The words hung in the air like smoke. Isabella's heart slammed against her ribs.
She wanted to scream, deny it, claw at the truth until it disappeared but deep down, something inside her whispered that it fit.

She rose to her feet, shaking.

"If I wanted to destroy you, Isabella, I would've let them take you tonight.
I would've walked away and watched your world burn.
