Everyone held their breaths as they saw the shadow lunge at the awakened. But he was no weakling. Immediately, he drew out a bronze shield and parried the attack.
The shadow flew back, surprised. Only when it stepped back did they finally see it white-skinned, with bulging muscles and standing on two feet. Its long fingers were like sabers that could tear someone open with a single swipe.
"Hmm, a humanoid beast," someone said.
Immediately, the group engaged it in battle. But their synergy was not in sync. Thankfully, the humanoid beast didn't have any ability but it was smart.
Seeing that it was cornered by fifteen awakened
Boom!
It leapt high into the air, reaching the fifth floor of a tall building. Looking at each other, they chose to chase it. When Freddy and Gloria wanted to follow, Ethan called them back.
"Listen, that beast is smart. Obviously, it's trying to lure them to its group," Ethan said.
"Yh, we can't take any chances with a humanoid beast," Lynx said.
"Even though, let's go behind them. What if something bad happens?" Gloria asked.
Ethan kept quiet for a while to think. Even if things went out of hand, he could still handle it with ease. It's just that he was someone who couldn't use his strength anyhow he needed to keep a low profile.
Looking at the drones, Ethan finally said, "Fine, but we need to get the hang of our aspects. Let everyone reveal their aspects."
Everyone turned to look at him.
"Well, my aspect is Strength," Ethan said. This was the aspect he could come up with Strength Aspect was very common among awakened warriors, so nobody was going to suspect a thing.
"I am a fire user," Gloria said.
"I'm a shadow user," Freddy said.
"Well, this is a bit complicated, but I guess I'm a beast tamer," Lynx said.
"What, you're not sure?" Freddy asked.
"At least I can talk to and control low-level beasts," Lynx replied.
"I don't doubt you. If we spot a beast, I'll like you to tame one," Ethan smiled, placing his hand on Lynx's shoulder.
"Then it's done. Let's move," Gloria said.
Slowly, the group tailed the others pursuing the humanoid beast.
[Death Blade: A weapon forged from the body and soul of the deathly being. Anytime it is drawn, it must taste blood before it's sheathed.

"I haven't tried this innate skill ever since I acquired this blade. I guess it can be one of my trump cards," Ethan thought.

An explosion rang out, and the group abruptly came to a halt. Ethan immediately used his [Third Eye].
"Oh no, the group has been scattered. Something is wrong," Ethan said.
"No, we can't leave they're in danger," Gloria said.
"We can't take any chances, not until we know the level of these beasts," Lynx said. "And you know humanoid beasts are more intelligent than normal beasts."
"You guys can stay here. I'm going to check it out," Ethan said.
"I'm following you," Freddy said.
Ethan looked at him and immediately understood. Gloria and Lynx looked at him too.
"Fine, we move," Ethan said.
Ethan was planning to go alone so he could test his full power. But seeing his teammates, he knew he couldn't leave them behind. He had to carry them all along. Leaving them behind meant he didn't believe in their strength indirectly telling them they were weak.
Tadadadadada
The group sped up as they burst into a skyscraper possibly a mall. Ethan wondered how the military got this kind of building in place.
"I smell something bad in the air. You guys should be careful," Lynx said.
They all nodded.
"Well, I'm about to activate my aspect," Ethan said as he jumped high from the first floor to the second. The others quickly followed.
Boom! "Arggghhh!"
A humanoid beast burst through a wall with a female awakened in its grasp. Her arm was already ripped out, and her face was covered in blood and horror.
Boom! Boom!
Gloria immediately threw fireballs at it, forcing the humanoid beast to drop the girl. Ethan instantly rushed forward with speed and punched the beast in its chest shattering its insides.
Boom!
It flew out of the building and crashed to the ground, turning into mangled flesh and bone. Blood splattered within a meter of its surroundings.
Ethan rushed to the female. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"Grrr…" she lost her tone.
"We need to find the nearest healer. I'm afraid her ribs in the heart region have been shattered she won't last long," Ethan said. Gloria and Lynx rushed forward while Freddy just stood frozen.
Ethan carefully laid the girl flat to avoid the shattered ribs from piercing further. Looking at Freddy, Ethan understood.
"Freddy, watch out!" Ethan shouted.
But it was too late a fist landed squarely on Freddy's jaw, sending him five meters away.
Ethan burst forward with speed.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Ethan used First Dragon Subduing Palm.
BOOM!
Ethan's punch shattered the beast's head like a watermelon. Rushing toward Freddy, Ethan grabbed him just before another humanoid beast crushed him.
BOOM!
Ethan jumped out of the building. "Get out immediately we're surrounded!" he shouted midair.
BOOM!
An explosion sounded from the floor they were just in. Gloria threw more fireballs at the beasts.
"What about the girl?" Gloria said, panicking.
"Don't worry, I got this," Lynx said as he performed a finger gesture. A large black python appeared, carrying the girl.
Immediately, they rushed out of the building too. Ethan laid Freddy who was half-conscious behind a huge rubble.
"We haven't even started fully, and we're already losing people. This trial is no joke," Ethan said.
Most of the beasts he was seeing so far were of the humanoid type. They were smart just now, after one took down Freddy, another came in to finish the job.
Ethan immediately brought out a health potion and fed it to Freddy. Gradually, his pale face began to regain color.
Ethan could see Lynx lunging into another building with his giant python, with numerous humanoid beasts about ten chasing behind them.
