The instant the golden light dome descended, Yu Tianxin's body trembled.
"Second soul skill, Fifteen Ton Thunder!"
Lightning burst outward in all directions, his figure immediately engulfed by the dome.
From afar, Yu Tianxin forcibly carved out a two-meter sphere of space within the golden sea of lightning, a small pocket wrapped in blue arcs.
"Yang Yunhai's fourth soul skill is a massive-area skill. Its overall intensity isn't excessively high, and Yu Tianxin's Martial Soul is also lightning attribute—he has some resistance. Otherwise…" Students from other academies clenched their fists in worry.
But in the next second, their pupils contracted.
"No wonder Yang Yunhai took so long to charge." They could only smile bitterly.
Before their eyes, the golden light dome kept expanding. In the blink of an eye, it stretched over a hundred meters.
Yang Yunhai's fourth soul skill covered the entire arena!
Yu Tianxin had nowhere to escape!
At the same time, within the golden dome, countless motes of golden light condensed around Yu Tianxin.
"Fourth soul skill, Blue Lightning Dragon Assault!" Veins bulged on Yu Tianxin's forehead as he used the last space he had to charge his fourth skill.
Zizizi!
The golden sparks around him grew dazzling, arcs flickering like countless thunderballs forming in midair.
"Haa!" Yu Tianxin roared, his fist punching out as a Blue Lightning Dragon surged forth. He stomped heavily and charged forward.
"Ahhh!" His dragon-transformed arms crackled with lightning, his claws tearing through the air.
"Too late!" Yang Yunhai's gaze sharpened. His right fist clenched, and within the dome, all the thunderballs activated at once, shooting outward together.
In an instant, Yu Tianxin's entire body was swallowed by golden lightning spheres, sealing him off completely.
On the stands, Thunderclap Academy's team all turned pale, their team leader leaping up. "We—"
Boom, Boom, Boom!
A series of explosions erupted inside the arena. Golden brilliance surged, dyeing everything in sight gold.
"This is… terrifying!" Other academy students shielded their eyes, peeking with the corners of their vision, their scalps tingling.
"To control so many thunderballs at once!" Huo Wu clenched her teeth. "He's far stronger than me…"
"…." The Shrek Academy students fell into silence. Tang San's expression instantly sank.
Moments later, the golden light dispersed, revealing the devastated battlefield.
"Did he die?" Students immediately turned their eyes to the arena.
Yu Tianxin lay curled on the ground, trembling. Golden arcs still crackled across his body, with scrapes along his thighs, arms, and face, and his hair was singed and curled. Within two meters around him lay scorched earth pitted with craters.
The Thunderclap Academy students breathed a sigh of relief—Yang Yunhai had held back.
But the fear lingered. If those thunderballs had all struck Yu Tianxin directly, none doubted his corpse would already be ashes.
The question now—how were they going to get him out?
Before they could act, a Blue Silver vine extended from beneath Yang Yunhai's feet, swiftly coiling around Yu Tianxin. It dragged him to the edge of the field and tossed him gently onto the ground.
"This one was drained even worse by Tang San," Yang Yunhai said blankly, turning to walk off the stage.
"Heaven Dou Royal Academy wins!" the referee declared loudly.
"So strong! And to think—he actually held back." Students across the stands couldn't help but sigh in admiration.
Had Yang Yunhai been even slightly ruthless, Yu Tianxin would have been crippled, if not dead, and the finals would be lost to him entirely.
Suddenly, the tournament's rule against crippling opponents felt more valuable than ever.
"Next…" Soon the lightning dispersed, and the host announced the following match.
Before long, the morning's battles ended, and the teams withdrew.
'If in the finals Yang Yunhai uses this skill right away… how could I possibly counter it?' Tang San pondered as he walked.
'Maybe with Oscar's flying sausage?'
"…." Perhaps thinking the same, his teammates—and even Yu Xiaogang—wore equally grim faces.
Time passed quickly. By afternoon, the teams returned to the grand arena.
"Who do you think will win the last match today, Godwind Academy or Shrek Academy?"
Even before the match began, discussion buzzed among the spectators.
The highlight was undoubtedly Shrek versus Godwind. Though Shrek's reputation wasn't pleasant, none could deny they were a top-tier team. Yu Tianheng of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Tang San the Clear Sky heir—both had been crushed by Yang Yunhai, but their strength remained undeniable.
As for Godwind Academy, their captain Feng Xiaotian had already shown his prowess in his earlier battle against Yang Yunhai.
All awaited this clash eagerly.
"Captain, what do you think?" Yu Feng asked from the Heaven Dou Royal Academy's stand.
"Godwind Academy," Yang Yunhai replied with a smile.
"I agree." Yu Feng nodded quickly. "Their whole team can fly—that's a huge advantage. Not to mention, Tai Long of Shrek is still injured, one powerhouse down."
'And meridians aren't so easily healed,' Yang Yunhai nodded faintly.
He glanced toward Huo Wu, his expression thoughtful.
'The enemy of my enemy is a friend. And I've no grudge with Blazing Academy—or with her.'
His thoughts settled as the match began, his attention returning to the field.
Time slipped away until the host's voice echoed once more.
"Advancement Tournament, Round 15, Match 8—Godwind Academy versus Shrek Academy! Contestants, please enter!"
Tang San rose from his seat.
Across the way, Feng Xiaotian stood as well.
Yang Yunhai's brow lifted slightly.
Truthfully, this year's tournament had already strayed far from the original story because of his presence. Many academies had adapted, developing new tactics specifically to deal with him. Godwind Academy was no exception. They had long since learned to rely on aerial superiority and ranged tactics. Direct close-quarters clashes were now rare.
Thus, Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer might not prove effective against Feng Xiaotian.
"Perfect," Feng Xiaotian thought as he strode forward.
He remembered Tang San's previous fight against Yang Yunhai. That Martial Soul had absorbed soul power, vines with barbed projectiles that struck faster and harder than expected. If he let his teammates go first, Tang San might pick them off one by one, drain their soul power, and sustain a drawn-out battle.
That would be disastrous. If he saved himself for last, he risked being worn down in a war of attrition.
Looking at Shrek's lineup, the only real threats to Godwind were Ma Hongjun with his flight, Xiao Wu with teleportation, and Tang San with his strange projectiles. The others couldn't match their speed and would only get dragged into attrition.
So he reasoned Shrek would probably repeat their tactic from against Blazing Academy—sending Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ma Hongjun first to seize the advantage.
Thus, Feng Xiaotian decided he would go first. If he could take down those three, his team's victory would be nearly secured.
"Feng Xiaotian going first—very well!" On the other side, Tang San's eyes gleamed.
His reasoning was simple: eliminate as many as possible, perhaps even attempt his own 1 vs 7. That way, Xiao Wu wouldn't face danger later.
With determination, he strode onto the stage.
