After a while, Archer finished preparing dinner.
Everyone gathered around the dining table.
Taking the opportunity, Emiya briefly explained the plan.
After dinner, they would raid the Matou household.
Archer listened calmly.
"I don't have a problem with that."
"But Sakura cannot be harmed."
Emiya looked at him in surprise.
"Don't tell me you're from the Sakura route."
Archer snorted.
"That's none of your business."
"As if I want to know," Emiya said.
"Psh. You scoundrel."
Archer's face flushed.
He was about to retort, but noticed Rin looking at him with a meaningful gaze.
He shut his mouth.
Medea spoke indifferently.
"I have no interest in this matter, Master."
Her current task was transforming Illya's former body into the true Lesser Holy Grail.
Emiya shook his head.
"I need you to deal with the Crest Worms inside Sakura Matou."
"And dig out Zouken Matou."
Medea nodded.
"Since it's my Master's command, I will obey."
CĂş Chulainn asked, "What about me?"
"Zouken Matou most likely summoned Assassin," Emiya said.
"Hassan of the Cursed Arm."
"Your job is to hold him off. Or kill him."
He said most likely for a reason.
In the Sakura route, Zouken used a backdoor in the Fuyuki Grail system.
He used KojirĹŤ Sasaki's body as a catalyst and summoned the true Assassin mid-war.
But in this world, Medea hadn't summoned KojirĹŤ.
So Emiya wasn't sure.
In the Saber and Rin routes, Zouken and Hassan never appeared at all.
CĂş Chulainn grinned.
"If he shows up, leave it to me."
Artoria asked, "And me?"
"You and Archer will hold off Medusa," Emiya said.
"Remember-don't kill her."
Artoria nodded without hesitation.
Archer, however, scoffed.
"Don't tell me you've taken a liking to Medusa."
"I guess so," Emiya replied.
"Who wouldn't want someone as beautiful as her?"
"Psh. Scoundrel," Archer shot back.
Emiya nodded calmly.
"Thank you."
Archer: "..."
This guy was shameless.
Medea's eyes flickered dangerously.
She said nothing.
Instead, she gave Emiya a deep look and lowered her head.
For some reason, Emiya felt a chill.
Hercules spoke up.
"Do you need my help?"
Emiya shook his head.
"Not for now."
With Medea, CĂş Chulainn, Artoria, and Archer, this was already overkill.
Hassan and Medusa alone couldn't turn the tide.
Gilgamesh was already dead.
No one else could interfere.
After dinner, they left Einzbern Castle and headed straight for the Matou residence.
They arrived quickly.
As a magus family, the Matou estate was large and well-maintained.
But now-
"Say hello, Medea," Emiya said softly.
Medea nodded.
Magic circles unfolded behind her in layers.
A storm of magical missiles rained down from the sky.
The Matou estate was instantly engulfed.
One defensive barrier after another activated.
Of course they had defenses.
But those were meant for ordinary magi.
Against an Age of Gods Magus, they were meaningless.
Medea precisely targeted the weakest points.
The barriers shattered one by one.
The entire Matou household was thrown into chaos.
Inside a study, Zouken Matou slowly opened his eyes.
A cold smile formed on his lips.
"Go."
A dark shadow appeared beside him and vanished instantly.
CĂş Chulainn sensed it and laughed.
"Leave it to me!"
The next second, he met Hassan head-on.
Emiya narrowed his eyes.
So Zouken really had summoned Hassan of the Cursed Arm.
Was this because of him?
It didn't matter.
Hassan wasn't strong enough to change the outcome.
The group advanced, entering the estate and moving down the second-floor corridor.
Whoosh.
A chained dagger shot out of the void, flying straight toward Emiya's forehead.
Artoria and Archer moved at the same time.
Artoria blocked the blade.
Archer dashed toward Medusa's hiding place.
"I'll find Sakura," Rin said.
Emiya smiled.
He and Medea continued forward until they reached a study.
He pushed the door open.
Inside sat a bald old man.
His limbs were thin like a corpse's.
His eyes were sunken and sharp.
Hunched.
Short.
Even his movements were unsettling.
Despite the clean kimono and cane, a rotten stench filled the room.
Zouken Matou.
"Kill him," Emiya said flatly.
Zouken froze.
...What?
Shouldn't there be talking?
Threats?
Negotiation?
Medea stepped forward.
"No problem, Master."
Her magic spread outward like water.
Zouken's expression shifted.
He immediately activated his specialty.
Worm magecraft.
Countless insects poured out, surrounding them from all directions.
"Devour them," Zouken rasped.
Medea took another step.
Flames erupted outward, centered on her and Emiya.
The carpet remained untouched.
Furniture unharmed.
Books unburned.
Only the worms turned to ash.
This was the difference.
An Age of Gods Magus didn't need close combat.
Zouken understood immediately.
He couldn't survive this.
He stared at Emiya with venomous hatred.
His skin split open.
Disgusting insects burst out of his body.
Emiya glanced once-then looked away.
He valued his eyesight.
Medea raised her hand and snapped her fingers.
Pop.
The insects ignited mid-air.
Zouken panicked.
What kind of magecraft was this?
He couldn't comprehend it.
Another snap.
Zouken clutched his chest.
His body burned from the inside.
"S-spare me... I'll give you anything..."
Flames erupted from his ears.
Then his nose.
His mouth.
His body.
"Aaaaaaah-"
He burned like a torch.
Strangely, nothing else caught fire.
Soon, Zouken Matou was reduced to ashes.
But Emiya knew better.
Zouken wasn't dead yet.
Desperate to live, he had abandoned his body long ago.
His true self was a single worm.
Hidden in Sakura's heart.
Kill that worm.
Then Zouken would truly die.
They left the study.
Outside, CĂş Chulainn and Hassan were locked in fierce combat.
Down the hall, Artoria and Archer had already suppressed Medusa.
It was only a matter of time.
Rin had found Sakura.
When Emiya entered her room, the sisters were facing each other.
There was no warmth between them.
Rin saw Emiya and immediately asked,
"How did it go?"
Emiya nodded, then looked at Sakura's chest.
"Just one final step left."
He glanced between the sisters.
"But what's going on here?"
"I tried to take Sakura away," Rin said helplessly.
"She won't agree."
Emiya wasn't surprised.
"That's normal."
"Ten years ago, Tokiomi Tohsaka sent a crying, unwilling Sakura away."
"She became Sakura Matou."
"She suffered here."
"And now you want to take her back?"
"Who would agree to that?"
Sakura looked at Emiya in shock.
She stayed silent.
Rin snapped.
"Whose side are you on?"
"And Father did it for Sakura's sake!"
As a child, she hadn't understood.
Now she did.
Both sisters had exceptional aptitude.
Especially Sakura.
The Imaginary Element.
If she hadn't been adopted, the Clock Tower would have sealed her.
A rare specimen.
Preserved.
