"No. Someone is killing people. My daughter is on that list. I'm not waiting for police to connect dots."
He picked up his whiskey. Drained it.
"She's my daughter. My only child. And I will protect her. Whether she likes it or not."
Calista stood. Walked to him. Placed a hand on his arm.
"She'll be furious if she finds out."
"Then she won't find out."
"And if she does?"
"Then I'll deal with it. But at least she'll be alive to be angry."
Calista studied his face. Then nodded slowly. "What do we do now?"
"Now? We wait. The team will move fast. They always do."
"And Soorin?"
"She stays where she is. With the idols. With security. Until this is over."
"She won't like that."
"I don't care."
He walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows. Looked out at Seoul's skyline.
Somewhere in that glittering city, his daughter was in danger.
And whoever was threatening her had no idea what they'd just unleashed.
