Inside the yellow school bus, Leo was gently rubbing Nami's very comfortable feet.
"Nami, have you been doing any sports lately? Like yoga?" he asked. Her small and exquisite feet were almost soft and boneless, but through the faint, flesh-colored black silk, he could feel a subtle muscular tenacity, as if her feet were instinctively resisting his touch.
"Yes…" she bit her lower lip, her response as subtle as a mosquito's buzz.
"When?" he asked, confused, as he began to massage her delicate ankle. He went to school with her every day, but he had never seen her participate in any sports.
"On the roof… no, just occasionally, I do aerobics in my bedroom," she whispered.
"Oh, I see."
He didn't think much of it. Most of his attention was on her perfectly small left foot. It was even more comfortable than petting Ginger.
As he was lost in a daze, his rubbing motion unconsciously turned into a stroke. His broad palm enveloped her entire pliable white foot, and then slid up along the fine-quality black silk, his five fingers greedily stretching out, feeling the exquisite silkiness.
"Woo!"
The sensation at that moment far exceeded anything she had felt before. Her body was struck by lightning, her eyes shone with crystal clear water, and she opened her small mouth with its sharp tiger teeth and bit down on his shoulder.
He cried out in pain and quickly let go of her foot.
"Woo—" she bit him, suppressing the sound that she had almost yelled out.
He smiled bitterly and let her bite. No one else on the quiet school bus noticed. After a long time, she let go, dropped her legs, and sat on the seat as if nothing had happened, her face a mask of shame.
"I'm sorry, Nami, I didn't mean to," he said apologetically, but he didn't explain too much. He couldn't very well say that he had mistaken her for Ginger, could he?
She didn't respond, nor did she look at him. She calmly held up a finger.
He knew what she meant. "I owe you another compensation, right? No problem."
As long as it's not rubbing her legs. He felt that if he continued to rub them, he might awaken some strange new hobby.
"Is your shoulder okay?" Her anger had only lasted for three seconds. She looked at his shoulder anxiously and took out a tissue to wipe off the wetness.
"It's okay, I have thick skin." He glanced at his shoulder. She hadn't bitten too hard, only leaving a tooth mark on his jacket. Otherwise, it might have triggered his "Parasite" ability again. But Nami was just an ordinary person. Even if it was triggered, it shouldn't cause any trouble.
"Leo, what's that on your left hand?" she asked, seeming to have forgotten her embarrassment.
"Ah, you mean this?" He noticed that the long sleeve of his left hand had been pulled up a bit, revealing the silver bracelet on his arm.
The "Guardian Silver Bracelet," an artifact. It was made of debris from the Aegis shield and could resist all attacks. When the arms were crossed, it could produce a powerful shield barrier and shockwave. Even his aunt, who was covered in god-like attire, ranked the Guardian Silver Bracelet second only to the Sword of Vulcan. Of course, it was a pair. With only one, its power was greatly reduced. But because of this, even in his human body, he could barely use the basic ability of this half-artifact.
"It's a lucky charm my aunt gave me," he smiled, pulling his sleeve down to cover it.
"Lucky charm?" she whispered. For some reason, she felt that she had seen that strange silver bracelet somewhere before.
When the school bus arrived in the bustling urban area of Manhattan, it was almost evening. The warm sunset fell on the high-rise buildings, and the neon lights were already beginning to light up.
Instructor Harrington and his assistant arranged a group dinner at a restaurant, and then took the students to check in at a residential apartment. By the time Leo had carried his schoolbag into his own small single room, the sun had completely disappeared.
The first day in New York was almost over before it had started. The evening was free time, but they had to be back in the apartment by 10 p.m.
Leo sat on the single bed and took out his phone to send a message to his aunt, letting her know that he had arrived safely. Just then, there was a knock on the door.
He opened it and saw Nami. She had already taken a shower, her short blonde hair still a little damp, and had changed into an intellectual and stylish dress uniform.
"Go out with me to buy clothes," she said, her arms folded. "This is the compensation I want."
"Didn't you bring enough clothes?" he asked, scratching his head.
"Not yet…" she started to say, then glared at him, turned, and walked downstairs.
He didn't know why, but he still picked up his phone and house key and followed her out the door.
On the bustling pedestrian street, he followed her into several clothing shops, and she chose a small skirt that she liked. He, finally seeming to have gotten the hint, paid for it with half a month's pocket money in advance.
The effect was significant. Nami was no longer angry, and he smiled.
As they were walking back to the apartment through a relatively remote residential area, a silver-haired boy with goggles on his forehead ran up from behind them. He suddenly concealed a woman's purse in Nami's bag, and then, pretending to hold the purse, he panted and rushed in the other direction.
Before they could even figure out what was going on, a big, cheeky man rushed past, catching up to the silver-haired boy.
"Kid, where's my bag?" the man said, grabbing the boy's shoulder angrily.
"That's not yours, you robbed her!" the silver-haired boy retorted stubbornly.
"Really?!" the man said, furious. He grabbed the boy by the collar and dragged him into a dark alley.
"Leo, take this!" Nami said, stuffing the clothes and her bag into his hands, and hurried into the alley.
He looked at the things in his hand and followed without hesitation.
