Chapter 11 Part 4 Breaking the Spell

The Cloud Lord had finished preparing his drug. He had Yu Ziqi fetch the Ghost-Control Elixir it could erase the mind, blanking memory; afterward, the Yinyang School could implant a new mind with soul-changing arts, creating a perfectly obedient thrall.

Meanwhile, the Cloud Lord's decoction fully unlocked human potential but at a terrible price; while the pain in activation could destroy most slaves, the rare survivor's nerves would be ruined.

So first use the Ghost-Control Elixir to erase the mind; without mind, pure flesh remains, able to endure anything.

Elite drug slaves were very hard to create; so many years, he'd refined only four such.

But Yuyuan's power had restored Yu Ziqi's mind. Yu Ziqi quietly swapped in the True Man Pill for the Ghost-Control Elixir for Shaoyu.

The True Man Pill unified body and spirit, letting one absorb the breath of nature, never sleep, immune to illness a high spiritual achievement.

It could rebuild the body, fill in gaps. The decoction tore Shaoyu's body apart; the True Man Pill protected him.

Normally, the pill took years to digest, but under the decoction's assault, its effect was rapidly absorbed, merging with Shaoyu's body.

His meridians shredded and regrew; his organs strengthened at shocking speed. Shaoyu's pitiful cries lasted, but the Cloud Lord had no interest in screams.

He left Yu Ziqi to watch over Shaoyu if he lived, the Cloud Lord gained an elite; if he died, nothing lost.

Watching Shaoyu's ordeal, Stone Orchid was distressed; Yu Ziqi, pitying her, knocked her out once the Cloud Lord left.

Several hours later, Shaoyu's screams ceased. Without the mind-erasing elixir, and with the True Man Pill, he retained his wits his physical potential heightened many fold; now, by flesh alone, he counted as a first-tier expert.

"You helped me?" Shaoyu guessed, unclear how Yu Ziqi had broken free of control.

Yu Ziqi nodded. "My time is short; I may become a thrall again at any moment. You must take little Yu and escape."

"She… took so long to find you. She'll be heartbroken."

Yu Ziqi gazed gently at his sister. "To meet once more is heaven's blessing. Later, tell her the Shu Mountain treasure is gone; they mustn't hunt it anymore."

"Let's go now the Cloud Lord may be waiting."

Indeed, the Cloud Lord expected much from Shaoyu, believing he'd achieved the best slave ever.

When the three emerged, the Cloud Lord was astonished clearly, Shaoyu still had his mind.

"True Man Pill! You took the True Man Pill! Yu Ziqi! It was you!" He glowered at Yu Ziqi, who showed no sign of being controlled.

"You think you can escape my control?" He cackled, forming curse seals; Yu Ziqi's residual Yuyuan power surged and blocked a third of the effect.

"Attack," he told Shaoyu.

With the curse failed, Shaoyu went for the Cloud Lord; the latter used his mighty illusion, swelling enormously.

Yu Ziqi had told Shaoyu before the Cloud Lord's main power was psychic, half-real and half-not; only by confronting without fear could you identify his true body.

The Cloud Lord's Nine-Dragons Illusion was daunting, but its flaw was in the giant image requiring the Cloud Lord to focus much of his power at one point.

Shaoyu faced the illusion head-on. With his immense strength, the phantom was forced backward.

The Cloud Lord quivered with rage this was the drug slave he'd wanted, able to fight head-on, but now lost to him.

Furious, he gathered all his might at the illusion, which condensed into brute substance.

"Now die!" Shaoyu growled inwardly, mustering everything and charging.

The Cloud Lord was shaken rage mixed with real fear at this life-or-death attack.

Shaoyu hammered the illusion apart; the Cloud Lord was smashed out of the room, vomiting blood.

"Catch them!" his roar came from outside; at this, the Yinyang School's power mobilized.

Yu Ziqi led Stone Orchid, dodged the slave attacks, and took Shaoyu away. He had hidden out in the Mirage for ages far more familiar than Shaoyu he got them to a safehouse, sourced disguises.

He gave the unconscious Stone Orchid to Shaoyu. "Take good care of her."

Shaoyu grabbed his hand. "Let's go together."

Yu Ziqi smiled and pushed his hand away, "I died long ago; the me that's left could become a thrall any time. A real man should never live as a slave; let me die bravely."

Yu Ziqi exposed himself and led the pursuers away.

The chase stopped at last; the Mirage had too many hidden places and secrets, many off-limits, so though the hunt was loud, without a trace, it produced nothing.

However Yu Ziqi did it, Stone Orchid only now woke up; hearing all, she clung to Shaoyu and wept.

She was resolute, though; after a time, she calmed herself, and Shaoyu comforted her.

With Tianming gone, the pair relied now only on each other their hearts closer than ever.

They lay low on the first floor; hearing Xinghun's voice from afar, they realized he did not hide his presence and so were able to sense him before he sensed them.

Getting closer, they listened Xinghun had brought the Great and Lesser Moon Commands.

Unable to enter Cherry Prison, Xinghun was not flustered. But regarding the Azure Dragon Seven Mansions, he was keen yet the Moon God held Moon under observation, barring his hand.

He chose first to hunt the ship's intruders.

That was what Shaoyu and Stone Orchid overheard Xinghun had summoned the Moon Commands to personally seek them out.

Oddly, though, after days on the Mirage, the Yinyang School had shown little real effort hunting the trio.

At that moment, Xinghun glanced toward their hiding spot; both held their breath, standing rigid.

"Lord, what's wrong?" The Great Moon Command, less skillful, couldn't see so far.

Xinghun said nothing, coldly staring down the corridor, stepping forward, his pressure freezing the air.

Shaoyu and Stone Orchid pressed tight to the wall, terrified by the presence of a youth about their own age.

Just as their nerves strained, another terrible aura burst in, smashing Xinghun's dominance.

This second force thundered in, targeting Xinghun's back. Between them, the two Moon Commands spun in surprise.

Xinghun seemed to teleport to the Moon Commands, blasting a palm wave that shattered the ambient energy; cracks formed all about.

Only then did the Great Moon Command ask in fright, "Lord, what was that?"

"That was Dragon-Travel Qi a mysterious energy from advanced Yinyang cultivation," Xinghun answered calmly.

"On this Mirage, only I and the Moon God have that mastery; but this definitely wasn't Moon God's it seems there's an unknown expert aboard."

The Moon Commands could not answer. Xinghun stared back down the corridor; all traces had been washed away by the surge even if Xinghun wished to search, he couldn't find anything.

Fleeting anger flashed in his eyes. With a strike, he blew all the doors open with a bang; but Shaoyu and Stone Orchid seized the moment and escaped.

Receiving nothing, Xinghun sneered, "You two lead the teams yourselves find those little thieves."
