Chapter 88 - 88: The Self-Healing Super Glass

On the chaotic city street—

The vehicle that should have been nothing but charred wreckage after the C4 detonation, Diomas, was still miraculously intact. Instead of being reduced to twisted steel and fire, the car had only veered slightly off course.

The onlookers saw an impossible sight: the supercar's body, hit by the full blast, rippled like elastic jelly, soft and pliant. Explosive shockwaves rolled across the car's frame like concentric ripples on water, each vibration absorbed and neutralized.

The onboard control system was operating with surgical precision, dispersing every ounce of the impact. The outer layer of "soft metal" reached its most elastic state, converting deadly energy into harmless oscillations.

But the one thing it couldn't eliminate—the intense heat.

Now, Diomas roared through the flames like a demon from the underworld. Parts of its paint had scorched and melted, glowing like molten lava. The once sleek supercar now carried the terrifying aura of a half-burning, half-living monster, like a devil with a face of fire and magma.

Even for those used to seeing explosions, this was jaw-dropping.

"Holy sh*t, that didn't kill it?!" Carvill—Eteon's cybernetic enforcer—stared in disbelief.

He had expected total annihilation. Even a battle tank, hit point-blank with C4, would at least lose its tracks. But Diomas? The car shrugged it off with barely a scratch—only a few patches of burnt paint.

"This isn't a car… this is a fortress on wheels!"

Its defense could rival a warship… even a mega-dam.

Carvill's metal jaw tightened, his eyes nearly popping from shock. The only escalation left in his mind: missiles.

Inside the car, meanwhile, panic had turned to awe.

Dr. Andrek—the so-called "Dog Doctor"—was trembling like a frightened child. His face pale, lips quivering, he clutched his head and squeezed his eyes shut, utterly useless.

In the back, both women, Hattie and Elena, had screamed and braced for death. But when the explosion passed, they opened their eyes to… nothing.

The air-conditioning still hummed. The cabin temperature hadn't risen an inch.

Incredibly, they were safe.

Hattie slowly lowered the arm she had used to shield her head, her eyes wide with shock. Out the side window, she saw the impossible—the shattered glass was repairing itself, as though the car were alive. The cracks sealed over, piece by piece, until it looked brand new.

Her trembling fingers brushed against the pane. Not a single scar remained.

"This… this is impossible," Hattie whispered.

Elena, hearing the awe in her voice, peeked as well. Her eyes widened at the sight of glass healing itself.

"Glass that… regenerates?"

The level of tech here was insane. They were looking at a car—but it felt more like alien technology.

Elena's mind raced. If police and military vehicles had this tech, the survival rate in ambushes and bombings would skyrocket.

"Is this your team's invention?" Elena asked, her voice quivering with excitement.

Leon —the genius mechanic behind Diomas—answered casually, as though it was nothing:

"Yeah. We call it Super Glass. It's infused with a new kind of memory metal. When damaged, it automatically restores itself."

The explanation was simple, but everyone in the car understood how insane the implications were.

Memory alloys already existed, but memory composites that could merge with glass? That was practically a myth.

Dr. Andrek was floored. "Impossible! Even with metal infusion, glass doesn't regenerate!" He clawed at his brain for an answer, but nothing in his research background matched what he was seeing.

Leon gave him a dismissive look.

"The proof is right in front of you. Or do you want me to write out the formula for you?"

Andrek clenched his fists, frustrated. The contradiction drove him mad—his knowledge told him it was impossible, but his eyes told him otherwise.

Leon continued, almost smug:

"Each replacement set of this Super Glass costs ten million. Limited production. Not for sale publicly."

That crushed Hattie and Elena's excitement for a moment—until he added:

"But… for safety, I can fit your new cars with them first."

The women lit up with joy. With this tech, their chances of dying in the field dropped dramatically.

Leon knew exactly what he was doing. Give the team a taste of sweetness now, so when they follow him into bigger battles, they'll know their lives are secure. Secure lives meant loyalty—and loyalty meant profit.

As Diomas blazed out of the city, the roads thinned. Leon slammed the accelerator, and the supercar surged forward like a jet engine strapped to wheels.

Trees bent under the wind shear as he approached a sharp bend.

Handbrake. Controlled drift.

Diomas slid sideways with balletic grace, dust and smoke trailing like a comet's tail. To onlookers, it was like watching art in motion—a tango of speed, precision, and raw power.

By the time other drivers registered what had happened, Diomas was already gone, swallowed by the curve.

Then came the roar of the highway.

Leon's eyes gleamed. He pushed harder, the engine screaming like a beast unchained. Shockwaves burst around the car as it broke the sound barrier, trailing a white sonic ring across the asphalt.

Other drivers swerved in terror, their cars shaken by the pressure wave. Chaos rippled across the highway.

Above—

The rapid thump of rotor blades. A black Eteon helicopter swooped in. Unlike ordinary choppers, this was a supersonic model, capable of 650 km/h.

At the door, glaring down with hatred, stood Carvill.

From the beginning, Diomas had brought him nothing but humiliation and rage. And now, Eteon had equipped him with something terrifying: not a machine gun, but a laser cannon.

While most nations still struggled to miniaturize battlefield laser weapons, Eteon had already done it. The power was limited, but against a car, it was more than enough.

Carvill bared his teeth. Facing tanks, he trusted his laser could pierce them. But against Diomas, after seeing it shrug off C4? He wasn't sure anymore.

The targeting system beeped.

"Laser locked. Fire?"

"Kill him!!" Carvill roared.
