Chapter 46 - 46

"I will be leaving for a sect mission." Inside the luxurious room, Cang Yue spoke in a soft voice.

"Don't run around and do not visit those two women under any conditions. The sect is in turmoil right now, and those bitches from Heavenly Sword Sect are killing indiscriminately. It would be bad if you got caught in the crossfire."

Speaking till here, she looked at the expressionless woman sitting near the window who was looking out in a daze before shaking her head.

"Wan'er." Cang Yue called out to her sister softly. Even though the two of them haven't seen each other in decades, it didn't diminish their love in the slightest. They might be annoyed by one another, but their care and affection for each other were as true as the sun above their head. Especially reuniting after such a long time.

"....." Lin Wan slightly turned around her flawless face, looked at her younger sister before averting her gaze again.

"Then... take care." With some hesitation, Cang Yue let out a heavy sigh before walking out of the room.

Closing the door behind her, she took a deep breath, wanting to throw away those depressing feelings. She now has a much bigger issue on hand... The ambush of Heavenly Sword Sect members.

She wasn't afraid of getting into trouble or failing the ambush. On the contrary, she was looking forward to it. Instead, it was the matter of the boy that troubled her the most.

"Should I just use him to increase my strength now, or should I wait till I am ready?" Ambushing the members of Heavenly Sword Sect was no joke, and she needed every bit of strength for it to be successful. Using the boy now could perhaps help her increase her strength tremendously, and perhaps she could even step into the realm of Core condensation.

"But it would be a short-sighted plan." Narrowing her eyes, she thought about every single possibility before coming to a conclusion. She was going to leave the boy for now.

Even if she slept with him, it would still take a lot of time and effort to strengthen herself. After all, she was already at the Fifth Vein Expansion realm, and the only way forward was Core condensation. She could try to increase her internal energy, but it would be just increasing the pool, without any substantial changes.

Only when she comprehends the elements would she make a qualitative leap. And to do that, she needed time. Something that would take perhaps days or weeks.

It wasn't something that could be done in a span of hours.

Unlike the so-called grand elders who seemed eager to take action against the Heavenly Sword Sect, she knew the importance of patience. She was going to take her sweet time. When the time is ripe, she would devour the boy bit by bit. After all, she didn't just want to keep him as a flesh toy.

Making up her mind, she took a step forward before disappearing from the place.

-----------

Lin Wan, on the other hand, seemed oblivious to her sister's action. Her mind was still occupied with the thoughts of Lin Yue and Xiao Ruolan. Even though she never liked to show any visible affection to the two of them, deep in her heart, she loved them like a family. She was like an older sister to the two of them, and they looked up to her.

Now that their relationship was at almost its breaking point.

"Even if I get stronger, what good will it do?" Earlier, Lin Wan thought that if she just got stronger, all her problems would vanish. This was her motto since she was a child. But the stronger she got, the more she realised just how insignificant she was. No matter how strong she got, it never solved any problems.

In fact, she never considered it till yesterday, but all her problems had nothing to do with strength. Her sole goal in life was to find her missing sister and mother, who were taken away by people in black robes. She wanted revenge; she wanted to torture and kill those bastards. But now... She had already found her mother and sister.

As for those people in black robes... they all were killed by her mother.

When Cang Yue told her this, she became like a headless chicken. Without any purpose, without any goal.

She then thought about taking Lin Yue and Xiao Ruolan out of this sect. But things escalated to such a degree that the two of them now hate her.

Even if she was the strongest being in the world, it wasn't going to change their mind.

"Heh... Then what even is the use of cultivation?" This question popped up in her head last night when she was riding that boy, and it was this question that made her walk away in the middle.

All her ambitions, all her goals... they seemed so laughable now. She didn't know what she was even supposed to do now.

As she sat there in a daze, completely oblivious to her surroundings, an enchanting figure quietly appeared behind her.

The figure was that of a woman in her thirties with a lazy expression as she looked around before sitting comfortably on the cushion and placing her soft, creamy, bare feet on the table while her eyes glanced at Lin Wan's figure.

She didn't speak a word, but just sat there in silence.

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours. Lin Wan didn't know how long she had been sitting there. She was just about to walk around for a while to clear her head, but the moment she turned around, her eyes narrowed into slits and her breathing almost stopped.

She didn't know when another person had quietly appeared behind her. She was about to ask who she was, but before she could even open her mouth to speak, she saw the soft moonlight glow, illuminating that person's exquisite face.

In that instant, Lin Wan felt that time itself had stopped. That same exquisite face, that same familiar eyes and that lazy expression... How could she ever forget it?

How many times had she woken up from a nightmare, wishing to go into the embrace of this figure?

How many times had she wished to see this familiar face one more time?

How many times had she wanted to hold this figure and pour out all her grievances?

And now that she had finally found her, she felt at a loss. She wanted to say a million things; she wanted to just run into her embrace, but years seemed to have formed an invisible barrier between the two of them.

In the end, all her words, all her grievances and all her emotions turned into a single word as she uttered them with a hoarse, trembling voice, full of longing and hesitation...

"Mother!"

It took all her strength to utter a single word, and when she spoke, Lin Wan's heart was filled with dread. Even though Cang Yue told her the truth and their identities, she still had an ounce of doubt in her heart. But now... the appearance of the woman in front of her squashed that doubt too. The only thing left now was the confusion and fear. What if her mother refused to reconginse her? What was she going to do then?

With a mind full of these questions, she quietly looked at the woman in front of her with eyes filled with expectations.

The woman sitting there didn't immediately reply but quietly looked at Lin Wan. She seemed to be going through similar emotions as well.

She opened her glossy cherry lips a few times, but closed them mid-way. It wasn't until a few more minutes had passed that she spoke in a soft voice.

"Wan'er."

A single word, but it was enough to smash all the invisible emotional barriers between the two of them.

Lin Wan, who was still dreading the outcome, finally couldn't bear it anymore. Without any hesitation, she jumped towards the woman sitting there with all her might.

"MOM." She held the woman tightly, embracing her with all her might. She didn't say any fancy words. She just held her quietly, sobbing.

There were a million things she wanted to say... she wanted to ask her how she had been, what happened and how she ended up here. She wanted to tell her everything that happened to her, from the smallest of her happiness to her most depressing stories. But all those words... all those emotions... everything seemed so insignificant at this moment.

Yun Ning didn't say anything. She quietly held her daughter in her arms as the two of them hugged. Their breasts pressed against with such force that they almost flattened. Even the thin layer of clothing that was protecting her breasts from jumping out felt like it could be torn apart at any moment.

Her usual lazy face had a rare expression of happiness as well as heartache as she held her daughter. Who would have thought that the usual lazy Grand Elder of the Duality sect would have such a moment of tenderness?

The two of them held each other in silence for a long time. While Lin Wan kept on sobbing, Yun Ning quietly caressed her back, trying to calm her down.

The two of them lost track of time. It wasn't until a long time had passed that Lin Wan finally parted from the embrace of her mother before holding her soft hands with tears in her eyes.

"Wha... What happened?" She muttered those words with some difficulty. "What happened after you were taken away? How did you end up here?"

Even though she had a general understanding from Cang Yue, she wanted to know it from her mother.

"About that..." Yun Ning let out a soft breath as she adjusted her plump buttocks into a comfortable position and began to narrate the events that took place twenty years ago.
