I couldn't even wait to reach the High House before finding out what was in the book. I just sat right there on the floor and started flipping through the pages.
The first thing I saw was a list — the names of every White Wolf that ever existed. My eyes moved to the last one, and there it was. My name.
So this book knows about me… and I don't even know anything about it.
A bitter laugh slipped from my lips as I turned the page.
The first passage said exactly what Mother had told me, that every White Wolf gives birth only to daughters. That the power of the Moon Goddess is always carried by the female line.
So… no mini Gorgeous Monster for me, then. I pushed the thought away and kept reading.
Then, something caught my eye.
Pills.
My breath hitched. I flipped faster, scanning line after line until I found it.
