Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: If Once Isn't Enough, Try Twice

Barney was silent for a moment before asking, "Hey, Boss, do you have any more work for us in the future?"

"In the future?" Hearing this, William was puzzled. These guys had earned a lot of money from William in the past three months. William had increased their mercenary fees at the end of March, after the stock market started to fall.

Because William had been hiding in the Swiss National Bank building and not coming out, he was afraid that if those who wanted to cause him trouble couldn't find an opportunity to act against him, they would turn to kidnapping his mother, Lena, to threaten him.

He even specifically sent Barney and the others a large batch of weapons, ammunition, and equipment, increasing their mercenary fees to 3 million US dollars per month. If they resolved any emergencies safely, he would give them extra money. After three months, each of these guys received more than 1.5 million in dividends, and this was without having to fight for their lives.

William asked curiously, "Barney, have you run into some trouble and need money?"

Barney stammered for a long time before saying, "Boss, I want to get a bigger house. You wouldn't believe it, raising daughters is really expensive. I truly understand now what Yin Yang meant when he said he was fighting for his daughters."

William was speechless. "Ha, just because of that?"

Christmas, who was driving, said in a strange voice, "Boss, you don't know Barney. He earns a little money and buys the best of everything for his daughters. Private schools, chauffeur service, private acting teachers, even an ice cream costs 40 dollars. God, it makes me not even dare to have children. It's too much trouble."

William had never been a father in either of his lives, so he couldn't offer any advice on this matter. Thinking that there really wasn't much going on lately, and the troublesome General Jett Froby was now struggling to survive, he said,

"Barney, you'd better go back to America and rest for a while. I'll contact you if there's a mission."

After saying that, he thought to himself that that damn General Jett Froby was still a threat. Since he had money, he would find someone to deal with him. He picked up the phone and called Tool, a former member of The Expendables and now a mission contact.

After the call connected, "Hello, Tool, I'm William Devlin. Do you know Jett Froby of Albania?"

"Hello, Mr. Devlin. I know Jett Froby. Not many people in the mercenary world don't know him right now. Albania has been fighting fiercely lately. I heard he's been desperately hiring mercenaries. He'll take anyone willing to fight for him. Many mercenary groups are making a living in Albania."

"It's best that you know. I have a mission for you. 5 million US dollars to cause trouble for General Jett Froby. It's best to secretly send some explosives to his subordinates when General Jett Froby and the government forces start fighting, and then send some bullets to General Jett Froby and his army officers, sending them directly to meet God. This mission is confidential. Don't let anyone know I issued it. It's best if you don't show up either, as many people now know about our relationship."

"Hold on," a series of keyboard clicks sounded from the phone, followed by Tool's unique low voice, "Hehe, no problem. I know many good hands. If it's just working secretly without charging into battle, 5 million is no problem. I can't guarantee that I can definitely send General Jett Froby to meet God, but sending some of his officers to meet God is no problem, Boss."

"If once isn't enough, then twice, thrice. If 5 million isn't enough, then add another 5 million US dollars. If we can't kill him, then first defeat his troops. Without subordinates, he's a dead fish. Waiting for your good news, Tool," William said casually. He now had billions of dollars in Switzerland, so 10 million was not something he cared about.

"Then there's no problem at all, Boss. Wait for my good news."

"Okay, bye-bye." William hung up the phone, thought for a moment, and then picked up the phone again to call Garret Mallory, the chairman of the National Security Council.

"Hello, Garret, I heard you guys want to cause trouble for General Jett Froby of Albania. I also happen to want to pay him a visit. Do you want me to help you handle it?" William said into the phone.

"No need, I can handle it myself. You don't need to worry about this, William. Now that you're back in England, don't you need to report to me in London about what happened in Montenegro? You know, I blocked a lot of people who wanted to cause you trouble because of this," Garret Mallory complained.

"Ha, Garret, you must already know all the processes and reasons. What do I need to report? It's a waste of time. Why do people always look for trouble? Isn't it better to live in peace? If you piss me off, I'll do what I did in Montenegro to those guys again," William said fiercely.

"Idiot, England is not Montenegro, which only has a population of 600,000. Don't mess around. Things haven't reached that point yet. No matter how powerful you are, you can't defeat the encirclement of a company of special forces. Behave yourself, don't turn a small matter into a big one," Garret Mallory warned.

"Garret, I also want to behave, but if someone targets me and I don't fight back, then any Tom, Dick, or Harry will dare to cause me trouble in the future. What I did in Montenegro was to warn certain people not to provoke me.

Don't think that just because the Devlin family only has me and the dying Earl, we're easy pickings. If you want to take a bite out of us, be prepared to choke to death." Damn, he didn't expect someone to want to cause him trouble as soon as he returned. It seems some people still haven't realized that the Devlin family is no longer the impoverished family it once was.

"God, why have you become so crazy now? Forget it, you'd better stay in Oxford for a while longer. Many people in the Treasury in London are still upset about you winning 10 million US dollars from Bond in Montenegro. Bond was protected by his wife, so these guys want to cause you trouble.

They can't do it openly, so beware of hidden dangers. Be careful, William, don't let anyone catch you with a handle. You know our current situation, and the Earl of Oxford is already in very poor health. It's best for you to keep a low profile now. Everything can be discussed after you inherit the title. I can still cover for you here," Garret reminded him earnestly.

William wondered if he had become a bit arrogant. After making a huge sum of money, his mindset had changed, and he was acting somewhat recklessly, thinking that with money and superpowers, he didn't need to care about the power of the government. Even if he was truly invincible, what then? He couldn't wantonly destroy the existing order.

"Alright, as long as no one wants to kill me, I'll keep a low profile. I'll just be a farmer in Oxford and look for treasure. Garret, come find me in Oxford when you have time; I'll take you hunting," William said.

"Okay, I'm still very interested in hunting. William, you should also cultivate some aristocratic hobbies, so people don't immediately think you're a country bumpkin," Garret teased.

"Go to hell, Garret. So what if I'm a country bumpkin? I'll live however I want. I don't care what others think," William's expression darkened as he said this. "Don't think I don't know. Even if I inherit the Earl's title, those guys will still see me as a nouveau riche. That's for the best,

Anyway, I don't want to deal with those guys."

"Alright, how you want to live is your freedom. Some of us have indeed acted too disgracefully. I don't want to bother with them anymore. Let them make a fuss. When Downing Street catches them, they'll be severely taught a lesson and they'll know what regret is," Garret said, annoyed.

Hearing Garret get angry, William's mood suddenly brightened. Why else would that saying go like this: one's happiness is built on the suffering of others?

William laughed heartily and said, "I don't care about them. The worst that can happen is not inheriting the title. I don't really care about that nominal thing. The family castle has already been bought back by me, and I don't really care for anything else.

The Oxford Earl's inheritance is only 12 million pounds, and most of it is land and other real estate. It's good if it's worth 8 million now. What's there to covet? If someone wants it, they can have it. If I want land, I'll buy it myself."

"Hehe, William, don't laugh. Do you think no one knows about what you did in Switzerland?"
