My head was hurting from staying up all night .
But I could not even bear to close my eyes . I could not bear to let Liam out of my sight .
I remembered him in the bathtub, throwing up - he was not fine , he was not doing fine at all .
In the morning , Mrs. Anderson called us . Liam was still sleeping on the sofa . He sounded exhausted.
" How is he doing ," my mother-in-law asked .
" We talked," I did not know how to break it down to her , the fact that his son was going back to the perpetrator who had killed most of his teenage years .
" I understand," she sounded scared ," What was he thinking ? What did he say ?"
" You are right about Palmer ."
The other side of the phone went silent. I wondered if she was crying right now .
" I had some suspicion," she told me in trembling voice ," So I kept telling him to breakup with that woman but he would not listen to me . Maybe I should have locked him up ."
" It's too late for that ," God , I wished that my husband was not a famous celebrity. I wished that he was a normal man .
So that nobody would care of we could ship him away to some far island where he could not nothing to hurt himself like that .
Suddenly Liam's phone rang . I quickly cut off my call after promising my mother-in-law that I would keep updating her on the matter.
Then I picked up his phone .
Surely , it was Palmer calling him .
What did she wants now ?
What more did she wants ?
Liam had already woke up .
" Julia ," Liam begged me ," Please , give me the phone back ."
" No ," I was determined.
" Julia , if I don't pick up her calls , she gets hysteric , I can not risk that ," Liam told me in a gentle voice , but it felt like he was peeling off my skin ," I am fine , I have been doing this for a while ,anyway ."
" Why would you keep doing this ?," I clutched his phone close so he could not take it away ,handing it over to him felt like giving him a knife with which he could stab himself.
" Julia ,I need information about my father ," Liam touched my arm.
" We DON'T need information ."
" No , we NEED them ," he hissed ," Last time he kidnapped you , I don't know what he is going to do next time and I don't want to find out about it ."
He gently took the phone from my hand . I could see that he was putting on a brave smile ," As long as you are here ."
He called Palmer's number .
No, no , no ,no.
I had to think fast. Now that I knew about the devil that was riding on my husband's back , I could not leave him alone .
" Hello?," the woman talked through the phone .
Before Liam could answer . I cut off the call .
I just could not - I just could not let him do this .
" Julia ," Liam looked defeated ," Please. "
" No , no , just listen ," I was desparate here ,"If she was going to tell you something, she should have ....think about it Liam. It's either she doesn't want to tell you or that she doesn't know it herself."
" Julia -"
" No , no , you have to listen to me ," it felt like the gears inside my head were turning , I was that much desparate here ," You don't get it , do you ? She announced the engagement between you two ..that means that she has no idea yet that you are married . But why would she have no idea that you are married when your dad knows about it ?"
Liam paused ," Yeah , yeah you are right . Why would she not know that I am married ?"
" It's either she is pretending to not know or she really doesn't know anything," I clutched his arm ," Liam , either way , she is not going to help you anyway ."
" But eventually she will contact father," Liam shook his head ,"I need to make her an ally before that ."
" She still has not revealed her identity to you , do you think that she will ever try to ? "
" Well , I hope so ."
" She is not desparate enough to help you ," I was practically talking nonsense, hoping that my husband could make sense of them . I would do anything to change his plan ," Liam , she thinks that she has you already . So why would she go out her way to help you against your father?"
" To keep me ?"
" To keep you ," I noded ,he was right . Lady Lin would do anything to keep him ," But you have to make her yarn for you . You need to let her know that you come with a heavy price ."
Liam crossed his arms ,staring at me.
Well, atleast he was listening.
" The way things are going , Lin has no idea about your father's doing . She is just happy that she is getting her way with you ," the thought of that woman getting her way with Liam , made me feel nauseous," But eventually she will find out about me cause you said yourself that she will sooner or later come in contact with your father . And even if she doesn't know about me through your father ,she can find out other way like back when she used to stalk you and knew everything about you . And then she will feel betrayed cause she never knew about your marriage. You will have two enemies then . You can not save anyone like that . "
" But there is nothing I can do ," he sighed .
" No , you can , we can ."
He stared at me like I was asking him to be executed when all I wanted was to face this storm together.
" Julia , I can not drag you into this ," I could hear the pain in his voice .
" Well ,as long as you are here ," I smiled repeating what he had just told me .
God knew how scared I was . But with him there , I could walk through the help forever .
" Let's do what you can do here ," I told him ," Liam , this time , you are going to cheat on her ."
