*~Lucien's POV~*
New Orleans was massive and exactly as Shirley had described it: Powerful, elegant and rich.
Our carriage came to a halt right before the towering gates of the Blue crescent Pack. The gold-edged bars glowed under the light. We stepped down—me, Shirley, Damien, and a few of our pack wolves who had come for protection.
As soon as we approached, two guards blocked our path.
"I'm sorry," one of them said, his tone sharp and official. "Who are you people?"
I stepped forward politely. "We're werewolves from the Riverdale pack. We're here to see your Alpha. Can you please let us through?"
The guard blinked—and then laughed. His comrades joined in.
"Does our Alphas know you're coming to see them?" he asked mockingly.
"Uh…" I rubbed the back of my neck. "I suppose not."
"Well then, I'm sorry, but you're not going anywhere."
Before I could reply, Damien's voice cut through the air, low but intimidating.
"Wait a damn minute."
