Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: A Disciple's Vow

After leaving Flender's room, Yu Xiaogang quickly walked back to his own. Tang San was still lying in bed. A glance at the clock told him it was almost time to change Tang San's dressing again.

Right now, Tang San was basically a cripple. The injury was in his lower body, so the surgery had really affected his ability to move. Even though his upper body was fine, he had to stay in bed. Yu Xiaogang could bring him food, but if Tang San needed the toilet, he needed Yu Xiaogang's help.

This was truly disgusting for Yu Xiaogang. As a result, he hadn't eaten all day. He'd almost thrown up everything he ate yesterday.

Creak...

Yu Xiaogang reluctantly pushed the door open. The run-down room he shared with Tang San was barely livable, even after a quick tidying. He had wanted to buy some new daily necessities, but now he was penniless. He couldn't even think about that. He'd even had to beg Flender for Tang San's surgery fee.

Yu Xiaogang's only goal now was to get the surgery money. After that, he would just stay at Shrek Academy and freeload. He knew this would make Flender dislike him even more, but Yu Xiaogang didn't care anymore. Once his and Tang San's gold coin subsidy from Spirit Hall arrived next month, things would be much better.

"Teacher, you're back."

When Tang San saw him, he struggled, actually trying to get out of bed. This stunned Yu Xiaogang. This kid was almost at death's door but still wanted to get up and greet him. For a moment, Yu Xiaogang felt strangely moved.

He really hadn't misjudged him. He had to admit Tang San's talent seemed a bit mediocre, but his disciple's character was still good. It was comparable to his own. As expected of my disciple!

Besides, Tang San only seemed mediocre because he was at Shrek. In any other advanced Spirit Master academy, he'd be one of the best. And Tang San's real talent hadn't even been revealed. Yu Xiaogang never cared about the Blue Silver Grass. That was just an experiment to prove some of his theories. Tang San's truly powerful aspect was his second spirit—the Clear Sky Hammer!

At the thought of the Clear Sky Hammer, Yu Xiaogang shivered. If Tang San's father, Tang Hao, found out his son was missing a testicle... he would be in deep trouble. Luckily, one was still left. If both were gone, Tang Hao would probably hammer him to death.

But he couldn't keep this a secret. Yu Xiaogang decided that if he ever met Tang Hao again, he would confess immediately. However, he would make sure the responsibility wasn't blamed on him. The real reason for the injury was the Great Spirit Arena. Even if Tang Hao knew what happened, it couldn't be attributed to him.

Thinking of this, Yu Xiaogang stepped forward and helped Tang San lie back down.

"Little San, your job right now is to rest and recover. Don't worry about the surgery fee. Just leave it all to your teacher!" Yu Xiaogang held Tang San's hand and said this earnestly.

"Teacher, thank you!" Tang San was clearly moved. "If it weren't for you, I really wouldn't know what to do."

His mood was terrible. His condition had made him terrified. After all, the surgery wasn't on some ordinary place. If something went wrong... his happiness for the rest of his life would be completely gone.

Tang San had never even touched a girl's hand. But was it because he didn't want to? No, it was because he never had the chance! Every time he saw Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing surrounding Huo Feng, he felt so envious. But he always pretended to be indifferent, acting like he wasn't interested in women at all.

But in reality, he was frustrated. He had even thought about going out with Dai Mubai and the others for "fun." But his relationship with Dai Mubai was terrible, so he could never ask. He could only... resolve things himself in private, terrified that someone would discover him.

And now, this misfortune had happened. He remembered the person who injured him: the captain of the Royal Fight Team, Yu Tianheng! It was that kid who had almost ended his life as a man before it even began. In the future, when he was strong enough, Tang San would definitely go and deal with him.

Yu Xiaogang put one hand behind his back, a slight smile on his face. "Little San, you don't have to say that. I understand everything between us."

Hearing this, Tang San felt completely overwhelmed. His eyes turned red, and tears welled up. "Teacher, I have no way to repay you right now... I can only…"

Yu Xiaogang froze.

What is he trying to do? he thought. What does he mean, 'no way to repay'? Only... what? What are you trying to say, kid!

The doctor said only one was injured, right? That means he's still half a man. He shouldn't be saying things like this! Even if Tang San was lacking, Yu Xiaogang—though old—still thought about women. He had no interest in men at all!

This kid has a problem with his thinking, Yu Xiaogang thought. As his master, I have to correct him. This is absolutely not allowed!

Yu Xiaogang was about to open his mouth to scold Tang San. But Tang San's next sentence made him swallow his words.

"I can only honor you later, Master!"

"Uh... Ah, so that's it!" Yu Xiaogang quickly recovered. "Little San, I understand your intentions, but your main job now is to rest. You have to get enough rest and recover so you can have the next surgery! Teacher still has many invincible theories to teach you. I believe you'll be interested in them. And I believe in your talent!"

Yu Xiaogang's encouraging words made Tang San feel good.

However, the urgent matter at hand was changing his dressing.
