Chapter 7 - The Oath

Aarav didn't cry the first night.

The retired officer's house smelt of gun oil and iron discipline.

"Stand straight," the man barked.

Aarav was eight.

He stood straight.

"Again."

Push-ups on cold cement.

His palms burnt.

His chest ached.

But he didn't stop.

Because when he closed his eyes, he saw Reyansh crying.

He saw Anaya reaching.

He saw his mother's face when they pulled them apart.

The officer watched silently.

"You're too young for this," he muttered.

Aarav didn't answer.

He finished the set.

Later that night, alone in a narrow bed, he stared at the ceiling.

The house was quiet.

Too quiet.

He whispered into the darkness.

"I'll get strong."

His voice trembled.

"I'll find them."

Across another city—

Riya stood outside an operating room.

Her adoptive mother adjusted her gloves.

"Why do you want to watch?" she asked gently.

Riya didn't look away from the red light above the door.

"Because I don't want to lose anyone again."

The doctor froze slightly.

She didn't understand the full weight of that sentence.

But she nodded.

Far away—

Ishaan slammed a law book shut.

"The system is corrupt," he said bitterly.

The judge looked at him carefully.

"Then change it."

The words hit deeper than intended.

In another corner of the country—

Kavya stared at a stock graph.

Numbers rising.

Numbers falling.

"Control is power," the industrialist said.

Kavya thought of Savita.

Of the mansion.

Out of control.

Her lips pressed thin.

She would learn.

Even farther—

Aryan wrote a single line in his notebook.

Families don't disappear. They are taken.

He closed the book quietly.

And somewhere beyond them all—

Meera woke from a restless sleep.

Her hand moved to her stomach.

The child stirred.

Strong.

Alive.

A connection none of them understood.

Not yet.

But on that same night—

Five children, in five different cities, looked up at the same moon.

And each made the same promise.

Not loud.

Not dramatic.

Just quiet.

"We'll come back."
