Chapter 101 - CHAPTER 101

Na Clan- 4

Madam Min made her move later than Seonu Jin had expected—late the next morning.

It seemed she didn't have the courage to act on her own, waiting instead for the physician to arrive.

Thus, Physician Yang—who had been secretly conspiring with Madam Min to slip small doses of poison into the Lord of Naga Manor's medicine—was caught off guard by her sudden demand.

"You mean… you want me to make a poison strong enough to kill the Lord immediately?"

The haggard Madam Min, her eyes sunken after a sleepless night, snapped back urgently:

"Yes. Right now! We have to kill the Lord immediately! If that woman really brings a guiyi (strange physician), all our deeds might be exposed!"

"Wh–what?! She's bringing a guiyi?!"

To Physician Yang, this news was like thunder striking a clear sky. He knew very well just how skilled—and how eccentric—that physician was reputed to be.

His complexion turned as pale as Madam Min's.

Still, he did not immediately agree.

"B–but if poison is administered all at once, traces remain on the body. The skin tone, the rate of decay…"

Madam Min snapped, exasperated.

"Then we just bury him right away! Do you plan to stall because of something like that? If it gets discovered, will you take responsibility?"

"Th–that…"

In the end, Physician Yang had no choice but to do as she said. The two were bound together in a shared fate; both were desperate.

Mixing all the poison he carried into the decoction, Physician Yang followed Madam Min into the Lord's chambers.

Sweat streamed down his already pale face.

The Lord of Naga Manor, lying in bed with illness clearly etched on his face, nevertheless greeted him warmly with a smile.

"Ah, Physician Yang. Welcome."

"Y–yes, my Lord. How… how have you been feeling?"

"These past few days I've felt somewhat better. Seems your medicine is finally taking effect, hahahaha!"

"I–is that so…"

Even in ordinary conversation, Physician Yang stammered excessively.

Madam Min frowned at his awkwardness. The Lord tilted his head and asked, puzzled:

"You look unusually pale today. And sweating more than usual… is something wrong?"

"N–no, not at all. Just feeling a little… unwell."

Forcing a smile, the physician excused himself. The Lord sighed and remarked:

"Then perhaps you should be the one to drink this medicine today?"

It was an alarming suggestion.

"Wh–what?!"

"Why so startled? My body feels not too bad today, so I thought you could take the medicine instead."

"Th–th–that's…"

Physician Yang went white as paper, unable to respond.

Madam Min, watching nervously, hurriedly cut in:

"Oh ho ho! My Lord, you jest! How could you waste such precious medicine on the physician? Everyone's constitution is different—taking another's medicine could be dangerous!"

Physician Yang nodded vigorously.

"Y–yes, that's right! Different constitutions! One mustn't take another's prescription!"

At their panicked reactions, the Lord nodded.

"I see. Very well. Then please give me the medicine."

But his eyes gleamed sharply as he said it—a look the anxious pair failed to notice.

Having already heard Seonu Jin's warning, the Lord had been feigning ignorance, testing them. Their frantic responses confirmed his suspicion: today's decoction was indeed poison.

And in the shadows above, clinging like a bat to the ceiling corner, Seonu Jin had also drawn the same conclusion.

He was preparing to leap down the moment the physician handed over the decoction, catching them red-handed.

Then it happened.

As Physician Yang's trembling hands poured the medicine into a bowl—

A loud shout rang from outside.

"Lord! Madam! Terrible news!"

"Oh no!"

Clang!

Startled, Physician Yang spilled the medicine.

"N–no!"

"Wh–what have you done?!"

Madam Min's face twisted in rage. All the poison he had was in that decoction—now wasted.

But she did not notice that both the Lord's and Seonu Jin's expressions had also hardened at the sight.

"Lord! Madam!"

The shouts outside continued.

Annoyed, Madam Min yanked open the door and barked:

"What's with all this commotion?!"

There stood two warriors: one from Naga Manor, and another from outside.

She was about to scold them furiously when she noticed the outsider's face—drained of all color.

As she stared at him in confusion, the Naga warrior spoke first, hurriedly:

"Disaster, Madam! The people of Jo Manor and Gwak Manor have been slaughtered!"

Jo Manor lay at the southern edge of Heungui in Guizhou Province, and Gwak Manor a little further north—both mid-sized sects similar in scale to Naga Manor.

Moreover, Gwak Manor was not far from here.

Frowning, Madam Min asked:

"What nonsense is this? Just recently those two sects were fine. How could they suddenly be wiped out?"

The outsider warrior, trembling, explained:

"M–monsters. At dawn, a warrior from Jo Manor staggered into Gwak Manor…"

According to him, two warriors had fled Jo Manor in terror, reporting that three monstrous figures had arrived and massacred everyone.

But Gwak Manor had doubted their story, deciding to wait until morning to discuss it.

Yet before long, those very creatures came to Gwak Manor as well.

One man and two women.

The Gwak warrior, recalling it, shivered and sobbed:

"Those fiends… they tore people apart like beasts and sucked their blood. Women, children—none were spared… uuuugh…"

His words trailed into sobs. Madam Min frowned at him with distaste.

"What nonsense. How could just three people wipe out two sects? And they're not beasts—what's this about tearing people and drinking blood? You must be out of your mind…"

Just then—

From the front gate of Naga Manor, screams erupted.

