An M4A1 hung across Jin Kaide's chest, and it was quite clear that this was the weapon he had just used to take down that guy.
As for how he got it, well, it's faster to grab what's handy than to wait for a tailwind.
Jin Kaide's old black daily passive skill triggered naturally.
But none of that mattered; since he dared to pick it up and use it, it meant there was no problem. Moreover, they were currently in a firefight, the terrain was complex, and the enemy was numerous. There was no need to fuss over such details.
"I came in through the main entrance and took out three people. How many are left?"
Jin Kaide asked the question he was more concerned about.
If he could determine the number of these guys, that would be best. If not, then they would just have to charge in.
Zhang Jie, however, was at a loss. "I'm not sure either. There are a lot of them, at least ten or more."
Alright, whatever.
Jin Kaide was too lazy to dwell on this, and footsteps were already approaching from outside. He aimed the M4A1 on his chest directly at the doorway and fired a three-round burst.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The footsteps outside immediately fell silent.
"This way."
Clearly, Jin Kaide had no intention of getting entangled with these guys. He pulled Zhang Jie along and rushed out from where he had come.
"What the f—!"
Bang! Bang!
Zhang Jie hadn't even stepped out the door when he saw Jin Kaide suddenly exclaim in surprise, followed by two gunshots, and then the sound of a body hitting the ground.
It turned out that Jin Kaide, in the instant he rushed out, had come face-to-face with another assassin. But Jin Kaide was quick on the draw, one shot to the chest and one to the head, instantly taking down the opponent.
"Motherf—!"
Jin Kaide instinctively frisked the corpse, confiscated the magazine from the opponent, and then continued forward.
Zhang Jie turned to look behind him, holding his glock 34 with both hands close to his chest, ready to fire at any moment.
Even with two people cooperating, they couldn't just blindly charge forward; the rear also needed to be observed. Again, neither of them was a superman; they would get injured if hit by bullets.
Jin Kaide, in front, charged forward relentlessly, constantly observing his surroundings vigilantly. Before long, he encountered a second assassin, and again, his shots were clean and decisive. This time, however, he didn't frisk the body.
Meanwhile, Zhang Jie kept a vigilant eye on the rear. Footsteps approached from behind, and without thinking, he raised his hand and fired two shots.
Bang! Bang!
The sparks from the bullets hitting the metal doorframe made the pursuers behind them pause again, but this wasn't a long-term solution. However, at this moment, there was no time to worry about such things.
The squad currently chasing them had already lost ten people, with three injured. There were still more people behind, which meant that at least the squad sent to pursue them this time consisted of nearly twenty people.
At least six more people were still trailing them.
"I say, is there any way to keep all of them here?" Zhang Jie asked directly.
Jin Kaide, who was clearing the path ahead, merely curled his lips at the question. "It's a bit difficult, but we can try."
However, after this short period, Zhang Jie had also recovered somewhat, so the two of them, with renewed vigor, immediately began to split up.
It was a fork in the road, with corridors on both sides. The purpose of splitting up was to deal with the people behind them. Of course, neither of them forgot to check if anyone was hiding in front of them.
However, after losing so many people, this assassin squad clearly didn't have any more personnel to deploy.
Both of them found good cover, which was essentially hiding behind protruding wall pillars.
Footsteps quickly approached, but there were only a few scattered sounds. Zhang Jie estimated there were only four people. Where did the rest go?
But there was no time to discuss such things. When they reached the end of this corridor, the people behind them were clearly stunned, because this was a fork in the road, and they didn't know whether the people went left or right.
As they hesitated, Jin Kaide and Zhang Jie appeared.
Jin Kaide stood directly, while Zhang Jie was half-kneeling. Both fired at the same time.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Jin Kaide fired four shots, killing three people, while Zhang Jie fired four shots, killing one person.
Twelve rounds remaining.
The two who had eliminated the four people did not continue to act but remained still, but no sound came from behind.
Just as the two were wondering, a whooshing sound suddenly came. Zhang Jie and Jin Kaide exchanged glances, and without thinking, they suddenly rushed out in the direction behind them, then threw themselves to the ground.
Boom!
A flash of fire!
Then a huge explosion reverberated through their eardrums.
The strong shock made Zhang Jie feel a bit uncomfortable. Fortunately, they had also put some distance between them, but the corridor amplified the effect of the shockwave.
Immediately following was, of course, the shrapnel flying everywhere. Using a fragmentation grenade in such a confined space, the enemy clearly had no intention of leaving them alive.
After getting up, Zhang Jie dodged to the side, but he also noticed something was wrong; he was injured.
His forearm and thigh were scratched by shrapnel, which was already a blessing in disguise.
Blood was constantly seeping out, but at this moment, there was no time to worry about such things.
Jin Kaide seemed to be a bit better than Zhang Jie. After getting up, he immediately ducked into cover, but there was no movement from him.
Just then, Zhang Jie heard the sound of metal scraping again.
"Damn it, it's endless!"
Just then, another burst of gunfire rang out.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Then, an explosion sounded at the other end.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
"Hey! Zhang! Big Baldy, are you two alright?"
It was Michael's voice; it seemed he had arrived too.
"Oh, thank you so much! If it weren't for your appearance, I'd probably be chatting with my grandmother by now, motherf—!" Jin Kaide was as foul-mouthed as ever.
Michael didn't mind. "I'm safe for now."
"Safe!"
"Safe!"
Jin Kaide and Zhang Jie both emerged from cover, and the three met in the corridor.
However, both noticed Zhang Jie's somewhat disheveled appearance. Yes, Zhang Jie was injured.
Michael, seeing that the two were fine, asked directly, "How is it? Are there still people?"
Zhang Jie shook his head directly, indicating he didn't know.
But Jin Kaide said, "There are people outside the door. Eight cars, it's impossible for there to be so few people. There should be others, be careful."
"I snuck in through the back door and only encountered one person."
After Jin Kaide and Zhang Jie exchanged glances, they looked at the corpse on the ground. "Him?"
"Uh-huh? Otherwise? If it weren't for me, you two would probably be covered in popping candy by now, right?"
Michael shrugged, but just then, Jin Kaide suddenly pressed Michael's head down and simultaneously pulled the trigger of the M4A1 in his hand towards the back.
Bang! Bang! Bang—!
An assassin who had just rushed out from around the corner was directly shot dead by Jin Kaide.
"F—! God! Can't you just say it directly? Don't do that to me!" Michael was speechless.
Jin Kaide, however, smiled and patted Michael's shoulder.
"Remember, I just saved your dog life, just now."
