Chapter 262 - Chapter 262 Phantom Wolf

After eliminating everyone on the opposing side, Zhang Jie immediately holstered his weapon and cleared the traces of the battle. Afterward, he and Anna left the forest.

The purpose of taking out this special forces squad was merely to buy time, but their escape continued, as they didn't believe Maksim would be so kind as to spare their lives.

"Tell me, what is their purpose in letting the two of us go?" Anna asked as they walked down the mountain.

"He wants to use the two of us to attract the attention of the KGB, making it easier for him to transfer that box out of Russia."

Anna had already figured out the crux of the problem. After all, the KGB also knew the importance of the box, which is why Maksim had been following them all along.

Now that his goal had been achieved, there was no need for the two of them to exist anymore. However, not killing them was merely to ensure that their value was completely squeezed dry.

"It seems he has a lot of confidence in the KGB."

Zhang Jie curled his lips. The two quickly arrived at the foot of the mountain, where several cars were parked.

Zhang Jie stepped forward and, without a word, elbowed the car window. The glass shattered. He opened the car door, pulled the wires, connected them, and started the vehicle.

"It seems you've done this quite a bit."

Anna was very surprised by Zhang Jie's skilled car-starting technique.

Casually tossing his backpack into the back seat, Zhang Jie started the car and drove away.

After the car started, the atmosphere inside became somber. Anna knew that this mission, with its many twists and turns, was unavoidable, but she hadn't expected Zhang Jie's professional capabilities to be quite good.

Zhang Jie, on the other hand, was thinking more about how to get away, as they were currently inside Russia.

With an omnipresent intelligence agency like the KGB, finding them was only a matter of time.

However, there were pros and cons. Since the box wasn't in their hands, their characteristics as targets would be much smaller.

But before leaving, the two decided they still needed to meet Maksim. Otherwise, they wouldn't leave with peace of mind.

Anna directly used her connections.

This connection didn't belong to any official channel, nor did it belong to the power behind her; it was her own.

After the call connected, Anna said, "I need support, in Moscow!"

However, the other party refused her very bluntly: "Such a big incident has happened in Russia recently. The entire Moscow is almost turned upside down. No one can get in, and no one can get out. I can't help you with this."

Anna, furious at this reply, threw her phone away. The phone hit the car window hard and bounced back.

Zhang Jie sighed, took out his own phone, and dialed John's number.

The moment the call connected, Zhang Jie immediately yelled, "Master, your beloved disciple is about to lose his life!"

John on the other end of the line was also extremely speechless.

This disciple of his seemed to be born with an unlucky constitution; he could encounter all sorts of things.

"I will send you a number. You can contact him in two hours. Before that, you must first ensure your own survival."

After speaking, he hung up the phone and quickly dialed another number.

"Ghost Wolf, it's time to honor your bet."

The scene shifted back to Zhang Jie. After receiving John's reply, he felt a slight sense of relief. Two hours was all. He should be able to last. He hoped he wouldn't be so unlucky.

What they needed to do now was to survive these two hours, but because Zhang Jie had decisively wiped out the tactical squad earlier, it had bought them a lot of time.

"Let's change our disguises first, otherwise our actions will be extremely difficult."

Anna agreed with Zhang Jie's suggestion. Then, the two began their disguises. Anna transformed into an old woman, and Zhang Jie became a middle-aged man.

Just like that, the two returned to Moscow once again.

There was no other way. They couldn't go anywhere else, and the KGB agents had all been dispatched. It wasn't safe anywhere, so returning to Moscow, which seemed like the most heavily guarded place, might offer a glimmer of hope.

And in fact, it would be much better, and after their disguises, their previous features were completely unrecognizable.

Returning to Moscow again, the two felt a bit emotional, as too much had happened in these short two days.

It gave both of them a feeling as if a lifetime had passed.

Upon returning to Moscow, the two heard another piece of news: the envoy of the American Embassy in Russia had been in a car accident and died in the river.

Hearing this news, the two immediately felt that something big was amiss. The situation in Moscow seemed to have become even more complicated.

It had completely turned into an international dispute.

The two exchanged glances, both beginning to wonder if returning was a wise choice.

However, in reality, they had no choice but to return to Moscow.

Zhang Jie dialed the number John had sent him.

"Hello, it's me, introduced by John."

Zhang Jie was also very cautious and did not expose his relationship with John.

"Moscow, Osennyaya Street, Building 1, Apartment 4, pet shop."

The other party only said this one sentence, then hung up the phone.

However, Anna understood the other party's words very clearly. She then hailed a taxi, and after getting in, she pointed in a direction, "Osennyaya Street."

The driver said nothing, just stepped on the gas and drove in that direction. Half an hour later, the two were already standing at the entrance of this pet shop.

Zhang Jie stepped forward and knocked on the door.

The door opened by itself. Behind the door stood a man with a full beard and gloomy eyes.

He beckoned, and the two cautiously walked in.

This was indeed a pet shop, with all kinds of pets inside, but the types of pets were a bit strange.

Other pet shops had dogs or cats, but all the pets here were wolves, and they were all coyotes.

"Holy shit! There are so many wolves!" Seeing all the wolves in cages, Zhang Jie couldn't help but exclaim.

"Don't worry, they are all very well-behaved."

The man responded from behind, then closed the door. As the rolling shutter slowly descended, the pet shop temporarily closed for business.

"Magrasov, you can call me Ghost Wolf. Now, tell me your requests."

The man leaned against the door, his tone very calm.

"We want to leave Russia, but before that, we need to find Maksim." Anna directly stated her request.

Zhang Jie nodded from the side.

However, the man named Ghost Wolf frowned.

"To leave Russia and also to kill Maksim, that wastes too much time. It's impossible to accomplish; you can only choose one."

Seeing the other party say this, Anna's brows furrowed deeply, but after thinking about it, she finally sighed, "Then we prioritize leaving Russia."

Although assassinating Maksim would be satisfying, the immediate priority was to ensure their own safety.

But Zhang Jie's next words stunned even Anna.

"If we want to kill Maksim, what's your price?"

Zhang Jie certainly knew that they could only choose one condition, but sometimes, a suitable increase in price was also acceptable.

Upon hearing Zhang Jie's words, Ghost Wolf's lips curved into a smile, but this smile, hidden beneath his beard, looked so ferocious.

"It's been a long time since anyone asked me for an order. Since you have this need, I will certainly satisfy you."

Ghost Wolf extended two fingers. "Just the leader of the Hungry Wolf Gang, I can eliminate him for you for 200,000 US dollars, because I don't like him either."

Zhang Jie's lips spread into a grin.
