Chapter 148 - Chapter 148: He Is a Pirate

"So, when others are crazy, it's the time to make money. The bank's over nine thousand futures orders were sold out in less than a day. Everything was so simple, as if God had arranged it," William said with a chuckle.

Oprah covered her mouth with her hand, her face full of anticipation, and said, "God, I still can't believe it's as simple as you say. Why doesn't such an opportunity come to me? I'd be content with just one."

The audience nodded in agreement, their faces showing approval. Everyone was an ordinary person, and ninety-nine percent of people would be satisfied if they truly had tens of millions of dollars in wealth. Unfortunately, in reality, the probability of such a thing is as low as winning the lottery.

"Alright, guys, time is running out. We'll leave the stage to William. He will perform a violin piece of his own composition for us. Let's welcome William Devonshire to perform 'He's a Pirate' for us!"

Yes, William had plagiarized the theme song from that pirate movie. He decided to play this piece yesterday after learning who his next two guests would be.

In his previous life, he was more than familiar with this piece. To play it, he even specially enrolled in violin classes, but due to limited talent, he could only say he had learned it after a few months.

In this life, his body, transformed by the system, made him feel like he had been reborn. Although the live band only received the music yesterday and their coordination was not yet perfect, it still sounded great to the unprofessional audience.

William knew his performance was definitely not as good as the original, but "He's a Pirate" was appearing for the first time in this world. A classic is a classic, and William knew the effect was excellent from the audience's expressions after listening.

The audience and Oprah all looked at William in surprise. This violin piece, which they had never heard before, was indeed excellent. It was stirring, grand, and made people's blood boil, as if they were truly sailing a pirate ship on the vast ocean.

After William finished playing, everyone stood up excitedly and applauded vigorously. Even Russell, the star of Gladiator, and director Ridley, who were the guests after William, walked out of the guest room and applauded William with excited expressions.

When the audience saw Russell and director Ridley applauding, the applause grew even louder, mixed with whistles and screams.

Oprah looked at Russell and Ridley helplessly. After several minutes, everyone finally calmed down. "Alright, alright, Ridley, that's enough. Don't keep pestering William. Your movie has already been released. There'll be plenty of time if you want the song."

Ridley shook his head and said, "No, I think if I let William go today, this song will have nothing to do with me tomorrow. God, this is truly the best song I've heard in years. I think I have some inspiration. William, can I invite you to my house as a guest? You can bring your little girlfriend with you, and I can even help your little girlfriend audition for some film crews."

Ambrosio, sitting in the front row of the audience, was so excited by Ridley's words that she almost screamed. She quickly covered her mouth with her hand, her face flushed, and looked at William with eager anticipation.

William looked at Ridley, the old man, with a gloomy expression. He really knew how to set conditions. William looked at Ambrosio's expectant face and could only nod. "Alright, it's my honor. Although this song is the theme song for a script in my mind, who can blame you? You're Ridley, one of Hollywood's best directors. If you like it, I'll give it to you."

Oprah immediately caught the main point after hearing William's words and asked, "Oh, William, you said this song was written for a script in your mind? Can you tell us about it? Audience friends, do you want to hear it?"

"Of course!" the audience members agreed repeatedly.

William looked at Oprah and asked uncertainly, "It's Mr. Russell and Mr. Ridley's time next, isn't it? Is it okay for me to take up their time like this?"

Oprah quickly said, "It's fine, William. I can do a special interview for Russell and Ridley. Besides, 'Gladiator' has been out for over a month, and they both came once before. They won't mind, will they, Russell, Ridley?"

Ridley nodded and said, "Exactly. I don't care about 'Gladiator' at all anymore. It's almost out of cinemas, so there's nothing to talk about. As for Russell, he's a powerful actor; he won't care about these things."

Seeing Russell also nod, William said, "Alright, I'll tell you the story in my head. It's a 16th-century pirate story, the story of Captain Jack Sparrow."

Amidst everyone's anticipation, William slowly recounted the pirate movie in his mind, focusing on the acting requirements for the captain's role and the special effects. William was a good speaker, and as he spoke, when he described the scene where the pirates walked from the seabed towards the Black Pearl and turned into skeletons under the moonlight,

many people were startled by William. Just imagining the scene William described made them feel that this pirate-themed movie might truly be worth watching.

After William finished his story, Ridley immediately said to William, "William, I think the most important thing you should do right now is to go to the copyright office and apply for the copyright of this story. I even think the movie can be shot exactly as you described it. As long as the special effects are as good as you said, this movie will definitely be fantastic."

Oprah quickly asked, "What about the box office, Ridley? You didn't mention the box office."

Ridley rolled his eyes and said, "That's God's business. I only know that William's story is very good, but as for how popular it will be, I really don't know. However, if the cost doesn't exceed 100 million USD and we find good actors, the probability of this movie losing money shouldn't be high. And William, you wouldn't care about a loss of tens of millions, would you?"

William covered his forehead with his hand and said helplessly, "Of course I care, Ridley! You know, half a year ago, I was a pauper who didn't even have a few hundred pounds. God, tens of millions of dollars, and you say I wouldn't care? I think with that 100 million dollars, I'd rather build a factory to make my P3. At least I'm very confident in the P3; it will make me money."

The audience burst into laughter at William's stinginess, thinking that William was absolutely right. Who wouldn't care about a loss of tens of millions of dollars? William wasn't some oil-rich prince.

Ridley shook his head and said helplessly, "Alright, it seems capitalists, young or old, are all the same. They only care about profit, not art. William, you truly live up to your reputation as someone who can earn billions. Even with so much money, you're still thinking about how to make big money."

Haha, everyone laughed at what Ridley said. They didn't believe that Ridley, who had been in Hollywood for decades, truly didn't care about money as he appeared to.

There are very few people in America who don't care about money; only rich people constantly tell others not to care too much about money, donating their assets to foundations for tax avoidance and publicly proclaiming it's for charity.
