Then Diana spoke.
"We have a problem, Raya."
Raya stared at Diana for a long second, her expression unreadable. The adrenaline that had spiked moments ago, fear, anticipation, dread, slowly drained from her veins, leaving behind something colder, heavier.
She exhaled softly, she sat on the couch opposite the bed, folding her arms loosely, her posture relaxed but guarded.
"No," she said calmly. "You have a problem. And please don't drag me into your problem."
Diana blinked.
The sharpness of Raya's response clearly wasn't what she had expected. She straightened instinctively, as if bracing herself, then let out a small, incredulous laugh.
"Come on," Diana said, waving a hand dismissively as she walked further into the room. "We really do have a problem."
She stopped beside the bed and sat down, the mattress dipping under her weight. Her gaze drifted around slowly, curiosity overtaking urgency.
"Wow…" she murmured. "So this is what Adrian's room looks like?"
