Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO

RUSSELL

Dawnstar adjusted her hood, flipped me off and left muttering to herself. I felt a sigh escape my lips as I glanced back out the window as the crescent moon. I took a deep breath and fell back into the threads of fate, the same sight of Euphoria in ruins. The pungent smell of rotten flesh greeted me once again, ash and rumble beneath my feet, that future seeming inevitable-

Where was the other path?

I turned away, stepped into the void, its movement like a gentle breeze until the darkness became lighter and Euphoria reformed once again, having time to properly perceive my vision, it looked even more grand than I had seen before. A market bustled with all sorts of people as they bargained and discussed so lively.

Dawnstar… save this… I beg.

Slowly opening my eyes, I was in the same spot, Terse night market, an inverse of-

…

"How on Earth did I get here?!"

Heads turned at my outburst, I felt the heat crawl up my neck.

I laughed nervously… too loud, too awkwardly.

Kinda like a hyena.

 Oh stars!

End me. Just End me right here.

I tugged my hood of my cloak on as I strided away, heading home through the grime filled street. My left arm lifted as I hid my face with my tunic's baggy sleeves.

What's going on with my visions these days?

I need a break. How would I even tell the guild what happened?

They wouldn't pin the blame on Dawnstar, right? No. It's all gonna be fine.

'You killed the wrong target, WE are in this together.' I felt my face burn, the memory flashing through my head as I turned my pocket for my keys.

I said that. To Dawnstar. A woman who could end my life with nothing more than a spoon and mild annoyance. My threat now felt like tryouts for the lead role in a funeral.

Great, Russell, just great. Threatening an S-tier assassin, might as well write my will and buy a coffin now to save time.

Tidbit: Guild :- The guild of Silver Verdict.
