"Nothing much, really. You know I've been stuck in the hospital for years, right? Meanwhile, my brother Ethan's been getting a little too close to my father lately. I need allies at home—loyal ones. In return, you'll earn a lot more money."
The driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror with an uncertain look.
Working for me was one thing, but going up against my step brother Ethan was another.
That was fine. I already had the right words to bait him.
"Think about it. My father already has plenty of people he trusts. You're still pretty new, so climbing the ladder won't be easy." I paused, letting my words sink in.
"But if you side with me, I'll make you my right-hand man once I inherit the company. And even if I don't, I'm still his blood—so one way or another, I'll end up with a lot of money."
His grip on the wheel tightened, and he let out a deep breath.
"That's… a tempting offer, sir. But if I pick the wrong side, it's my work on the line."
I leaned back in the seat, lowering my voice.
"You've heard about my awakenings, right? My abilities are actually very powerful."
"Once I take the ranking test and earn a high grade, that's it. My position in the family will be set in stone. Talent, money, connections—none of it compares to an heir with supernatural abilities."
Of course, that was only true if I really was Daniel's son. But he didn't know that. The more he thought I was the rightful heir, the easier it would be to bring him to my side.
"Honestly, sir… Serving someone with awakened power on my side sounds a lot safer than being stuck in the middle."
He paused, lowering his voice.
"But… if your father finds out... I'm dead. You can protect me, right?"
I nodded. "Yes. And don't worry — I won't ask you to do anything dangerous. Just gather information for me."
The driver nodded, and from there, our conversation began to flow more naturally.
His name was John — fitting, really, with his blond hair and blue eyes, the kind of features you would expect from someone with that name.
He started sharing bits of what he overheard during his time in the mansion.
Apparently, Ella's and Ethan's rotten behavior wasn't much of a secret among the servants. Everyone knew, but no one dared breathe a word of it to Daniel or their mother.
Fear, loyalty, or just plain self-preservation—it didn't matter. In that house, silence was the safest choice.
For me, though, this was good news. If the servants already had a low opinion of the twins, I could use that to win them over.
I would spread my influence like a virus — quiet, invisible. By the time he realized what was happening, the whole mansion would be under my influence.
When we reached what I called the Billionaires' District, I finally let out a sigh of relief—no sane person here would dare attempt an assassination.
Regardless, it only emphasized the need for me to fully awaken so I could protect myself. Status and money were all well and good, but in the end, only my own power could guarantee my safety.
Immediately after reaching home, I headed straight back to my room and shower.
The clock read 4:00 p.m., and Ellie had already told me that Daniel and Ethan wouldn't be home until later tonight because they had a business meeting with Darkrock.
With that in mind, I made sure to finish in under ten minutes.
I made my way toward the theater room, and found Ellie and Ella already waiting for me.
The mother and daughter sat on a large grey couch, big enough to comfortably fit four people.
"Why did you call the two of us here?" Ellie asked, holding her daughter's hand tightly.
Even my abilities weren't enough to completely override her motherly instincts.
It was still under my calculation. Smiling, I walked over to Ella and gently patted her head.
"I want to date your daughter,"
Ellie's stood up abruptly. She didn't seem angry, just unsure what to say. Her hand squeezed Ella's a little tighter as she tried to process my words.
Ella just nodded quietly. The heart-shaped glow in her eyes showed that my control over thoughts where even stronger than her mother.
Ellie frowned slightly, still looking a little jealous but trying to hide it.
"You… you really mean that?"
"Yes, I do. I'm serious about her, and I'm serious about you too."
Ellie bit her lip, then grabbed my hand. Together, we walked toward a corner.
"Ace, what are you doing? Do you really expect me to just let you date both of us?"
This would have been much easier if my ability worked , but I guessed I was really asking an outrageous request.
If there were a ranking for degenerates out there, I would be near the top. Seriously. what kind of jerk would want to screw both a mother and her daughter?
But alas, my system was forcing me to this wretched path. Oh, what a hard life I lead.
"Ellie, I care about you deeply. You know that, right? And I care about her just as much. I want us to be together, to build a life where we can all find happiness and fulfillment."
Ella, under my control, spoke up softly, "Mom, I don't mind. I want to be with Ace too. He makes me feel good."
Ellie bit her lip, her resolve beginning to waver. "I... I just don't know, Ace. It's a lot to take in."
"I understand. But think about it. Think about the love and happiness we can share. Think about the future we can build together, a future where everyone is happy."
Ella nodded in agreement. "Mom, please. I want this. I want us to be together."
"I…" She was at a loss.
