[Pink Diamond (Mc) POV.]
(Gotham City)
I walked, humming to myself as I played with the bag of gems in my hand.
'I wonder if they realised I am in Gotham?
'Batman is probably gonna be pissed, but on the other hand, I couldn't care less.'
I looked around, seeing everyone going about their normal lives. Although Gotham was suffocating in a strange way, it was comforting to be able to walk around like a normal human.
'No wonder heroes keep a second persona; this is a great change every once in a while.'
'Except Big Blue, although he probably just keeps the human identity for his crush.'
'Well, it's not like I have any moral high ground to question the big man himself anyway.'
'Now why did I come here again?…. Oh right it wasn't exactly by my choice'
(A few hours in the past)
I was staring at a literal small mountain of bags of dirt while Superman gave me a thumbs-up before leaving.
'I think Superman thinks I am making a farm... or maybe that I eat dirt for a living?'
I looked down at the few books he handed me.
1-Farm Like You Mean It (The Clueless Farmer's Field Guide).
2-Soil, Sweat & Tears: A Rookie's Tale.
3-The Garden Rookie's Survival Guide.
4-Don't Panic, It's Just a Plant.
5-Sorry, I Thought Plants Watered Themselves.
'What sort of titles are these? Did he really think I am starting a garden or farm?' I felt my lips twitch slightly.
'I only wanted dirt to make gems and diamonds from; the kind didn't matter at all. I wouldn't have minded if he simply used a shovel near the beach or something.'
But I couldn't find it in myself to go after Superman.
'He obviously put a lot of thought into my dirt favour,' I thought, amused and admittedly slightly touched.
'Maybe I should have been clearer.'
But as I looked at the seeds in small bags to the side, a thought came to mind.
'With my tears, those seeds are actually very useful, aren't they?'
I smiled as I stored the tears in my diamond.
"Lion, be a dear and come here; I need to store some things!"
Lion, who came back from the cafeteria obviously from his newest raid for food, paused as he looked at me and then the mountain of dirtbags.
His eyes kept shifting between me and the bags for a few seconds before pink sweat started appearing on his face.
'Oh no, you don't!' I grabbed his tail as he turned to leave, but it only caused him to turn at me with narrowed eyes.
"You wouldn't dare."
Which made him only narrow his eyes more.
Obviously, Lion did in fact dare.
And that was how I found myself Ice skating... Or ground/Iron skating?
Lion literally started running while dragging me with him, my feet sinking in the metallic ground, making me leave two lines in the ground.
"Lion, let's talk about this. What is it that you want? More cuddles? Is it hugs? FOOD?"
[Artemis Crock POV.]
'My mother... She can walk again!'
That was the thought that has been on my mind since I saw Pink Diamond on that video, especially after asking Green Arrow if her ability is as exaggerated as it really seemed to be.
He told me that her tears literally grew the real Speedy arm... an entire arm missing regrew like it was a bruise.
'I needed those tears.'
The Justice League informed us that Pink actually gave many bottles to Superman and that they decided to give most of them to us.
But it wasn't like they would throw it to us like some cheap drinks.
Batman himself was going to manage how much we need and how much is necessary.
We go on a mission with a few tears; we either use them during the mission, or we return them to Batman.
'I like to think that I am skilled, but stealing from Batman? That was a disaster waiting to happen.'
I could try hiding the tears somewhere during the missions or take the easier road and ask the literal walking miracle herself.
"Hey Artemis, you seem troubled."
I turned my head to see the entire team looking at me; before I was about to dismiss their worries, I was cut off by either the most bizarre or comical scene I have ever seen.
"Get out of the way!"
We moved to the side as a pink blur passed.
"Uhhhh? What was that?"
[Pink Diamond (Mc) POV.]
'Lion, will you please stop this already! Do you hate dirt or something?!' I shouted at the fur ball that refused to stop for some reason.
'I could add more force or even punch him...'
As I prepared to try to hold him down, his goofy face came into view, and he seemed to be having fun, like this is a game for him.
So like every pet owner in the world, I couldn't bring myself to do it.
If Lion harmed someone for no reason or had gone feral, I might not mind using some force to restrain him or even try to send him to the dream world, but other than that, I was far too soft to actually punch him for anything less.
