"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 249: Chief God Odin!
There are some kinds of pain that make you wince just by watching. Draconis Yi's last strike nearly sent Diodora into blissful unconsciousness—his eyes rolled back, his face frozen in a mask of agony, the pain radiating right up to his skull and leaving him dazed for ages.
Right then, a crowd of figures rushed toward Diodora—all women, all devils, unmistakably his peerage.
"Master!" they cried, horror-stricken. Draconis Yi had beaten Diodora so badly that, if not for his torn-up clothes, even his own peerage might not have recognized him.
They tried to rush to his rescue, but Draconis Yi wasn't about to let that happen. With a flick of magic, he had Diodora bound and captured in an instant.
He would've liked to finish Diodora off right there, but the guy was still Maou blood. If Draconis Yi were alone, he'd have ended him without a second thought. But with Rias and the others here, he had to play it smart—for her sake.
Meanwhile, Rias and her team were still locked in battle with the Old Satan faction's devils. Seeing Draconis Yi drag Diodora in, battered but alive, Rias's face broke into a triumphant grin.
"Nice work! Now let's wipe out the rest of these pests!"
Draconis Yi hefted Diodora like a sack of garbage, grinning. "On it."
He turned to Diodora's peerage, flashing a polite smile. "Your master's been captured. You can try to fight your way out or just surrender—your call."
With that, he hauled Diodora back to Rias's side. A casual sword swipe sent three charging devils up in a burst of light, scattering their remains to the wind.
"Keep an eye on him. I'll handle the rest."
Noticing everyone's magic reserves running low, Draconis Yi decided to take on the heavy lifting. He raised the Regalia Blade, channeling holy demonic power into its core until the sword blazed with radiant light.
The remaining devils, unable to sense any magical pressure, charged ahead—utterly clueless.
Rias and the others exchanged glances. These fools really didn't know when to quit.
Draconis Yi lifted his Sacred Gear high, stepped forward, and brought the blade down in a single, devastating arc.
A spiraling wave of light erupted, carving through the battlefield. The entire fan-shaped region ahead was swallowed by annihilation—destructive magic tearing through everything in its path. Hundreds of devils vanished in an instant, leaving the Old Satan faction decimated.
"Well now, looks like you've already cleaned house. Who are you, kid, to pack that kind of punch?"
An elderly voice echoed through the ruins. A figure appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.
"Who's there?" Draconis Yi turned, eyes narrowing.
An old man stood before him—white-haired, wild-bearded, and more than a little scruffy. But the divine power radiating from him was unmistakable.
"Odin!? What are you doing here?" Rias gasped, eyes wide.
"Haha! I'm Odin, Chief God of the Norse pantheon. I was invited to help subdue these Old Satan rebels, but it seems you've handled things just fine without me."
Odin's eyes twinkled as he appraised Rias and Akeno, his expression a little too appreciative. "Ah, the Gremory girls—beautiful and fair, just as rumored."
Draconis Yi caught the look and promptly stepped between Odin and the girls, rolling his eyes.
"There are still a few stragglers left. If you're bored, feel free to mop up. Wouldn't want you to have made this trip for nothing."
He spoke easily—Odin radiated no hostility, so he kept things friendly.
"Yare yare, you must be that reincarnated devil, Draconis Yi. Kids these days, no respect for their elders. My old bones don't have your stamina—how am I supposed to finish off all these devils?"
"You're too modest. I'm sure you could go toe-to-toe with a Maou if you wanted."
Draconis Yi's flattery landed perfectly, leaving Odin momentarily flustered.
"Heh, you've got a silver tongue, boy. Fine, I'll handle the leftovers."
Odin clapped his hands. A long spear materialized out of thin air.
With a gleeful shout, he unleashed his divine power—an overwhelming wave swept across the battlefield, reducing dozens of High-class devils to ash in a single blow. The last remnants of the Old Satan faction were gone.
Draconis Yi barely blinked at the display. "So, old man, how's it looking outside?"
Odin shrugged. "Khaos Brigade attacked the arena, so the tournament was called off. Azazel asked me to deliver these—can you believe he's got me running errands at my age?"
He tossed a handful of magical communicators to Draconis Yi and the others, grumbling all the while. Odin really was a master complainer—and a legendary pervert, to boot.
Draconis Yi and his team put on the communicators. Azazel's voice crackled through.
"Hey, you got the devices? Hang tight, we're just finishing up over here."
Draconis Yi caught on immediately. "You guys wrapped up fast. Did you get a heads-up?"
Logically, the Khaos Brigade's attack should've been targeted, but Azazel's crew had finished even quicker than Draconis Yi's group. Something didn't add up.
Especially since Draconis Yi's enemies hadn't known his true strength—he'd steamrolled them.
Azazel laughed. "Yeah, we got tipped off. So we played along, waited for them to show."
"…So we were bait," Rias said, her voice tight with annoyance.
Turns out the Maou and their allies had known about Diodora's betrayal all along—and used Rias's team as bait.
"There've been a lot of attacks on young devils lately—all the work of the Khaos Brigade's Old Satan faction, operating in the shadows. The 'accidental' death of the Glasya-Labolas heir? That was their doing."
As for Zephyrdor, he'd only ended up as heir because they couldn't find anyone better. Otherwise, what thug like him would ever qualify?
The ruling Maou weren't just sitting on their hands—they were quietly scheming behind the scenes.
Which suited Draconis Yi just fine. With the big shots handling the mess, he could live comfortably. Any stragglers who slipped past the Maou's net wouldn't pose a threat to him.
"Diodora's captured, his peerage surrendered. Can we go home now?" Rias asked, her patience wearing thin.
"Of course! Head back with Old Man Odin," Azazel replied, chuckling.
