"What did I tell you before we went into the Blake mansion?" Adrian asked.
His voice was calm.
Too calm.
Raya's back pressed against the wall, the cold surface biting through the thin fabric of her dress. Adrian stood before her, close enough that she could feel his presence without him touching her, his warmth, his breath, the silent pressure he exerted simply by existing.
It seems there's no escaping this punishment, Raya thought.
She opened her mouth, then closed it again.
"Hm?" Adrian hummed softly when she didn't answer, his gaze unwavering.
The sound alone made her spine stiffen.
"I was just trying to..." Raya started, instinctively attempting to explain herself.
"What did I tell you not to do?" Adrian cut in.
His tone wasn't raised, yet it sliced cleanly through her words.
"Don't attract unnecessary problems," Raya replied quietly.
"And?" Adrian prompted.
"Speak only when spoken to," she continued. "And… drop my sarcasm outside."
