Chapter 55: Nine-Tails Jinchūriki Uzumaki Mito
"Hmm!"
"That's... such an enormous amount of chakra!"
Just as Li Yao stepped beyond Konoha's sensory barrier, he couldn't help but whip his head around. His pupils contracted slightly.
In his chakra perception, from far behind in the direction of Konoha, a person had suddenly appeared—someone whose chakra radiated like the sun, illuminating the entire village, and was now rapidly heading toward him.
That blazing presence, completely filling the scope of his chakra sense, was the first time Li Yao had ever encountered such a terrifyingly vast chakra volume.
The Third Hokage's chakra was nothing compared to it—barely even a spark next to that radiance.
"The Nine-Tails Jinchūriki…"
He didn't even need to think. Li Yao instantly identified the person.
In all of Konoha, who else besides Uzumaki Mito, the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki, could possess such terrifying chakra?
"Run!"
In an instant, Li Yao turned and bolted. A cloak of black iron chain chakra instantly materialized on his body—he no longer cared about hiding his presence.
In all of Konoha, no one restrained Li Yao more than her.
Without question, Uzumaki Mito was his worst matchup.
Her chakra reserves were monstrous.
She was even more proficient in sealing techniques than him. Her Adamantine Sealing Chains weren't inferior—likely even stronger.
In every aspect, Uzumaki Mito completely overwhelmed him.
Against the Third, Li Yao could at least put up a fight.
Against Mito, he was certain he'd be annihilated instantly.
Escape!
Escape as far as possible!
"I absolutely cannot fight Uzumaki Mito!"
Li Yao made a split-second decision—there was no way he could engage her.
Boom! Boom!
While sprinting, Li Yao slammed two black iron chains behind him into the ground and rapidly extended them, using their force to launch himself forward.
Running on foot was too slow—he couldn't outrun Uzumaki Mito chasing from behind.
His only hope was the air—leveraging his absolute chakra control to propel himself like an arrow with the chains.
Boom! Boom!
Reaching the peak of his arc, he retracted the two chains behind him and fired two more ahead, anchoring them into the ground.
Then, he pulled hard.
Twang!
Like an arrow leaving the bowstring, Li Yao shot forward through the air, instantly covering several hundred meters.
He kept using this technique to rapidly flee from Konoha.
"Such intense malice…"
"What the hell did those two brats, Hiruzen and Danzo, do?"
From the Senju clan compound, Uzumaki Mito had chased across nearly half of Konoha. As she passed the Hokage Residence, she glanced at the towering purple barrier of the Four Violet Flames Formation on the side of Hokage Rock. Her beautiful face was shadowed with gloom.
She had been preparing to enter the secret chamber to reinforce the Nine-Tails seal within her.
But then, an unprecedentedly intense wave of malice had erupted from the Root base, forcing her to halt.
She knew that place well—it was where they once conducted forbidden research to recreate her husband's Wood Release. Many powerful Senju had died there.
She had no fondness for the place.
But she also knew how important it was to Konoha.
The Wood Release regeneration project had been officially forbidden long ago, so how had such an overwhelmingly malicious presence emerged from it?
She didn't need to think twice—she immediately knew Hiruzen and Danzo had been conducting forbidden research in secret.
Initially, she hadn't planned to interfere.
But that monkey, Hiruzen, was completely useless—he'd been thoroughly outplayed.
He was still stuck fighting a shadow clone inside the Four Violet Flames Formation, while the real enemy had already concealed his chakra and slipped out of Konoha unnoticed.
Uzumaki Mito instantly deduced that the enemy had used Shadow Clone Jutsu developed by her husband's younger brother.
Only a shadow clone could deceive Hiruzen.
But what fooled Hiruzen could not fool her.
The clone carried none of the overwhelming malice she had sensed.
The real Li Yao radiated a far more intense malice than the clone ever could.
Uzumaki Mito couldn't bear to see an enemy with such malice against Konoha escape into the world her husband had sacrificed to build.
She immediately released the chakra stored in her Yin Seal, restoring her youthful body, and dashed out of the Senju compound toward Li Yao.
Ever since becoming the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki, Uzumaki Mito had awakened a special sensory ability—she could perceive malice.
The closer someone was, the sharper her perception became. Even if malice flashed by for an instant, she would detect it.
Conversely, the farther they were, the more diluted the perception.
Like eyesight—people nearby were clear, faraway ones blurred.
But if someone's malice was strong enough, it could be sensed from a great distance.
Just like seeing a two-meter-tall man from kilometers away would be hard—
But if that man were a giant, a hundred or even a thousand meters tall, you'd see him clearly even from far away.
The malice Li Yao radiated now was like a thousand-meter-tall giant—so overwhelming that even from seven or eight kilometers away, Uzumaki Mito could sense him clearly.
She had never sensed such terrifying, overpowering hatred.
Perhaps only the Nine-Tails, the embodiment of hatred, could surpass this.
And Li Yao—this man filled with such malice—not only could use Shadow Clones, he also had an unparalleled ability to suppress chakra signatures.
A terrifying enemy like that would undoubtedly threaten Konoha.
Uzumaki Mito would never let him leave.
"Hm?"
"His speed just increased."
Her curved eyebrows drew together slightly.
From this distance, she couldn't see or sense Li Yao's black iron chains. She didn't know he had changed his mode of travel.
But it was clear that his speed had increased.
At this rate, she wouldn't catch him in time unless she moved faster.
"Nine-Tails, I'm borrowing your chakra."
She spoke aloud, forcibly drawing on the Nine-Tails' power to form a golden chakra cloak around herself—activating a mode similar to Naruto's future Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.
The Nine-Tails: "..."
Inside her sealed inner world, the massive form of the Nine-Tails was pinned to a gigantic spiked boulder.
Its limbs, nine tails, and even neck were each nailed down by massive spikes, while thick Adamantine Sealing Chains mummified its body, leaving only its eyes free—eyes full of hatred.
Compared to Naruto's future cozy little seal room—
The Nine-Tails inside Uzumaki Mito's seal truly had it rough.
It was completely immobilized—not even allowed to breathe freely.
And its chakra? Mito took it however and whenever she wanted.
Worst of all, the Nine-Tails couldn't resist.
No wonder it would one day choose to forgive Naruto and walk beside him.
Compared to his predecessors, Naruto gave the Nine-Tails a downright luxurious prison life.
Boom! Boom!
Wrapped in the golden Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, Uzumaki Mito burst forward with explosive speed, shattering the sound barrier as she closed in on Li Yao.
