The food came in waves — silver trays, porcelain plates, steam rising in curls that carried the scent of butter, spice, and roasted meat. It hit the air like temptation. And the moment it was all set on the table, even I had to admit it looked… excessive.
Every pair of eyes around us said the same thing — is she seriously going to eat all that?
My men tried to hide their expressions, but I caught every flicker of disbelief. One of them even looked at the plates, then at her, then back again — like his brain couldn't make sense of how a woman that small, that fragile-looking, could possibly finish a feast meant for four grown wolves.
And then, the moment Mara whispered, "Madam, the food is here," Odette actually squeaked.
A soft, startled little sound of excitement.
I blinked once, slow, caught completely off guard.
She was… happy.
Over food.
