Chapter Thirty-Seven: When Ice Turned to Flesh
At that moment—before I could transport Bing Hua into the Spiral Tower,Aislin descended beside me, folding her shimmering wings with trembling grace, tears falling from her eyes like tiny crystals of melting frost.
Those tears froze before touching the ground, scattering around us in faint blue light,as though the heavens themselves were weeping ice instead of rain.
I had never expected such a sight.
Even my frozen heart, unmoved by storms or battle, quivered for an instant as I watched her cry in that way.
Her voice broke through the cold air, hoarse and trembling, carried by winds that seemed to echo from the depths of the glacial mountains:
"Eison! Why?!
Why did you try to take your own life?
Have you lost your mind?!
You frightened me… I thought I'd lost you forever!
Did you truly wish to die? Why?!"
Her words struck like shards of ice against my wings, each syllable filled with anguish and disbelief.
For a moment, I said nothing.
Then I softened my icy aura and slowly unfolded my great wings, wrapping them gently around her—a cold embrace, yet warm in its meaning.
I lowered my head until our faces met,and the tip of my frost-covered snout brushed lightly against hers.
Her tears froze instantly between us,yet they continued to fall, melting and reforming in an endless, fragile cycle.
I spoke in a low, steady voice—like the murmur of a frozen river beneath the moon:
"Calm yourself… my queen.
It wasn't a wish for death.
It was a moment of fury…
a surge of vengeance that consumed me.
She lowered her head, her icy scales trembling with tension.
Then, in a whisper barely audible amidst the storm, she said:I thought I had lost you… forever.
I pressed my forehead against hers, our horns touching, and felt the weak pulse of her energy gradually return to rhythm.
With a voice as firm and unyielding as eternal ice, I said: Look at me, Aislin…because of that moment, you awakened the second stage of the Imovaris bloodline.
It wasn't death…it was a rebirth born from frost.
I promise you, I won't act recklessly again.
She raised her head slowly,a faint crimson gleam flashing within her tear-filled eyes.
Eison… please…don't ever do that again, alright?
I smiled, the glacial light in my eyes reflecting across her shimmering scales.
I drew my wings tighter around her, forming a circle of pale mist around us—as though isolating her from the rest of the world—and whispered:
I promise, my beloved wife…I'll never let your heart freeze in fear again.
Aislin exhaled softly,a breath of cold mist leaving her lips and mingling with mine, forming a swirl of pale blue light between us—a dance of ancient spirits circling in silent unity.
Then, in a calmer voice—still carrying a trace of lightning within her soul—she said:I've gained the ability of Soul Amplification and Transfer in my right eye…and my left eye has become the Gate of the Frozen Illusion Realm.
There is also… a third, secret power.
But I won't tell you about it yet.
I'll leave it as a surprise… for when the time comes.
I smiled faintly, my claws cracking the ice beneath me,the sound echoing through the plateau like an imperial whisper:
"Then… I shall await that surprise, my beloved wife.
When that time arrives, there will be nothing in this world capable of concealing your power from me.
Her wings fluttered softly, and snow began to fall—gentle, white, and endless.
For a fleeting moment, our wings overlapped, touching in quiet harmony.
That touch was a silent vow between two dragons of frost—a promise that could never be broken…
nor ever melt.
I spoke in a clear, commanding voice:
Alright. Everyone—gather close to me. We're entering the tower together.
Then, in an instant—a powerful spiraling suction formed around us,and everyone was pulled into the tower's vortex of light.
The next moment, we found ourselves within the middle-lower three floors of the Spiral Tower.
I looked around at them and began to explain:These levels are the Living and Training Zones.
They are designed for habitation and cultivation, providing an ideal environment for daily life.
They include the following:
• Vast Open Spaces — capable of housing hundreds of thousands of people.
Here, grand palaces, luxurious homes, and gardens can be built—
all infused with rich, flowing spiritual energy.
• Training Academies — facilities dedicated to refining combat skills
and deepening spiritual knowledge.
• Halls of Enlightenment and Meditation — quiet sanctuaries
that help cultivators attain a deeper understanding of heavenly energy.
• Markets and Public Facilities — including shops, restaurants, and trade centers, ensuring that every need of life can be met within this spiritual paradise.
I paused briefly, then continued in a calm tone:
"Very well, you may do as you please here.
As for me, I have matters to attend to—I'll be heading to the middle-upper three floors for healing and recovery.
Turning toward Bing Hua, I said: Anyway, my emerald wife—you may choose any region within this vast space
and transform it into a suitable territory for your clan.
Begin construction as you wish.
If you require recovery or spiritual replenishment,go to the middle-upper three floors, where all the healing and restoration facilities are located."
Then I added quietly,All is well.
Once I had finished speaking,I left them to tend to their own affairs—
while I made my way directly toward
the middle-upper healing floors of the Spiral Tower.
In a single flash of teleportation, the light around me vanished—
and I reappeared on a completely different level of the tower.
These middle-upper three floors were unlike any others.
The air here wasn't merely infused with spiritual essence—
it was so pure that describing it with words felt impossible.
Energy flowed in from every direction, merging with the very essence of life itself, washing over both body and soul as one.
This place had been created for a single purpose—
to heal, to renew, and to recreate.
The moment I entered the Chamber of Recovery,a gentle energy began to seep into me,flowing through my massive icy scales, repairing what the Heavenly Lightning Tribulation had torn apart,
and restoring the purity of my blood once more.
I murmured softly, breathing deeply,Just as I expected… this place is extraordinary."
Lowering my colossal body to the center of the crystalline floor,I relaxed, closing my eyes as I began to circulate my inner energy, synchronizing it seamlessly with the surrounding healing force.
