Chapter 187 - Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus

Tornadus, the Cyclone Pokémon, is one of the three legendary cloud Pokémon of the Unova region.

It possesses the power to create violent storms. Legend says that it is the winds stirred by Tornadus that churn the atmosphere, allowing the seasons to cycle endlessly.

At this moment, the sky above Undella Town was completely shrouded in dark clouds. A violent storm swept across the town, its pressure so intense that even Pokémon instinctively sought shelter.

Humans and Pokémon alike hurried indoors, forced back by the sudden change in weather.

Before long, a torrential downpour followed.

"It's raining so hard!"

"Good thing we got inside in time, otherwise we'd be soaked through!"

Relieved voices rose from within the shelters.

As abruptly as it had come, the storm passed.

Barely ten minutes later, the rain stopped entirely. The dark clouds scattered, revealing a clear sky once more, proof that the storm had moved south.

Lucien watched the direction it departed with keen interest.

As far as he knew, the three cloud legends of Unova were exceptionally special.

Tornadus stirred storms and atmospheric currents.

Thundurus summoned thunder and lightning, scorching the land with wild bolts from the sky.

Landorus possessed the power to nourish the earth itself.

Energy flowed from Landorus's tail, restoring depleted soil and allowing crops to flourish.

Legend claimed that wherever Landorus passed, harvests would be abundant. For this reason, it was worshipped as the god of agriculture, and the people of Unova had built the Shrine of Abundance in its honor.

If Landorus could be guided, then agricultural yields across Unova could increase dramatically.

Lucien's heart stirred at the thought.

With that thought, Lucien stepped out of the restaurant. He released Kyurem, mounted its back, and pursued the storm's trail.

Before long, a dense, heavy cloud appeared in the sky ahead.

"It's inside," Kyurem's voice echoed in his mind. "Should I stop it?"

Lucien shook his head.

"Not yet. I want to observe Tornadus's path."

Kyurem said nothing more. It concealed its presence completely, suppressing its aura so thoroughly that even a legendary Pokémon would struggle to detect it. Maintaining a careful distance, it followed in silence.

Tornadus was astonishingly fast, nearly three hundred kilometers per hour, racing across the skies of Unova while dragging storms and violent air currents in its wake.

After leaving Undella Town, it continued southwest.

That direction led toward Black City.

Lucien was surprised, but before he could dwell on it, a second dark cloud suddenly manifested directly ahead of Tornadus.

Lightning writhed within it. Thunder roared.

Bolts of electricity struck the land below, scorching forests and shaking the earth.

Lucien's eyes narrowed.

Thundurus.

Like Tornadus, Thundurus roamed the skies of Unova, bringing thunder, lightning, and destructive fires. Because of the devastation it caused, it was widely feared and despised by humans.

That was why the people of Unova only built shrines to Landorus, not to the other two.

As Lucien gazed at the two storm clouds rapidly converging, another realization surfaced.

The three legendary cloud Pokémon were vital to the balance of the world, yet they clashed with one another, much like Groudon and Kyogre.

In midair, Tornadus, still moving at tremendous speed, collided with Thundurus.

The sky transformed instantly.

A catastrophic storm erupted. Winds screamed across the land. Lightning split the heavens, striking forests and fields alike.

Within the clouds, the two legendary Pokémon battled.

Obscured by the storm, Lucien could not see them clearly, only fleeting silhouettes revealed by flashes of lightning.

"Should I intervene?" Kyurem asked quietly.

Lucien shook his head.

"No. This is a natural cycle."

"After storm and thunder, the land will be renewed."

Kyurem gave a low hum and continued watching in silence.

Far below the raging clouds, at the forest's edge between Undella Town and Black City, lay a small village.

The storm swept over it mercilessly.

Villagers huddled inside their homes, trembling as thunder roared overhead. Such weather was unheard of. No one could remember a storm like this in living memory.

Some could not resist peering outside, desperate to understand what was happening.

