In the afternoon, Harry's phone rang again. Tina's name flashed on the screen.
At first, he wanted to ignore it, but her relentless persistence wore him down.. she kept calling, over and over.
Finally, Harry picked up, his voice flat and calm. "What do you want?"
Tina gripped the phone tightly, taking a deep breath before speaking slowly, "Harry… I agree to break off the engagement."
Harry's face remained unreadable. Ending the engagement wasn't a negotiation, it was a decision he had already made.
There was a pause.
Tina hesitated, then pushed herself forward, her voice steadier this time. "Harry… I know I was wrong this time, but Shawn is innocent. I don't want him caught in the middle. Let's announce a peaceful end to our engagement at Grandpa's party. Is that okay?"
Harry's eyes flickered with surprise. Since when had this woman become reasonable?
He had known Tina for years and knew her well.
