai pouted when her 'attack' didn't work. I tucked her back into bed and kissed her forehead.

"Behave Ai… unless you want me to tell Mama who really broke the new fox statue we got."

Ai let out a dramatic gasp and pouted, "Papa would betray Ai? Meanie!" she still pulled the blanket over herself obediently.

"That's what I thought…" I grin.

Ai scrunched her face, I could tell she was trying to use Limitless against me but then Mitsuri walked in the room.

Her smile was as radiant as ever, she hadn't aged a day since we had gotten married, and neither had I for that matter.

In her arms was our two year old son, Akira. Akira had inherited Mitsuri's eyes like Ai, but he had gotten everything else from me. Even at two years old he was already a smug little gremlin.

"Time for bed, Love Bug." Mitsuri said as she tucked Akira in next to Ai.

She turned to me, I had retreated towards the door, leaning against the frame. She glanced back at our daughter.

"Was papa telling you that story again?" Her tone was teasing.

Ai gasped dramatically. "Mama! Papa say he end the war with words but awtually— mmph!"

I clamped her mouth shut from across the room with Limitless. "Nope… bed time little lady… don't make me sell all your toys."

Ai pouted and laid back down on the bed while pulling Akira and her teddy closer. Mitsuri giggled and kissed our children goodnight.

"You're hopeless Satoru-kun…" she took my arm as we watched our kids fall asleep .

"Hopelessly devoted you mean." I muttered.

She rolled her eyes though her smile betrayed her amusement. She rested her head on me as we stood in silence until we were sure the kids had fallen asleep.

Ai mumbled softly, voice fading. "Papa… Mama… heroes… heheh."

Mitsuri's hand found mine as her fingers laced between my own. "You think they'll grow up normal?"

"With our blood in their veins…" I chuckled, "she'll grow up loved… and the world will just have to be happy with that."

The room was quiet except for the gentle rustle of the wind against the trees outside. The moonlight spilled through the cracked curtains, painting my family in a soft silver hue.

Mitsuri sighed, "They're perfect."

"Yeah," I whispered, "let's make more…"

Mitsuri stiffened up next to me, then gently started pulling me away towards our room.

"Quick, before they wake up." She giggled.

[Scene Break] (Time Skip)

Ten Years Later

Mitsuri and I still hadn't aged, I had a feeling that 'blessing' nearly fifteen years ago had been something that the being that sent me to this world and granted me powers had done.

Mitsuri and I didn't complain, it meant we could spend a lot of time with our kids.

Tanjiro had become a Hashira on his own, though I guess that title was a bit outdated.

The 'Hashira' didn't exist anymore, not in name anyways. Kagaya had come up with a new ranking system. The former Hashira all gained 'Special Grade' ranking.

As one the first generation of Special Grade sorcerers, it had been my job to help the former Hashira awaken their latent abilities. Then in turn, they had been the ones in charge of searching Japan for people born with the ability to see curses and use cursed techniques.

Maybe I had been too busy back then, but my appearance in the world had indeed cause a resurgence of Cursed Energy.

Thankfully Cursed Spirits took a little longer to form, and it was mostly during times of conflict. With my intervention after WW1, I had prevented the second war from happening. There was still unrest of course, humanity can't help but to want to kill each other after all.

Still, I had prevented a major catastrophe, and the new Emperor of Japan had seen fit to award me with new titles, and even a large plot of land in Tokyo.

I'm pretty sure he had access to some sort of future predicting device or person. He had been pretty adamant about telling the military leaders to stay the fuck away from American boats.

But yeah.

I had inadvertently become the new founding father of Jujutsu society and the Gojo clan. Of course, I still did everything in my power to avoid major responsibilities, mainly teaching. Tanjiro was currently filling in for me.

I wasn't sure how much longer that would last since his wife, who he had apparently met during the Final Selections, was pregnant.

According to Yuki, his wife, he had heroically saved her from a creepy hand demon and she had fallen in love with him.

Tengen fully retired once the 'school' was founded and the first set of teachers were properly trained. He and his wives lived in the Entertainment District where they put on puppet shows with their many many children.

Surprisingly Zenitsu had finally locked in, but only after I had threatened him with physical violence when he started dating Haruko, Mitsuri's younger sister.

Apparently Haruko had been rather adventurous and the former cowardly boy had become a man and somehow gained Nezuko as a girlfriend too. I still didn't know how that worked but Mitsuri and her family were okay with it.

Giyu and Shinobu got together… it wasn't really surprising considering that they had been secretly boning since they both became Hashira.

Sanemi and Kanae had ended up together, much to my personal shock. Somehow thanks to the efforts of Kie Kamado and Kanae herself, they had managed to tame the little shit.

Kyojuro eventually settled down with Aoi in the Butterfly Mansion. The age difference was a little weird but I had to remind myself that the life expectancy was still pretty low.

Inosuke was still Inosuke… but I'm pretty sure he had been trying to court Kanao in his own weird way. She didn't seem to mind though, and she had even started being able to hold a full conversation with him.

Muichiro and Obanai were the last single Hashiras. Though not for the lack of trying. Muichiro was a bit too air headed, and Obanai… well, women got scared of his pet snake and he didn't go out of his way to at least be nice to people.

Mitsuri and I now had four little whelps. Ai, our eldest daughter at 15, Akira, our son who just turned 12. Then Hikari and Himari, the twin sisters, both 11 years old.

Mitsuri had been worried at first, Himari had been significantly weaker than Hikari. The twins had been born with Heavenly Restrictions, just like Maki and Mai.

Hikari had inherited my cursed energy levels and to my shock, my eyes. Hikari had the Six Eyes and Limitless, though her birth didn't seem to make the world spawn more curses to compensate. Sure, curses still spawned, but not an overwhelming amount appeared.

Himari on the other hand, was born with almost no Cursed Energy. She had enough to sense curses but that was it, still, like all our other kids she had inherited Mitsuri's unique muscle fiber density.

All four of Mitsuri and I's children were freakishly strong. So much so that they were grouped with older kids in school during recess so they didn't injure anyone.

In Himari's case, she was twice as strong with her Heavenly Restriction and her inherited body strength.

Unlike the Zenin clan, we didn't discriminate our daughters for having Restrictions. We encouraged our children to embrace their uniqueness and even gave them permission to beat up anyone who talked shit about them or their siblings.

All in all, life was good…

"Otousan! Ai-neesan and Hikari-neesan opened a weird portal thing!" Came Himari's shout.

Mitsuri sighed, she smiled at me. "It's your turn today."

I groaned, getting up from where I was laying with my head on her lap. "Fine… I swear, if I have to pull Mei-Mei out of a well again because Ai thought it would be funny to drop the family cat down a hole…"

Mitsuri giggled, "Stop it… you love them all."

I sighed, "Yeah… fine, no mochi for them though."

"Otousan!" Himari called again, "some weird old guy is looking at me!"

"Hold him there Himari-chan… papa is on his way!" I called back as I grabbed my sword.