Then a bolt of lightning split the horizon, illuminating the sky in blinding white.

With the help of the lightning, the villagers could clearly see something battling within the clouds above.

"What is that?!" a young man swallowed hard, his voice trembling.

The other villagers also raised their heads, staring at the sky in terror.

Were those Pokémon?

Was this terrifying storm caused by them?

But what kind of Pokémon could possess such overwhelming power?

Fear and shock spread through the village like wildfire.

At that moment, the sky changed again.

A beam of light shot across the distant horizon, racing toward the two Pokémon fighting in the clouds. The instant it arrived, it plunged directly into the heart of the storm.

"So it really has come. Landorus," Lucien said softly, excitement flickering in his eyes.

According to legend, Landorus would appear to stop the conflict between the wind and the thunder.

The violent energy produced by Tornadus and Thundurus would be absorbed by Landorus, then returned to the land of Unova, enriching the soil and restoring balance.

This was a natural cycle unique to the Unova region.

That was why Lucien had not interfered earlier.

As Landorus joined the clash, the battle did not intensify. Instead, it slowly began to calm.

The raging winds weakened.

The torrential rain eased.

The lightning that had scorched the earth vanished.

High above, the dark clouds gradually dispersed, and sunlight once again poured down upon the land.

At that moment, wind energy, lightning, and earth power converged within Landorus, the three forces intertwining and triggering a wondrous reaction.

The next second, under Lucien's watchful gaze and the astonished stares of the villagers below, Landorus erupted in radiant light.

Within that brilliance, its form shifted.

The cloud-riding humanoid figure transformed into a massive, orange, tiger-like divine beast.

"Roar!"

Landorus let out a thunderous cry and soared across the sky in its sacred form.

Countless motes of golden light fell from its body, drifting gently toward the ground.

Then, a miracle unfolded.

Crops and vegetation began to grow at a visible pace.

In mere moments, fragile green shoots transformed into vast fields of golden wheat.

The villagers stood frozen, eyes wide.

"Gods…" the old village chief whispered.

Lucien observed the transformation below with calm satisfaction.

"Just as the legends say."

As Landorus began to withdraw, Lucien turned to Kyurem.

"Kyurem, now."

Kyurem immediately released its suppressed presence.

Its colossal body burst forth, descending in divine majesty before Landorus.

The sudden appearance startled the earth deity.

Landorus stared at the towering dragon and the human upon its back, eyes filled with caution.

At the same time, Tornadus and Thundurus, who had been preparing to depart together, sensed Kyurem's overwhelming aura and halted.

The two storm Pokémon moved instantly, positioning themselves beside Landorus.

Their rivalry was fierce, but when facing an unknown external threat, they would unite without hesitation.

Lucien looked at the three legendary cloud Pokémon before him and smiled.

"Greetings, Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus."

The three remained silent, their gazes sharp as they scrutinized the human before them, clearly puzzled by his knowledge of their identities.

Lucien spoke calmly.

"My name is Lucien. I am the current king of this land. I witnessed your power firsthand today and was deeply impressed, so I wished to introduce myself."

Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus: "..."

Hearing this, the usually hot-tempered Thundurus softened slightly.

The human before him had openly acknowledged their power, and that much was undeniably true. They were powerful.

However, Tornadus interpreted those words as praise directed specifically at itself.

The two storm Pokémon exchanged sharp glances, sparks practically flying between them as tension rose once more.

Finally, both turned their eyes toward Lucien, clearly waiting for his judgment.

Which of them was stronger?

Landorus stared at Lucien in silence.

It had just finished mediating their fight, and now this was happening again.

For a brief moment, a trace of resentment flickered across Landorus's expression.

Lucien, however, had never intended to offend any Pokémon.

So he answered decisively.

"If we are speaking purely of strength, then Kyurem is without question the strongest."

Kyurem, standing beneath Lucien, released a low breath from its nostrils and gave a small nod, calmly agreeing.

