Soorin sat in the back of her father's car. Wearing the navy dress. Nipple patches securely in place. Hair down in soft waves.
She felt exposed. Elegant. Nervous.
"You look beautiful," Joonwoo said. Glancing in the rearview mirror.
"Thanks, Appa."
"Your mother chose well."
"She chose scandalously."
He smiled. "That too."
They pulled up to the restaurant. Luxury place in Gangnam. The kind with valet parking and a dress code.
AUREYA had rented the entire venue. Security everywhere.
"Call me when you're ready," her father said.
"Appa, I can take a taxi—"
"Call me." No room for argument.
"Okay."
She got out. Smoothed her dress. Took a breath.
Then walked inside.

The restaurant was beautiful. All warm lighting and expensive decor. Tables arranged in a large U-shape. Encouraging conversation. Mingling.
Soorin paused in the doorway.
