Chapter 58 - The Inevitable Conflict, Pushing the Mutant Registration Act

The West has been touting its so-called fairness for hundreds of years, which, of course, is also how long they've been civilized.

But what happens when that balance is broken one day?

You and your friend George are ordinary people, just like any other kids growing up.

But today, you suddenly realize that your friend George is different. He's become incredibly confident, even to the point where he's stopped playing the virtual reality games you both loved.

After repeated questioning, he reveals that he's awakened the superpower of passing through walls. Meanwhile, you remain utterly unremarkable, only excelling in the virtual game world...

You watch George leave, your expression unreadable. Once you're out of the game, you're just a normal, mediocre loser.

A sin called jealousy slowly begins to grow in your heart.

Looking at the confident and energetic George, you even feel a strong desire for destruction.

...

The council and the White House weren't fools. They saw the undercurrents beneath the peace, and they hadn't anticipated the Mutants' strength would grow to such a degree.

They were all terrified by the current massive numbers of Mutants. This power was enough to overturn everything.

If it weren't for that screenwriter's efforts, they still wouldn't know that the Mutants' hidden strength was so formidable.

And they had to sit down again. Someone brought up the shelved Mutant Registration Act because no one would tolerate a threat to their position.

"Everyone, I want to know your thoughts."

In the smoke-filled meeting room, everyone was silent, considering their own agendas. Only Senator Kelly knocked on the conference table and spoke in a low voice.

He'd been jumping around lately; the old foxes present weren't blind and naturally knew his target… that position…

Several senators looked at each other without saying anything, because everyone had their own agenda, and even secretly funded countless Mutant teams to do things for them.

They naturally loved and feared the various superpowers of Mutants, and they were reluctant to give up such a sharp knife.

Seeing that no one spoke, Senator Kelly sneered and continued, "I know your concerns, but I can guarantee that Mutants will behave, and it's all up to us who registers and who doesn't, isn't it?"

Senator Kelly's words were almost a blunt statement, we all know your little tricks, and we understand your concerns.

At this moment, a middle-aged bald man looked at him curiously, "Does Senator Kelly have any trump cards? Mutants won't obediently comply with this so-called Registration Act."

The others also looked at him in unison, because they had been afraid to escalate the Mutants' resistance, and no one wanted to die without knowing how.

"Haha, I have contacted Iron Man, Tony Stark, and the person who attacked Tony Stark last time."

"With my mediation, they have shaken hands and made peace to jointly develop Iron Armor. Now, as long as there is a Mutant gene, Iron Man can detect it."

"Heh, as long as we detect the mutant gene, we'll have countless ways to make them behave."

Senator Kelly confidently assured, having promised Tony a series of benefits. Tony had found a new element in the city model left by his father, Howard!

Tony's confidence was incredibly inflated at the moment. He hadn't yet experienced the alien army invasion, so he wasn't worried at all.

He only felt that he had been reborn, and he should accomplish a great feat to be worthy of his rebirth. He regarded his father Howard's last wish as the most important thing in his life.

As for Ivan Vanko, was it really him, Kelly, who had convinced him?

It was just that Ivan Vanko had secretly agreed to cooperate with Tony and Kelly, under the direction of Chen Xi.

"But have you thought about it? What if we encounter someone as powerful as Magneto? Are you sure Iron Man can handle it?"

An old man with white hair suddenly asked in a low voice.

"Mr. Mordus, you know about Magneto, but how many Magnetos have you actually seen?"

Senator Kelly calmly answered the question.

"Most Mutants have strange, even useless abilities. Powerful Mutants are as rare as pandas. If there were a Mutant as strong as Magneto, do you think they would escape our notice? The strong don't stay idle."

The others present seemed to agree. As long as their Mutants weren't touched, they were fine with it.

So, the old foxes in attendance almost unanimously agreed to revive the Mutant Registration Act, starting with a public opinion poll!

Meanwhile, those Mutants with decent abilities were enjoying themselves, unaware that a conspiracy was already brewing.

Chen Xi looked at Wanda and Gwen, who were like playful kittens, and couldn't help but smile tenderly.

He hadn't expected his wicked plan to succeed so quickly.

A man really needs some swagger, and of course, two rock-solid kidneys. Otherwise, you'll just be scorned and disliked.

Looking at Wanda, who had turned her back, Chen Xi's lips curled into a mischievous smile.

"Wanda, today your husband will give you a lesson. Never turn your back on your enemy, okay?"

Chen Xi whispered in Wanda's ear. Wanda, still half-asleep, didn't understand what he was saying, just mumbled, "Ugh, I'm so tired, and you... you beast!"

The next second, a feeling of fullness washed over her. Wanda instantly sobered up and pushed back at Chen Xi, she was already stuffed.

Unfortunately, her strength was futile. A few minutes later, she was completely limp, a puddle of mush.

By the time the sun was high in the sky, Chen Xi, having left the two of them to rest, was already in the yard, leisurely sunbathing.

After checking his attributes, he was thrilled to see his explosive power.

"Sigh, women really do slow down my sword-drawing speed!"

This guy was taking advantage and still acting like a spoiled brat. It was annoying to hear. He indulged in pleasure, and going to the space to soak up the sun at night had become sporadic.

Just as he was squinting in the sun, Jean Grey, whom he hadn't seen for a while, suddenly arrived. She brought bad news with a serious expression.

"The Mutant Registration Act has been brought up again. The public opinion polls are overwhelmingly against us; it's terrible."
