Chapter 18 - Picking a Weapon

Raze started to walk around the room, looking for the perfect weapon that would suit him. His system helped him rule out anything that would be too heavy for him, and weapons that decrease one of his stats.

Currently, all the weapons the system has detected were all in the basic tier. The lowest level a beast weapon could possibly be. The weapons are categorized by the strength of the beast crystal it was made with.

This was based on beasts from planets that had already been discovered.

There was sure to be other planets with stronger beasts and abilities that they were yet to find out about, that may be categorized above that.

In the human world today, there were three known weapons. They were way above the strength and level of the basic tier weapons. The world called them Nightmare Tier weapons instead. The Nightmare Tier was the strongest tier a beast could ever reach.

After looking around for a while, Raze finally came across a weapon that suited him.

[Grey Wolf Gauntlets]

[Basic Tier Beast Weapon]

[Strength: +4]

[Agility +3]

[Stamina: 0]

[Endurance +2]

[Defence: 2]

[This weapon is compatible with the skill: Piercing Slash. When used with the gauntlet, the skill Piercing Slash would have a 5% boost in power.]

Raze smirked faintly upon seeing this. 'Grey Wolf Gauntlets. You're the one I choose.'

The gauntlets were dark grey in color and had a little white soft fur going up the forearm. The fingertips were pointed and sharp at the end, giving it a resemblance to a wolf claw.

Raze looked over the stats it would give and this only made the weapon interested him even more. The appearance of the gauntlet was what lured him into choosing it before anyone else could.

'These gauntlets...they can boost my stats. I can them to defend and most important, It increases the power of my Piercing Slash, which would be helpful in future battles.'

Raze grabbed the gauntlets and slide the gauntlets right on.

[Basic Grey Wolf Gauntlets equipped]

[Strength: 18 (+4)]

[Agility: 18 (+3)]

[Stamina:18 (+1)]

[Endurance: 17 (+2)]

Upon wearing these gauntlets Raze could already feel himself stronger than before.

Once everyone had finished picking out their weapon. Ray called everyone to gather around the center of the platform.

Ray cleared his throat, his voice carrying across the wide space easily. "First thing first. Abilities are banned from today's lesson." Nearly all the students were disappointed upon hearing that but Ray didn't give two folds. "Now let's get to the main point. I pretend that I'm an expert in every weapon in this room," he said, pausing for a short moment before continuing, "Some of you might even handle your weapons better than me. What I am an expert in is clearly fighting. Fighting can be considered a game if you think about it. You are always trying to predict your opponent's next move. "For your first lesson, we're going to spar. Two people at a time. The rest of you will watch, and I'll tell you what you did wrong. What you did right. And how not to fumble your movements. Now…" He folded his arms. "Any volunteers?"

In an instant, many hands shot up, nearly all the students were eager to go up first.

Ray scanned the eager crowd with a faint smirk. "Alright then…" After a moment's thought, he lifted a finger and pointed. "You. And you. Step onto the platform."

Two students walked up onto the platform, standing across from each other.

The first guy was tall with broad shoulders, his short brown hair slicked back with gel. He carried a longsword in one hand, gripping it tight like he already knew how to use it.

The second guy was slimmer, with messy black hair that fell into his eyes. He held a pair of daggers, spinning them around in his hands with a cocky grin.

"Do you really think you can defeat me?" The second guy said, flashing his cocky grin that was plastered on his face.

The tall boy said nothing and simply took his stance, waiting for his opponent to come first.

The cocky boy lunged forward with impressive speed. He threw his dagger straight towards the tall boy's leg but he quickly avoided it and charged forward.

"Not bad, buff guy" the cocky boy said, tauntingly.

The tall boy went for a feint with the sword, catching the cocky boy off guard before kicking him in the chest and sending him skidding back.

The tall boy didn't stop there. He quickly followed up with a strike straight towards the boy head before stopping. The tip of the longsword pointing straight at the boy's forehead, drawing a small amount of blood.

Everything happened so quickly that the students who were watching were left in silence.

"Impressive display." Ray said, before calling off the match.

The students continued to watch a few fights. The fights were increasingly longer, since most of the students were equally match when it came to using weapons. A few levels 4s had lost to level 3s or 2s. Mainly because they couldn't use their abilities and it solely came onto using their body and their skills with the weapon.

"The next pair, Raze Zaden, and Jackson Riley, to the arena."

Now it was Raze turn.

For once, he finally felt that he was not weaker than his opponent. Only skills and body mattered here.
