I've barely made it around the corner to my house and my emergency before my emergency burner phone beeps. I pick it up immediately. "Agent Riveka."
~
I get there just in the nick of time, no one heard the noise. I walk in silently passing over a member in dark purple leathers. Those damn sages have already found out where she lives. I slowly take out my gun and walk my head turning in every direction as I asses the situation. The tension is palpable and its eerily silent. Everything in this section of the house seems to be in order...well everything except for…
The moment I step foot into the kitchen she startles and our eyes lock. It feels like a stab in my heart to see her like this. Stressed and hair disheveled as she takes short fast breaths, she points a gun with a fixed silencer at me. Garth doesn't hesitate to take out his as well and quickly points it to her. My eyes flare so wide in panic as every ounce of control in my body vanishes. "Are you insane?" I say to Garth.
"What just happ…" she stutters. "Happened?" she manages to finish still pointing the gun at me. Fuck, amber eyes, beautiful amber eyes, teary and filled with fear. Fear that I'm one of the people who are going to harm her. I slowly crouch down and put my gun on the ground and raise my arms in a surrendering motion while still keeping eye contact. "Hey," I start my voice a bare whisper, "come on, you're safe now. No reason to panic, Garth and I work for a security company remember….I know you're scared but I need you to put the gun down." I say to her in a slow assured tone as I look over to confirm that the other member in purple leathers is no longer a threat.
I slowly move towards her on my knees, my arms outstretched and heart racing. She could decide to kill me as well in this moment but she's also terrified as hell. I get to her as she slowly lowers her gun, and I take it sliding it over to Garth who stops the skidding weapon with his right foot and picks it up. We make eye contact briefly and he nods as he goes out of the room towards the back. Reika.
I face her and my breath catches, even in this messy wreck she's still breathtaking. My hands out of their own accord cup her face as she leans into my touch and collapses into my arms with shaky breaths and finally, tears. I pull her in closer as my left hand caresses her back and right hand checks for any injuries. She's fine, and I finally exhale and hug her as I inhale the scent of her hair. She's safe now. I remind myself, because that's what matters.

"Where is she now?" Garth asks as I step outside. "In her room, she took a shower and she's asleep." I say in the most casual tone ever. "What happpened?"
"We invited members for a sleepover." he says jokingly but I fucking shoot him a menacing glare that renders him speechless.
"Relax man, we were talking and one of them blew up the back door and attacked. I handled that one. What I don't understand is how the hell she was able to fight let alone kill the other member. I just walked into the kitchen panting then boom, she's on the floor sweating and terrified with a gun in her hand. The other member? On the other side of the kitchen, blasted into the oven with a bullet straight in the heart." he explains.
Well shit. "She's still in shock. But she's more terrified because, as she explained, she doesn't understand how she knew how to fight the figure, she calls them that. She says she felt that the moves were very familiar and her body just took over."
"My guess is after today her memories might try to break through."
"You really think so?"
"Well yeah I mean her reality must have somehow shifted in that moment and she must have a million questions." he sighs. "Questions that you should be able to answer when she wakes up in the morning." he says giving me a worried look. I take my keys out of my pocket and give them to him. He starts walking towards my car. "And Garth," he halts slowly and looks back, his eyes weary. "Don't shag my sister." I say and smile as he flips me off and walks away.
"Don't shag the assignment then, Riveka." he says with a laugh. I laugh as well, as if I would ever jeopardize her like that. I make my way into the house with a tight feeling in my chest. I sigh as I take the body bags placed on the counter and get to work getting rid of the mess made.
