Amelia blinked once, gathering the last pieces of her dignity like shards scattered across a marble floor.
"I... I don't know what you're talking about," she murmured, each word soft but stubborn, a thin shield raised against the man who saw too much.
Adrian didn't argue.
He didn't dig for clarity.
He merely released a low, indifferent breath — the kind that suggested he'd already lost interest in the conversation.
"Whatever."
Then he continued, the authority in his tone sharp enough to slice the air between them.
"You'll be going with me to Paris tomorrow. Pack your things and meet me at the airport by 4 a.m." His eyes barely flicked toward her. "Failure to do so means you are ready to return to Grandfather."
The words settled on her skin like frost.
"Okay, sir."
