"Mother, please forgive me," she cried.
Sophia stared at her, her expression softening a bit.
"Why are you asking for forgiveness? What wrong could the King's concubine have done to an ordinary person like myself?" she replied, full of sarcasm.
"Mother!"
"Don't call me your mother!" Sophia snapped, matching her tone.
She moved closer to Catherine, staring down at her.
"Since you have decided to defile me and decide your own fate, why call me your mother?" she scolded.
Catherine glared lightly, fuming without a response.
She knows she has disobeyed her and followed her own will, but she is only like this because she failed.
If she had succeeded, then she would have been proud to tell her she was right in her decisions.
"Sister, Catherine was only being a child," Hannah interrupted.
"Yes. The deed has already been done; there is nothing left but to forgive her," Margaret added.