Having reclaimed its complete power, it truly stood at the pinnacle of this land.

The moment Lucien finished speaking, Thundurus and Tornadus shifted their gazes to Kyurem.

An overwhelming pressure swept across the sky.

Both storm Pokémon stiffened, their expressions instantly turning serious.

Even so, neither of them was willing to accept this without proof.

They glanced at each other, exchanged a silent understanding, and then turned back toward Lucien and Kyurem.

Seeing this, Lucien paused briefly before asking, "You two want to challenge Kyurem together?"

Thundurus and Tornadus nodded without hesitation.

Lucien then turned his gaze to the third figure. "Landorus, will you join as well?"

Landorus shook its head.

It had no interest in combat.

Its purpose was to nurture the land, enrich the soil, and watch crops and forests flourish. Simply witnessing life grow filled it with quiet satisfaction.

It indicated that the others could fight while it observed from the side.

"In that case," Lucien said calmly, "Kyurem, accept their challenge."

Kyurem inclined its head. "Very well."

Lucien released Dragonite from its Poké Ball and mounted its back, moving to the side together with Landorus to observe.

Thundurus and Tornadus fixed Kyurem with hostile glares.

Kyurem remained utterly unmoved.

Its posture was relaxed, its gaze calm and composed as it faced the two legendary storm Pokémon. Yet despite its stillness, an overwhelming sense of dominance radiated from it.

The sky itself became their battlefield.

In the next instant, Thundurus and Tornadus moved.

From the left and right, storms capable of shredding everything and lightning powerful enough to annihilate all struck simultaneously, converging on Kyurem in a devastating pincer attack.

Watching this scene unfold, Lucien could not help but feel a surge of envy.

Tornadus clouds help generate wind power.

Thundurus clouds help generate electricity directly.

And Landorus enriches the soil, making the land fertile and crops abundant.

The three cloud gods of Unova truly were perfect masters of agriculture.

Faced with the pincer attack from Tornadus and Thundurus, Kyurem finally moved.

Its massive body neither dodged nor retreated. Instead, it released an even more violent surge of blue lightning.

The lightning seemed alive, splitting into two arcs as it surged toward Tornadus and Thundurus from opposite directions.

Thundurus's proud lightning was instantly shattered.

Kyurem's lightning, infused with extreme cold, crushed it effortlessly and continued straight toward Thundurus.

At the same time, Tornadus's raging storm appeared fragile and powerless before the attack.

Both legendary Pokémon changed expression instantly.

They attempted to evade, but the lightning clung to them like a living thing, relentlessly pursuing them until it completely engulfed their bodies.

Two heavy impacts followed.

Boom!

Tornadus and Thundurus were blasted straight into the ground, carving a massive crater into the earth.

The thunderous noise sent nearby wild Pokémon fleeing in panic.

A single strike.

The battle was already over.

Moments later, Tornadus and Thundurus struggled back into the air, their bodies covered in dust and debris. They stared at Kyurem and Lucien with unmistakable fear.

Kyurem stood calmly in the sky, its expression unchanged, radiating the composure of an absolute ruler.

Lucien smiled and flew forward, producing several vials from his bag.

"These are potions refined from Petilil leaves," he said gently. "Drink them. Your injuries will heal."

Tornadus and Thundurus hesitated only briefly before drinking the medicine.

Warm energy surged through their bodies, and their wounds vanished almost instantly.

They lifted their heads to look at Kyurem, awe and respect filling their eyes.

They could no longer deny it.

The dragon before them was the strongest Pokémon they had ever encountered.

The battle had ended, and the two storm gods prepared to depart together.

But just as they turned away, Lucien's voice rang out.

"Wait."

Tornadus and Thundurus paused and turned back, confusion evident in their expressions.

Lucien looked from them to Landorus, then smiled calmly.

"Landorus. Tornadus. Thundurus," he said.

"How about cooperating with us humans?"
