Speaking of which, he hadn't really explored Detroit yet. Driving the beat-up, multi-hand Nissan that Wood lent him, Zhang Jie began to tour the city.
There was no need to talk about food; he had no interest in the local culinary culture.
As for the Assassin APP, there didn't seem to be many missions here either, just a bunch of strange ones that gave Zhang Jie a headache.
However, the city was also telling Zhang Jie that it was not a peaceful place, with robberies and Shooting still occurring from time to time.
But all of this seemed to have little to do with Zhang Jie.
His phone vibrated.
Zhang Jie took out his phone, and the screen displayed a message:
"Someone's been investigating you recently, little brother~ — V"
There were no extra words, but it was enough to catch his attention.
"Someone's investigating me?"
Damn it, talking halfway will get you struck by lightning, sis!
Just as he was about to call to ask, a sudden screech of tires grinding against the ground came from behind.
Zhang Jie's vigilance immediately heightened. He glanced in the rearview mirror and instantly slammed his foot on the accelerator.
Only then did the beat-up Nissan slowly begin to pick up speed… "Damn! How did Nissan manage to produce two extremes? A Nissan that's slow as hell, and a GTR that's a beast!"
He didn't have time to say much now; the people behind him were clearly coming for him!
Even if the beat-up Nissan was slow, it was still faster than his two legs, and with the cars on the road blocking them a bit, it shouldn't be a problem.
Tat-tat-tat!
Intense gunfire erupted, and people on the street scattered.
Rule number one for survival: don't get involved in a commotion!
Zhang Jie's eyes scanned around. This was a street, an open street, with no cover or concealment.
The only way was to quickly find a place with cover, otherwise, with the Nissan's thin, paper-like sheet metal, it simply couldn't block the opponent's gunfire.
After frantically observing, Zhang Jie saw the alley on the innermost street.
Then, the map instantly pinpointed that location; it was a dead end.
But there were still a few forks inside, which would help with concealment and sneak attacks.
The cars behind were getting closer; there was no time.
Zhang Jie floored the accelerator. As he neared the alley entrance, he suddenly pulled and released the handbrake, simultaneously swerving the steering wheel sharply to the right, causing the entire car to fishtail to the left.
Bang!
The beat-up Nissan directly crashed into the alley entrance by turning around, and at this moment, the gunmen opposite also raised their guns and began to fire wildly in Zhang Jie's direction.
At the same time, Zhang Jie opened the door and rolled out.
Tat-tat-tat!
Ding-ding-ding-dong!
Continuous gunfire and the sound of the Nissan being hit intertwined.
The alley was almost suffocatingly narrow, flanked by the exterior walls of old factories built in the 1960s, with dark green moss climbing over the mottled red bricks.
The ground was paved with cracked concrete slabs, from whose crevices a few clumps of weeds stubbornly sprouted, swaying gently in the breeze.
The air was filled with a pungent smell, a mixture of engine oil, rotting food, and urine.
Several rusty tin trash cans lay toppled against the wall, and at the end of the alley, construction debris was piled up—broken concrete slabs and twisted rebar, all covered in a thick layer of dust.
Sunlight was cut into narrow strips by the tall walls on both sides, casting diagonally into the center of the alley.
Floating dust was clearly visible in the beams of light. When the gunfire erupted, several pigeons perched on the fire escape flapped their wings and flew up, the sound of their wings beating exceptionally loudly in the almost enclosed space.
The wheels of 3 cars screeched on the ground, stopping and blocking the alley entrance. 8 gunmen got out and looked around cautiously. This alley was a dead end, with no exit at the other end.
Through the reflection in the glass, Zhang Jie saw the 8 gunmen, carrying submachine guns, walking in.
"No one in the car, they must have run inside."
"Kill him!"
After a glance, the 8 men immediately began to sweep the area with gunfire!
The first thing they did upon entering was raise their guns and sweep, fearing that the opponent might return fire and accidentally injure them, which would not be fun.
But Zhang Jie's hiding spot was very clever; all the bullets couldn't reach him, and he was out of their sight.
Zhang Jie was silently calculating their bullets.
The moment the gunfire ceased, Zhang Jie darted out from behind the concrete pillar.
The muzzle of the glock 34 completed three micro-adjustments within 0.3 seconds.
The first shot pierced the left gunman's Adam's apple, and a spray of blood mist erupted as the bullet exited his cervical spine.
"Fuck—!"
The guy only managed to let out a short, sharp scream, the blood spray from his throat choking off the rest of his curse, and he knelt down as if his tendons had been cut.
The second shot hit the middle enemy's tactical vest plate, the impact causing the opponent to pause slightly.
"Damn it! He's here! He's here!"
The man roared, his voice filled with terror, his finger clamped tightly on the MP5's trigger, bullets spraying wildly, sparking off the walls.
The third shot entered the same bullet hole, and with the crisp sound of the ceramic bulletproof layer shattering, the bullet shredded his lung.
"Ugh ah—!"
The shot man clutched his chest and knelt, blood foaming from his mouth, his face quickly turning ashen, "Help... help me..."
The remaining five immediately scattered, but Zhang Jie had already retreated behind cover.
"Reload! Reload!"
Someone shouted, the crisp sound of metal magazines hitting the ground accompanied by hurried breathing.
"Don't fucking crowd together! Spread out!"
Another voice roared, but the tone was already tinged with panic.
The counterattack window was only 2.8 seconds!
Zhang Jie rolled out, firing three shots consecutively while dropping to one knee.
One ricochet hit the right wall, then deflected into the third person's knee.
"Ah ah ah—my leg! My leg! Fuck!!"
The man screamed and fell, clutching his knee and rolling on the ground, blood gushing from between his fingers.
The other two shots accurately hit the fourth person's tactical helmet. The helmet was knocked askew, and the second bullet penetrated his eye socket through the gap between the visor and the helmet.
"Ugh—!"
The man grunted, his body stiffened for a moment, and his helmet hit the ground heavily, making a dull thud.
The fifth person had just raised his MP5 when Zhang Jie's sole of his shoe already kicked his shin.
"Ah—!"
The crisp sound of bone breaking was accompanied by a heart-wrenching howl. The man staggered backward, his gun firing uncontrollably into the sky.
Zhang Jie's glock 34 was already pressed against his chin.
Bang!
The moment his skull was blown off, blood and brains splattered on the wall. The headless corpse swayed for a moment, then crashed to the ground.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"
The last three finally organized crossfire, but Zhang Jie had already retreated behind the power box.
"He's there! Kill him!"
"Don't fucking shoot randomly! Conserve bullets!"
But how could Zhang Jie let him go? He leaned out, extended his gun, and the sixth bullet severed the leader's cervical spine.
"Uh... guh..."
The man made a strange gurgling sound in his throat and fell down in a bizarre twist.
The remaining two turned and ran.
"Run! Run fast!"
"This is not a human! It's a monster!"
Zhang Jie was too lazy to chase. He raised his hand and fired two shots.
Bang! Bang!
"Ah ah ah!"
"Fuck!!!"
Zhang Jie shot both of their knees from behind, blowing out their kneecaps.
The intense tearing and pain made them wail and fall to the ground. Why should I chase you when I can stop your escape with a gun?
