"The car accident," Noah said finally, his voice carefully neutral. "They never found the shooters."
Levi's eye twitched with a barely noticeable movement, but he did not turn around. He stopped at the kitchen counter, placing the tray down with a soft thud.
"Ah, how was the driver?"
There was no way the alpha knew he crashed the car on purpose. The dashcam footage could not have captured any… Levi's brain began rewinding back to the scene.
He began wiping the counter, which was completely unnecessary as Junior had already done all the cleaning earlier.
The scent of meat pie was still strong in the air and it felt jarring against the sudden turn in conversation.
"Yeah. He died. They never found the shooters." Noah continued, his voice closer now.
Levi did not flinch, but he listened to the sound of Noah's heavy footsteps, which were trying not to be loud on the floor, filling the air behind him. "We believed the real target was someone else in the area."
