He reaches into his bag.
Pulls out a black silk eye mask.
Delicate. Elegant. The kind worn at masquerade balls.
"What's that for?"
He holds it carefully. Studying her face.
"Your mystery. Your privacy. Your choice."
She blinks. "What?"
"Look." He sits on the edge of her bed. Serious now. "Voice wants Staff 03's reaction filmed. That's non-negotiable. You're going to that lounge. Cameras will be rolling. Millions will be watching."
"I know. That's why I'm terrified."
"But here's the thing." He turns the mask over in his hands. "You still get to control something. Your face. Your full identity. When—or if—you reveal it."
Understanding dawns.
"The mask keeps me hidden."
"Partially. They'll see your reaction. Your body language. Your tears—because we both know you're going to cry." He smiles gently. "But your face stays yours. Your features stay private. Until you decide otherwise."
"Until I decide?"
