Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Purifying the Chakra’s Spiritual Attributes

Chapter 62: Purifying the Chakra's Spiritual Attributes

Late at night.

On a hillside outside a bustling town.

Li Yao stood atop a tall tree, gazing down at the town below, bisected by a winding river.

It had been four hours since his escape from Konoha. The moon had already passed the mountaintop, and a faint light began to bleed into the eastern sky.

Dawn was approaching.

Li Yao needed to find something to eat—quickly.

He'd passed through many villages on his way, but none of them had lit lamps at this hour of the night.

Clearly, those villages were too poor.

However, within the dark surroundings of this town, one manor stood brightly lit with oil lamps on every corner, glowing like daylight—clearly the estate of someone extremely wealthy.

Most likely, it was the residence of the local nobility.

And only such a noble house would still have food available at this hour for Li Yao to "enjoy."

Whoosh!

He leapt from the branch, heading straight for the brightly lit manor.

Growl~

His stomach gave an uncontrollable rumble—he was starving.

Though his actual escape from Konoha had only taken a few minutes, it had involved multiple intense battles.

And having just emerged from a nutrient solution pod, his physical stamina had already been low. After expending large amounts of Wood Release chakra to regenerate his body, he was completely drained and needed food urgently to recover.

Soon.

Li Yao suppressed his chakra signature and arrived at the manor's high outer wall on the left. In the corner just beyond the wall, a ninja was crouched.

"Just as I thought. A ninja."

"Judging by the chakra… a chunin, maybe."

Li Yao smirked slightly. His choice of a bustling town wasn't just about getting a good meal.

In wealthy towns like this, noble families could afford to hire ninja as guards.

And those ninja—more precisely, their chakra—were what Li Yao was really after.

Uzumaki Mito had given him a precious parting gift during his escape from Konoha.

Her version of the Adamantine Sealing Chains.

A powerful sealing technique that could absorb others' chakra and make it your own.

Li Yao smiled inwardly. Although most of his chakra acupoints had been destroyed, limiting how much chakra he could store, he wasn't panicking—because with the Adamantine Sealing Chains copied from Mito, he could temporarily solve his low-chakra issue.

As long as he could absorb chakra from others—

He could replenish his reserves quickly.

It wouldn't fix the problem entirely, but it could at least fill up his dantian and Death Gate chakra points.

"Two ninjas—left and right."

Aside from the one crouching on the left, another ninja was positioned on the opposite corner.

Li Yao couldn't see their headbands clearly and wasn't sure if they were Konoha shinobi.

But judging by their chakra volume and strength, they were definitely weaker than the ANBU he had sensed before.

He estimated them to be at chunin level—possibly even genin.

Either way, with a sneak attack, he was confident they wouldn't pose any danger.

With a thought, he split off half of his chakra to form a Shadow Clone.

Once a technique like Shadow Clone had been performed once, Li Yao's chakra control allowed him to summon it again with just a thought—no hand signs needed.

This was one of the perks of his absolute control over chakra. Like how Hashirama could summon anything with a single hand clap, Li Yao just had to think—and it happened.

Soon, the Shadow Clone silently moved to the other side of the wall.

"Go."

They were connected through their minds. Without speaking, both Li Yao and the clone acted in perfect unison.

Clang! Clang!

Two golden chakra chains shot from their palms, phasing through the wall and piercing the two guards.

The moment the chains entered, they sealed the targets' chakra and immobilized their bodies—rendering them completely unable to move or speak.

The entire operation happened in an instant.

The two guards had no time to react before they were neutralized.

"There's an intruder!"

"My chakra...!"

As realization struck, they felt their chakra being drained—and despair filled their eyes.

"So satisfying..."

Li Yao's face revealed a look of pure pleasure as he felt the chakra rushing into his dantian and Death Gate.

The sealing technique on Mito's Adamantine Chains resembled the chakra-absorbing seal arrays he'd seen in Danzo's underground lab.

He suspected Mito might've even designed those.

Through this sealing process, the absorbed chakra was purified into raw energy—stripped of its original owner's spirit imprint—and became usable by Li Yao, fully under his control.

And that detail was crucial.

Normal ninja chakra is formed by the fusion of mental and physical energy—it naturally carries the user's intent and spiritual imprint.

Li Yao could only fuse his own chakra with his consciousness—not chakra from others.

But the Adamantine Chains' seal formula purified the stolen chakra, removing all mental attributes and turning it into pure energy.

This allowed Li Yao to merge it seamlessly into his own reserves.

"No wonder the Nine-Tails is always bound so tightly inside Kushina."

As the absorbed chakra fully merged with him, indistinguishable from his own, Li Yao couldn't help but marvel.

The Uzumaki Clan's Adamantine Chains truly were terrifying.

The Nine-Tails, a living embodiment of chakra, was filled with a malevolent will of pure hatred.

Normally, anyone sealing the beast had to constantly fight off that influence—or risk losing their sanity.

Only the Uzumaki's Adamantine Chains were domineering enough to absorb and erase the emotional will within the Nine-Tails' chakra—turning the mightiest Tailed Beast into nothing more than a chakra battery.

"Poor Nine-Tails..."

"But don't worry—I'll set you free. Consider it my repayment for helping distract Mito."

Li Yao thought to himself. Though the Nine-Tails had only done it for selfish reasons, it had still helped him. If he got the chance, he wouldn't mind freeing it.

So what happens when a ninja loses all their chakra?

The answer: not much.

They're just extremely weak—but they don't die.

Within moments, both guards had their chakra completely drained, while Li Yao's dantian and Death Gate were once again full.

Surprisingly, his current reserves were close to ANBU-level.

Apparently, he'd underestimated how much his capacity had expanded after opening all the gates—both the dantian and the remaining acupoint space had grown significantly.

This meant his chakra capacity wasn't as tragic as he'd first thought.

Tap tap.

Li Yao leapt over the wall into the courtyard. In the corner lay a young ninja wearing a Konoha headband, face pale under the lamplight, trembling as he looked at Li Yao with fear.

He couldn't be older than eighteen or nineteen.

During wartime, being assigned to guard a noble's house meant either he was weak—or had connections inside Konoha.

Li Yao didn't care about the politics.

He approached the young man, and with a thought, injected a wave of illusory chakra—Darkness Illusion Technique—into the ninja's body.

"So it works."

Li Yao smiled faintly. He had been wondering: genjutsu works by blending illusory chakra into a target's chakra system, which then manipulates their senses—sight, sound, taste—to trap them in an illusion.

But what if the person had no chakra left?

Could genjutsu still affect them?

Yes.

In fact, it was even more effective.

Li Yao had used only a vision-blocking genjutsu, but because the target had no chakra left to resist, he could directly take control of the ninja's mind.

It became a form of mental domination.

"Where's the kitchen?"

"In… the rear courtyard… there's a building marked with the word 'kitchen'…"

The ninja, fully under the influence of the illusion, trembled as he pointed toward the back of the estate, answering in a quivering voice.