"Aaaaargh!"

"Wh–who's there?! Gaaah!"

"Y–you bastard! Urrrgh!"

The Gwak warrior snapped his head up, eyes wide with terror, and screamed:

"Th–they're here! They followed me!"

The warrior suddenly bolted, scrambling up Naga Manor's wall like a madman, desperate to escape.

"I have to run! We all have to run!"

Madam Min was stunned by the abrupt chaos.

"Wh–what in the world…"

But even as she faltered, the screams outside did not cease.

"Gyaaaah!"

"Aaaaagh!"

The screams were so wretched, it was impossible to imagine what was happening.

Madam Min shouted to the Naga Manor warrior:

"What are you doing?! Go find out what's going on and report back to me at once!"

"Y–yes, Madam!"

Just then, the words of the Gwak Manor warrior replayed in her mind.

"Just three of them wiped out Jo Manor and Gwak Manor? They tore people apart and drank their blood?"

She swallowed hard without realizing it.

If that story was true, then this was no time to remain here. If they had slaughtered Jo and Gwak Manor, there was no reason they couldn't do the same to Naga Manor.

Only one thought filled her mind:

"I must escape. Quickly, before it's too late."

Then, suddenly, her son lying in his room came to mind.

"My son… my Seohwang…"

Madam Min ran in haste toward her son's chambers, caring nothing for what might become of the Lord of Naga Manor or Physician Yang.

Meanwhile, Seonu Jin—who had been hidden inside the chamber—and Na Seoyu—hidden on the roof—both revealed themselves and rushed out.

Physician Yang, startled by Seonu Jin's sudden appearance, shrieked in terror:

"Aaaagh!"

But Seonu Jin had no time to deal with him.

Na Seoyu called urgently:

"Young Master Seonu, could it be?!"

Seonu Jin nodded grimly.

"It seems so. Of all times, now…"

He bit his lip in frustration.

On his first day at Naga Manor, he had confirmed that the Iron Ghost had not yet arrived, then immediately gone to Hao Clan to inquire whether they could procure Huagol Herb.

At the time, Hao Clan had said they had none in stock, but that it could be obtained for a price. So Seonu Jin had paid and placed an order.

They had promised it would be ready by today, telling him to return in the afternoon.

Yet before he could fetch it, the monsters had appeared.

It was a bitter twist of fate.

Still, Seonu Jin quickly cast aside regret over the Huagol Herb. Longing for what he did not have was useless now.

Making a swift decision, he told Na Seoyu:

"Miss Na, take your father and flee elsewhere. I'll hold them off."

Na Seoyu cried out in alarm:

"What?! But those creatures—!"

She knew well the tales—that those monsters were impervious even to sword auras. To face them alone was suicide.

But Seonu Jin only smiled with confidence.

"Do not worry, Miss Na. From the screams, it seems not all of them have arrived yet. Only one has come ahead."

Indeed, the cries were not simultaneous, but one after another. That told Seonu Jin only a single enemy was present.

"If it's just one, it's no match for me. I can't kill it, but it can't kill me either. And if things truly turn dire, I can still escape. Surely you don't doubt my speed? So leave me be and quickly move the Lord to safety."

Na Seoyu looked at his confident expression, then at last nodded. It truly seemed the best option.

"Very well. I'll leave it to you, Young Master Seonu. But… please, be careful."

Smiling, Seonu Jin nodded and leapt toward the manor's front gate, while Na Seoyu returned inside.

She approached her father cautiously and said:

"Father, it seems the Demon Sect's fiends are attacking. You must take shelter at once."

But the Lord of Naga Manor only chuckled and shook his head.

"How can I, as the Lord, abandon this place and flee? Seoyu, you must escape instead."

Na Seoyu sighed. She had expected as much, given her father's character.

But she could not obey.

Bowing her head, she spoke softly:

"Forgive me, Father."

"Hm? What do you—"

Tap!

"Ugh!"

Na Seoyu pressed a point on his meridian without hesitation, rendering him unconscious.

She then turned to Physician Yang, who stood frozen in panic.

"I'm taking my father out of here. What do you suggest?"

Physician Yang shook his head frantically.

"N–no, that's impossible! The Lord must remain completely at rest! Moving him carelessly could worsen his condition—"

Na Seoyu cut him off coldly.

"Because of the poison you gave him, you mean?"

"Wh–what?!"

Physician Yang nearly collapsed in shock. How could she know?

But when he met her gaze, he froze in even greater terror.

Her eyes blazed with killing intent, icy and merciless.

Na Seoyu's voice dripped with menace as she said:

"If my father suffers even the slightest harm, you'll regret not killing yourself. I'll make sure you live long enough to see hell with your own eyes."

The suffocating killing aura wrapped around him like tar, and her murderous glare pinned him in place.

Physician Yang shook like a leaf, unable to withstand the aura of a top-ranked martial master.

On the verge of fainting, gasping for breath, he nearly collapsed when Na Seoyu finally withdrew her aura and spoke again.

"Now. I'm moving my father. What must be done?"

The words burst out of him reflexively:

"A stretcher! We must make a stretcher! Then he can be carried carefully!"

Na Seoyu gave him an icy command:

"Then make one."

"Y–yes, Lady Na! At once!"