Streams of azure light flowed around me like living rivers, and slowly, the sense of time itself began to fade.
Nothing else mattered—only recovery… and preparation for what was to come.
Meanwhile, in the lower floors,Bing Hua and her sister Xue Lan were exploring the vast domain given to them, searching for the ideal location to build their new clan's territory.
As for my mother and Aislin, they had joined me in the upper levels.
Aislin lay beside me, her icy body glimmering under the transparent radiance that cascaded from the celestial ceiling above.
Her eyes followed the flow of healing energy as it coursed through her crystalline scales.
She spoke in a quiet voice, soft as a cold breeze crossing mountain peaks:This feeling… it's so soothing. It's as if I'm becoming… an entirely new being."
I smiled faintly, eyes still closed.
"That's only natural… we've already surpassed our previous limits.
But remember—our path still stretches far ahead."
Silence fell between us,broken only by the tranquil sound of energy rippling around our bodies.
In that moment, profound transformations began within us—our scales gleamed with newfound purity, and our internal energies were refined once more.
After about an hour, I slowly opened my eyes, rising from the healing chamber with Aislin at my side,
her aura brighter than before.
My mother remained behind, continuing her restoration.
We left the chamber and moved toward the Lakes of Recovery and the Energy Waterfalls, where the air shimmered with blue vapors dancing over the water like the movements of celestial spirits.
I stopped at the edge of the lake, turned toward Aislin, and said calmly:
"Well then, Aislin… I'll now take on my human form.
Would you like to transform as well?"
Her gleaming, frost-blue eyes met mine, and she answered softly—her tone delicate, yet filled with quiet confidence: Yes… I wish to take my human form too."
I nodded slightly, my voice deep and steady—like an ancient vow whispered beneath the stars:
"Very well."
I closed my eyes, releasing my power from its draconic form,as waves of silver and blue light swirled around me—the beginning of my transformation.
From an Ice Dragon,I shifted into my human form,a shape that concealed within it the dormant might of mountains and frozen storms.
Aislin and I stood upon the shores of the Healing Lake, bathed in a strange, flowing energy that rose from the depths below,
wrapping around our vast, icy forms like a celestial veil of light.
Our crystalline scales shimmered under the radiance of spiritual power, sparkling like a thousand scattered stars across the lake's tranquil surface—as though the very sky itself had descended and mirrored within its depths.
I closed my eyes slowly, feeling that deep, ancient call echo from within me—a voice of blood and lineage, whispering that the body which had carried me through the ages
was ready…to change—to be reborn, freed from its primal form.
Suddenly, a torrent of magical energy surged outward, dancing in spirals of light and shadow, coiling around my vast wings, seeping into bone and blood, driving my entire being toward transformation.
My hardened scales began to glow with silver-blue light, then fell away one by one—like petals of frost scattering upon the wind, revealing beneath them a smooth, radiant skin, cold and luminous as living ice.
I felt my limbs contract,my bones reshaping with impossible precision—each motion accompanied by a faint crackling sound, the birth cry of a new form.
My immense wings folded behind me,gradually dissolving into my back
like light fading into shadow, while my long tail vanished
as if it had never been a part of me at all.
At last, the spiritual mist that cloaked me began to disperse, and the cold vapor swirling around my body faded into silence—
revealing my new form.
A majestic human figure stood where the dragon had once been, emanating the same frozen brilliance
that once resided in the heart of my ancient draconic self.
I lifted my gaze toward my reflection upon the water's surface—and there, I saw a human
with eyes of pure, glacial blue, within which danced the eternal remnants
of a dragon's undying majesty.
No—this form was something far beyond that.
It was an advanced and superior evolution,a unique fusion between the essence of the dragon and the form of man.
I closed my eyes for a moment, sensing the new order flowing within me—a balance that had never existed before, when everything in my being once revolved solely around the Dragon Heart.
Now… three energy cores pulsed within me.
They were not entirely human, nor purely draconic, but something born between the two worlds.
The Lower Dantian, situated below the navel—in humans, it serves as the storage center of spiritual energy.
But in my case…it had become a bottomless ocean, its tides flowing slowly through my being, like the very essence of life itself.
My veins had turned into open channels of energy, through which an endless current surged unceasingly.
My bones were now harder than celestial steel, yet more supple than crystal.
In my former draconic body, this region had little significance, for the Dragon Heart had been the sole source of my power.
But now…the Lower Dantian pulsed with a mysterious strength—a primordial sea of pure energy, its waves crashing ceaselessly within me.
It felt as though this ocean carried a soul of its own,
born from the merging of my ancient draconic bloodline
and my new human form.
A new force…one that, if ever lost, would unravel my equilibrium entirely—and strip away this human form I now possessed.
Then came the Middle Dantian—which was none other than my heart itself—the heart of a dragon.
Though it had shrunk to fit within my human chest, its aura had not weakened in the slightest.
It was no longer a mere organ that pumped blood, but a core of primordial power, beating with the rare, ancient rhythm
of the first dragon lineage.
Each pulse of that heart
sent a deep resonance throughout my body—like the call of ancestors long gone,a reminder of what I truly was.
Every beat carried a strength
that could not be measured by mortal means.
And lastly, the Upper Dantian, residing in the center of my forehead—
the gateway of spirit and consciousness.
Through it,I could perceive realms beyond mortal understanding,
touching upon the celestial energies
that no human could ever hope to withstand.
Though my outward form was now entirely human,my inner being… was anything but.
I was not a man seeking to imitate dragons—I was a dragon, concealing his soul within the vessel of man.
Perhaps… I was both.
Or perhaps something beyond either—a being that unites the Dragon's Heart and the Human Mind, the eternal cold of ice and the unyielding clarity of will.——————————————————————————————————————
