Thorne had lists for everything, and the one he kept looking at was the shortest.
The others were the ordinary work of putting three governments on one mountain for six days: rooms, water, who sleeps above whom, which stairs a person with a bad knee should not be given, who is permitted where and at what hour, and the separate page of things that had to be moved out of sight before anybody arrived, which he had written in his own shorthand and had not shown to a single person.
The short list had four lines on it and no names.
