Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Naynah's POV

As soon as I stepped into my room, I destroyed everything in sight to vent out Ava's frustration. Why? Because I wanted answers from the Moon Goddess herself. For over an hour, my room had been in ruins, and I was on the verge of having a breakdown when I heard the soft voice of auntie.

" Naynah, may I come in?" asked auntie

I took a few deep breaths before answering.

"Yes, Auntie, you can come in." I replied

She entered, shocked at the state of my room.

" what happened here?" she asked

I forced a calm smile, though it was probably my usual cold one.

"Just a little outburst." I said

"Oh, sweetheart" she said

Like she always did, she pulled me into her arms as if I were still a little child. But, as usual, I didn't return the embrace. I was too used to being cold toward everyone. She broke the hug and looked at me.

"What made you so angry" asked Auntie

" Mother, as always." I replied

" Oh, sweetheart" she said

She guided me to the couch if it could still be called that and sat down beside me, her eyes full of sympathy. I hated it.

"She's showing you affection, but you insist on playing the cold-hearted killer." said Ava

" Don't start, Ava." I said

" I'm sorry, sweetheart" said auntie

I stared at her, confused. Why was she apologizing?

" I I'm leaving." she said

The shock hit me hard. The only person who ever showed me affection was going to leave me.

" WHAT?!" I shouted

"I I found my mate. He's the Alpha of Red Moon." she replied

"What?! That's on the other side of the world!" I said

" I know, sweetheart ." said auntie

She ran her fingers gently through my hair.

" I'll miss you too, but he's my mate, chosen for me by the Goddess. I must be by his side." said Auntie

Tears rolled down my cheeks. My aunt brushed them away. It had been so long since I last cried Mother had forbidden me to. Once, when she caught me crying, she locked me in the closet for three days. Since then, I had sworn never to cry again. But now… my protector was leaving me.

" Please, don't cry. You're strong, alright? If the Alpha sees you cry, she'll lock you in the dungeons." said auntie

" I don't care! How can I not cry? You're my guide and now you're leaving me. I'll miss you too much, Auntie." I said

She hugged me again, but still, I didn' t respond.

" My beautiful niece, I'll miss you too." she said

I wiped her tears away, feeling my wolf share my sorrow.

" Tell her I'm here. I want to see her." said Ava

" Auntie, there's someone who wants to talk to you." I said to auntie

She gave me a puzzled look.

" Alright, where is she?" she asked

Her mouth dropped open in shock as I felt Ava push forward. My eyes must have darkened.

" Hello, Auntie." said Ava

" You.. you have a wolf?" asked auntie

" I am Ava. I've been with her since she was fourteen." said Ava

" But why didn't Naynah ever say anything?" asked auntie

"Because I told her not to tell anyone." said Ava

" But why?! You kept her from saying it? Everyone knows Alphas only shift at sixteen, not fourteen" said auntie

" Because the Goddess chose her for a great destiny. She was chosen to be the strongest Alpha ever born. But please, don't tell anyone she has her wolf already. If people knew, her life would be in danger. Not even our mother must know." said Ava

"You have my word, Ava." said auntie

"Thank you, Auntie. The reason I wanted you to know is simple, we love you. Even if this idiot never says it, we both love you. You're the caring mother we never had. We adore you, and we'll miss you more than words can say." said Ava

"Oh, Ava, I wish I had met you sooner. We could have spent time together. But don't worry, I'll come back to visit, and we'll run together. I love you both." said auntie

"Thank you, Auntie. I love you so much. I'll miss you dearly, I'll let Naynah take over again now." said Ava

Ava withdrew, and I returned to myself.

" sweetheart , I'm happy for you. Don' t worry, I won't tell a soul." said Auntie

" I love you, auntie " I said

" me too, I love you,oh I still have to call Liam to inform him. I'll see you later, sweetheart " said auntie

She kissed my forehead and stood. With a smile, she added:

"I adore your wolf."

Then she left.

" What did you tell her?" I asked to Ava

" That I love her, and that I'll miss her deeply." said Ava

I realized then I would soon be left alone with my mother. I wanted to stay with my aunt. She was everything my mother wasn't. She would be a perfect mother to her children, and a Luna who would be respected and loved by her pack.

I sighed heavily and headed to the bathroom. Sinking into the tub, I stayed there for over an hour, unwilling to get out. My life had always been so complicated that even I felt lost. I had my wolf at fourteen, but I had to hide her even from myself because of some danger I didn't even understand. Then came Olivia, the Beta's daughter, who constantly bullied me because she was eighteen and already had her wolf. And Mother, always suffocating me with lessons about being a worthy Alpha. I'd had enough.

My phone rang. I checked the caller.

"Yes, Alpha" I said

"Come to my office. Now." she said She hung up.

Reluctantly, I left the bath and got dressed quickly. Mother always timed how long it took me to come down the stairs, so I had to hurry. I reached her door, breathless. Knocking, I heard her voice telling me to enter. I inhaled deeply, exhaled, and stepped inside.

"You're finally here." said my mother

As if she couldn't think of anything else to say whenever I entered her office.

" I called you here for a reason." she continued

Curious, I waited for her explanation.

"I've realized your training here isn't enough. That's why I'll be sending you to London. And once you're there, you'll kill the princess of the sorcerers." a

What?! She can't be serious

"What?!" I muttered

"You won't only go there to kill. You'll also train. The training there is much harsher. But you must be careful, there are humans and other supernatural beings mixed in." said my mother

my mission was to kill the very person I was supposed to ally with, while training harder than ever. But I didn't want to go. Not at all.

" But I don't want to go" I muttered, almost sulking like a child.

" Oh, you'll go whether you want to or not. I'm sending you there for your own good." said my mother

Naynah: For my own good, you want me to kill?

I snapped, daring to stand up to her for once.

" Yes. You will avenge your family by killing the bloodline of the one who murdered my sister. I forbid you to feel pity for her. Whether you like it or not, you will go to London and kill that girl without remorse. And then you'll become a true warrior. Because after the princess is dead, we'll go after the vampires. So yes, you will go. Is that clear?" said my mother

" Yes, Alpha." I said biting my lip.

" I didn't hear you properly. Did you understand my orders?" said my mother

" At your command, Alpha. I'll do everything you've asked." I said

" Good. You may leave." said my mother

I turned and walked out. I couldn't believe it, she had just used her Alpha tone on me. It forced me to submit, like everyone else. My aunt hadn't even left yet, and I was already facing this nightmare. What an incredible beginning.

I closed my eyes and sighed, struggling to keep my calm.
