Chapter 41 - Chapter 41 - Growing Fame

One by one, the people Ryotaro and Kara had saved began to stir. The "monsters" were human again—weak, disoriented, but alive. They clutched their heads, some sobbing, some whispering for family. The horror they endured would never leave them, but at least they could go home.

Kara had gone ahead. She needed rest. More than that—she needed to return to Alex. I could still see the determination in her tired smile as she flew off into the dawn sky. Strong as she was, tonight had cut her deeply.

The police were first to arrive. Floodlights lit up the ruins, and officers rushed to gather the victims. EMTs followed, wrapping blankets around trembling shoulders, ushering them to waiting ambulances.

Then came the Javelin-7 which was a hyperspace capable ship designed and engineered by Batman for use by the Justice League. Zatara, Batman and Green Arrow walked out of ship. Batman's eyes flicked across the scene, lingering on me. For a second, neither of us spoke. Then he gave a short nod and ask for the reports about the cases.

"So, you can change the monster back to human with Gene Memory." His voice was gravel, but there was something else beneath it.

I shrugged, forcing a faint grin. "Wasn't exactly neat."

"With that we can stop the entire operation of the Light. We can't let them know about it yet." Zatara said with serious expression.

I slipped the LostDriver off my waist, holding it loosely in my hand. My reflection stared back in the silver, tired but steady. "This city's a mess," I muttered.

Batman's gaze narrowed. "Then clean it up."

And with that, he turned away, already coordinating with the authorities. Typical.

I sank down to the curb, watching the sun break over the horizon. The streets glowed with gold, washing the wreckage in light. For the first time that night, the city didn't look haunted.

My phone buzzed. A message from Alex Danvers. I opened it.

"She's home. She's safe. Thank you."

I whispered. "That's all that matters."

The sirens faded into the background. The League's voices blurred. My vision wavered. Finally, exhaustion won.

As I drifted into unconsciousness, one last thought lingered—

This wasn't the end. Ultra Dai-Shocker was still moving. The Gene Memory had only been the beginning.

But for tonight, Kara was safe. And that was enough.

The sky is started to get bright with each minutes when Kara finally touched down in front of the Danvers' modest home. Some of the area of the clothes are torn aparts and her boots scraped the driveway as though every step weighed twice as much as it should. The warmth of dawn spilled across the quiet neighborhood, but to Kara, it felt like ice. After all she has been experienced too much in one long night.

The door flew open before she could even raise a hand. Alex stood there, her face pale, her eyes wide and wet.

"Kara!"

The word broke into a sob as she rushed forward. In the next instant, Kara was wrapped in her sister's arms, pulled tight against her chest.

"Alex…" Kara whispered, her voice trembling. She melted into the embrace, her forehead pressing against Alex's shoulder. "I'm home."

Alex finally leaned back, just enough to look at her sister's face. She brushed a thumb across Kara's cheek, wiping away soot and dried blood. "You're hurt…"

Kara gave a faint, tired laugh. "It's nothing. I'm a Kryptonian and it is not easy to kill me, remember?"

"That's not funny." Alex's voice cracked. She grabbed Kara's hands, gripping them tightly as if to anchor her. "Don't ever scare me like that again. Mom and Dad are also worried about you and they didn't come home yet. I need to call them, let them know not to worry."

Alex shook her head, exasperated but relieved. She guided Kara inside, easing her onto the couch. A blanket was thrown over her shoulders, and a warm cup of tea was pressed into her hands within minutes.

For the first time in hours, Kara allowed herself to breathe. The weight of the night lifted, replaced by the comfort of home. Alex sat beside her, refusing to move, one hand always resting on her sister's arm as if afraid she'd vanish again.

"I met someone unexpected tonight," Kara said after a long silence. Her voice was soft, thoughtful. "A Rider. He saved me when I was been kidnapped and lost hope."

Alex's brows lifted. "A Rider? Are you talking about the Kamen Rider?"

Kara nodded, a tired smile curling at her lips. "If he hadn't been there…" Her words trailed off, and her grip tightened on the mug. "I wouldn't be here."

Alex studied her sister's face, then gave a slow nod. "Then I owe him just as much as you do."

The two sisters leaned against each other, their silence filled not with fear but with relief. For the first time since the nightmare began, they were safe.

By midday, the story had already reached every screen in National City.

Breaking News: Missing Persons Return Alive After Secret Lab Explosion

Reporters crowded the streets outside the ruined pharmacy. Police tape crisscrossed the rubble, EMTs continued to guide dazed survivors into ambulances, and cameras clicked with relentless fervor.

On the evening broadcast, an anchor sat behind the desk, speaking gravely.

"Last night, the long string of disappearances that plagued National City came to a shocking end. Sources confirm that dozens of missing citizens have been recovered alive from what authorities describe as an 'illegal experimentation facility.' Victims were reportedly altered in horrific ways, though most have now been stabilized and reunited with their families. Investigations are ongoing, but early reports suggest connections to advanced genetic tampering and black-market technology."

Footage rolled of survivors being reunited with their loved ones. Tears, embraces, and cries of relief filled the screen. A father collapsing to his knees as his teenage daughter clung to him. A mother clutching her son's face as though she might never let go.

Then came the shaky phone recording—one that would spread across social media in hours. It showed a figure clad in glowing red armor, standing tall amid fire and smoke, unleashing a beam of crimson light that split the night sky.

The anchor's voice grew hushed.

"Unconfirmed footage appears to show a mysterious armored figure fighting against what witnesses describe as a 'giant monster.' Officials have not released a statement regarding this masked warrior, but some eyewitnesses claim he was the Kamen Rider whose is with Justice League responsible for defeating the threat and saving the victims."

The clip replayed in slow motion. Crimson Photon Streams wrapped around the Rider's frame, his blade glowing as he charged. His name was not known, but the world was already whispering it.

The room is filled with 7 screens which are showing Vandal Savage, Ra's al Ghul, Lex Luthor, Klarion, Brain, Queen Bee and Ocean-Master. In the center of the room standing is George Dowery who is trembling with fear.

"So, did you get that?" Vandal Savage asks.

"Yes, I got it." With that he takes out the red color test tube and briefcase.

"Now, we can start our next moves."
