Chapter 14 - The Power of Energy

Previously on a show which conveniently has a tournament arc, we found out that The BBC is no joke. Each member has their own set of skills and abilities. We saw how truly powerful this group is, now we get to see one of the most underestimated members of the group, Rems. What kind of power does he have, huh?

A Punch with a Purpose

MXO lands a powerful punch on SK's face, a blow so forceful that the impact shakes the very ground beneath the students' feet. The crowd gasps, a collective wave of astonishment rolling through the stands.

"Woah, he's not holding back, is he?" Hakuna mentions, his eyes wide with surprise.

"No, that's not it," the demon Psycha interjects, her voice a calm analysis in his mind. "His power-to-strength ratio is 2:1, no, maybe even 1.5:1. His punches, they're so odd, off-balance yet perfectly executed…"

Super then explains, his voice betraying a hint of grudging respect for his teammate. "He is holding back; he's just got too much power behind his punches. No matter how much he tries, he will always hit harder than he wants to…"

SK gets up quickly, shaking off the impact. He starts to dodge MXO's attacks, a look of focused determination on his face. He leaps towards him, and just as he was about to land a punch of his own, MXO grabs him and throws him to the ground with a seemingly effortless motion.

Super continues, "With that mishap, he uses momentum to fight sometimes…"

"Interesting, momentum…" the prince says, his mind already dissecting the complexities of MXO's fighting style.

SK tries his second attempt at an attack, a desperate surge of energy. He launches himself at MXO, but before he could even register what was happening, MXO kicks SK on the side of the head, a blow so fast and powerful that it knocks him out immediately.

MXO wins. The crowd roars in a mix of shock and awe.

The Power of Adapt

As the ring is being cleaned, Freddie walks out from the infirmary, a tired look on his face. He begins to speak, "Seems like Rems is next, and I'm the only one who lost so far. Oh, my goodness…"

"Why do I gotta fight again?" Rems asks, looking for a reason not to participate, a slight tremor in his voice.

"It's because they're challenging the whole BBC, you dolt! Now go get your body bruised…" Super shouts, his voice a mix of frustration and encouragement.

"What is that ominous presence?" Psycha asks, suddenly feeling chills, a sense of raw power washing over her.

"I don't know, wait, it's… Rems…!" Hakuna says, his eyes widening as he realizes the source of the immense energy.

Rems often withdraws from fights, and everyone often says he's studying, but Rems is always training, almost more than Hakuna. His talent is Adapt; he can immediately learn abilities and techniques just by watching people do them as a feature of the Talent. And lately, he's been watching a lot of Naruto: Shippuden. His now favourite character, Might Guy, has become a source of inspiration.

Rems' opponent is Khensani, a long-time friend and rival of his. As he gets on the ring, he emanates a red aura, a powerful, pulsating energy similar to Might Guy's 8th Gate of Death technique. The fight begins, but to the untrained eye, it was over before it even started. Rems is fast, almost too fast. Side to side, up and down, he moves around Khensani like a ghost, a blur of motion. He immediately one-shot him and wins the battle.

"Wait, how did he do that?" Hakuna asks, his mind reeling. He didn't even notice Rems move.Psycha, already understanding the prince's confusion, deliberates, "He did move. You just weren't at a state of power where you could see him then. His speed is truly remarkable."

"Hmm, I'm impressed…" the boy says, a newfound respect for Rems in his voice.

"That took longer than I thought, hmm… seems like I'm next…" Super chimes in, a confident smirk on his face.

"Hmm, this one seems to have quite the talent…" Psycha says, her voice filled with a hint of anticipation.

"What are you talking about?" The prince questions, a new curiosity building inside him.

"You really don't know? Fine, I'll tell you." Psycha sighs, her ethereal form becoming clearer in his mind.

Super walks towards the ring, his footsteps confident and measured. The demon begins to explain, "Talents are used to determine the kind of abilities a person has. Like your talent is Power, the talent for absolute power. Super has Ego; it works in tandem with his self-confidence. The more he believes in himself against an opponent, the stronger he is when fighting them. Talents don't necessarily tell you how strong a person is. Take a look at Freddie and Enzo, or even your brother and father. Your father's Talent is Leader; this talent gives an individual a presence that many can trust, which is why they're so good at what they do. Your brother's talent is Decide; anything he decides always works in his favour, even when it seems like a terrible decision. But he is incredibly powerful. Freddie, on the other hand, while he is stronger than most, he isn't on the same level as the rest of the BBC. From the looks of it, he has never trained in his life, but his talent is Fast; his speed is incomprehensible. But you were only able to catch up to him because he doesn't train. He has potential, a lot of it… the main focus though, as of right now, is that guy. I've never seen the talent Ego in action. It truly would be a site to behold…"

The Line is Drawn

As Super makes it onto the ring, his opponent walks up on the other side. It's Niguel, an ex-BBC member and someone who really likes provoking him. Super recognizes Niguel and the old animosity immediately resurfaces. "You. I shouldn't be wasting my time with you…"

Niguel, recognizing Super, has a sinister grin on his face. "Now, now, Super, there is no need for hostility, but I have a question for you before we begin…""What is it?" Super asks, already tired of the exchange.

Niguel's grin widens as he leans in close. He asks, "How is Tshepy doing?"

Something changes. Super's calm expression has changed to one of murderous intent. His aura darkens, and a chilling pressure emanates from his body. He says, his voice a low, terrifying growl, "Do me a favour and swallow the words that came out of your mouth…" He points his right arm in Niguel's direction.

Niguel, seeing it, asks, "Ohh, is that supposed to scare me?"

Super, still with murderous intent in his eyes, prepares to flick his middle finger as he says, "No, it's supposed to kill you…" He flicks his finger, and a powerful pressure blows Niguel away so hard that his head smashes through the wall behind him.

Super then monologues, his voice a cold, chilling whisper. "I let you go after my exes before, but Tshepy is where I draw the line. Failure to understand that, gets you killed…"

Super wins, obviously.

"Wait, isn't Karabo the one who uh…?" Hakuna asks, a confused look on his face.

Super explains, his voice returning to its normal, flat tone. "There's only two girls in my life with that kind of significance, and that's Tshepy and Karabo. There's no way he can date Karabo, because Karabo is his cousin…"

Oh, I thought Niguel was gonna mention Karabo, now I know why he didn't.

Anyway, as Super takes his seat, Enzo stands. Next fight, Enzo vs. Res.

"This'll definitely be interesting…" the prince says, a flicker of excitement in his eyes.

You really like saying that, huh?

"Shut up…" Hakuna responds.

Fade out.