"You Overgrown cat! This is not a game."
So I ended up scolding him... not that it worked at all.
'Hey Pink, you uh? You need help or something?'
I turned to see Kid Flash running beside, and he had a dumb look for some reason.
I would have loved to chat more, but Lion simply roared a portal in front of Kid Flash, and he was teleported to god knows where.
'Oh boy.'
As Lion huffed, happy that he kicked Kid Flash from our 'Game,' I would have shouted at him again, but something more pressing took my attention.
'Lion! That's a door. LION, THAT IS A METAL DOOR!'
And with a bang, Lion and I broke through the metal door, directly interrupting the meeting of the big capes.
Not that Lion cared, as with a jump, he opened a portal in the air and dragged us into it.
The last thing I saw was Batman staring at me with a very annoyed bat-glare.
(Present Time)
So to avoid detection, I changed to my Rose Quartz persona. Me and the finally satisfied Lion were enjoying the views of Gotham.
(Pic)
Which was not much. Gotham was the kind of city that you would visit once, and the moment you step inside, you will decide that you hate it and would simply leave, never to return.
The best term I could come up with was that it was suffocating.
The city seemed hollow; the sky was grey, the sun rays never really reaching the ground like they should, as if the sun rays filter through a permanent veil of smog or pollution.
Even the people are different.
People move quickly, shoulders hunched, eyes avoiding contact, as if everyone is always alarmed.
I hated the place. I didn't know why, but it felt like the whole city was simply a death trap of sorts.
I am powerful. I can flatten Gotham alone in less than an hour, yet I still feel like a mouse walking inside a death trap.
Since Lion teleported us here, the only constant was a confusing sense of dread.
It was small, but it was present, like a constant warning...
And the fact that I was walking as Rose Quartz wasn't exactly helping.
As Pink Diamond, I was beautiful and had an inhuman perfection.
As Rose Quartz, my looks drop to a model beauty and a well-paid one at that... yeah, it isn't helping much.
Of course, I am not counting the literal Lion walking beside me.
'I am surprised that no one has called the cops yet.'
On another thought, this is Gotham. I think people learned to keep their noses out of people's business.
'A smart policy, after all; not everyone is Batman after all.'
'But since I am here, I might as well check if my self-made gems count as real gems to human standards.'
Even though I left the dirt at the watchtower,
It took me less than a second to make a few gems from the ground and the dirt in the city.
I literally just breathed a little on the dirt as I covered it in my hand to make it shape as I like, and ta-da!
It is probably far more complicated in detail, but even human organic bodies do a lot of complicated cycles and systems, yet when you ask a normal human how he breathes, he would simply say that he takes air in and out.
And just like that, I simply couldn't explain how I do what I do... It just comes naturally. After all, I don't do breathing.
I looked to the side as Lion walked happily.
He wanted a walk or he simply got too bored with the tower.
'All that tantrum just because you wanted to play?' I shook my head as I kept walking.
My plan was simple.
A. Find a Jewelry store.
B. See if my gems actually have real value.
C. Sell if I can. (Side Mission)
D. Keep playing with Lion until Batman realizes I am in his home territory and he comes for us.
E. Make sure to cripple a certain clown if we happen to cross paths. (Side Mission)
I looked back, amused, as I saw some shady-looking people pointing at my diamond, which I didn't care to cover, and of course, Lion.
'They would probably try to rob us.'
I don't mind honestly. If anyone in Gotham tried robbing me, I would simply give them the gems in the bag and leave.
It would take me less than a second to fill it again anyway; the city isn't lacking dirt, that's for sure.
Of course, if they pushed their luck and didn't take the gems and leave like good criminals,
Then I might just let Lion teleport them to the watchtower.
'But why do I feel like I forgot something?'
[Kid Flash (Wally West) POV.]
'Where the hell am I?' as he scratched his head in confusion.
Muttered Wally West as he looked at a very strange wall that seemed historical.
With an increased and growing sense of dread, he looked around at the tourists to confirm his idea.
'Don't tell me the Great Wall of China? ... I AM IN CHINA!'
'Flash is either gonna be angry, or he will hold this against me forever... I would never live this down.'
